Marshawn Lynch Accused of Sexual Assualt

Lynch is being accused of domestic violence and sexual assault by a former girlfriend.

Worst thing that could of happened. Some teams actually favor Lynch. If the Browns don't bite and the Vikes don't trade down, the Texans could be sitting pretty with A.P., god I hope this goes away fast.

Lynch and AP were running fairly close to each other regarding draft position ie. top 10. Where is this likely to drop Lynch to? I suspect that if it doesn't go away real quick, he drops to mid-late 1st. That is several to 10s of millions dollars of draft money lost if that happens.

Good deal. I've been a little worried the Texans might go after this guy, but
Big Bobby McNair will place the off-limits sign on him for sure with this revelation.
And with or without him in the Draft, I never thought there was anyway AD would fall to #8.

It's coming out now cause he's about to get PAID!! Pure and simple, this is somebody's get rich quick scheme.

Doesn't this scenario seem to happen every year to a potential top 10 draft pick?

Easy there, champ. You don't know the facts of this case and neither do I. Last year Rucker from USC had these allegations and proved to have a history of sexual crimes. Sure, there's a chance this is simply extortion and there's also a chance this was a serious crime that shouldn't be written off as female chicanery.

All true. So what ever happened to "innocent until proven guilty."

No doubt.

I just find the timing a bit...conveniant that's all. If he's guilt throw him in jail, if he's innocent I hope he sues her for damages, which could be substaninsal. The incident is already over a month old, but I give here credit for filing as soon as it happened, so there is a good chance something did happen.

Nothing happened to it. Every team will investigate him on their own and reach conclusions... but he won't be a Texan.

At any rate, the guy training Peterson and Lynch out in Arizona says they're testing about the same, speed wise. So if anybody was worried about Lynch being more of a home-run threat, I think AP's his equal there.

ask those INNOCENT players on the Duke Lacrosse team if they were innocent until proven guilty. the court of public opinion had convicted them without substantial testimony from the "victim" and no physical evidence linking ANY of the players to that female. she and that district attorney should be brought up on several charges and be put in jail, disbarred, and be forced to pay restitution to those three INNOCENT men.

ask calvin murphy about that also. some of his kids brought up some bogus allegations just because they didnt get enough of the pie. he was found INNOCENT of all charges when their stories were found to be a scheme to basically extort the money from somebody whose only real crime was that he couldnt keep little calvin in his pants.

I agree totally. The problem here is I believe there should be a gag order on all trials until they are completed and then the media can report on it. I believe that is a fair compromise to the freedom of the press from the First Ammendment and the right to an impartial jury from the Sixth Ammendment. I know that the Sixth Ammendment also calls for a speedy and public trial. While some may argue that restricting the reporting before and during a trial violates this condition, I would not agree as reporters would still be allowed access to the trial during the entire process. The only difference would be in the timing of the press releases.

NFL | M. Lynch accused of sexual assault
Sat, 27 Jan 2007 20:26:41 -0800

KCBS reports California RB Marshawn Lynch has been accused of domestic violence and sexual assault from a former girlfriend. The Alameda County District Attorney is reviewing the woman's claims following an Oakland, Calif., police investigation. KCBS has confirmed the woman was granted a restraining order against Lynch Friday, Jan. 26. The woman alleges Lynch choked, slapped and sexually assaulted her in Oakland Dec. 13. She filed the civil complaint Dec. 19.

He's got Bengal written alll over him .

So your crystal ball told you he did it? Accusation does not equal guilt. This kind of thing makes you question the way the media deals with sexual assault. I believe the accused, as well as the victim's names should be witheld. Wether or not Marshawn did this, his name is dirt now.

Prior to this season, AP ran a 4.38 in Norman. He then box jumped with 80lbs in each hand onto a 36" box. I have no doubts that AP is more athletic than Lynch.

Do some of you fella's not know the difference between:
Accussed
Charged
Guilty

That's how it works. You must be accussed before you can be charged. Then and only after you have been charged can you be found guilty. It sounds as if the accusations have been dismissed and no charges for criminal activity were found.

DA chooses to not bring charges. So another woman screams wolf.

I am not trying to make light of a sensitive issue. But in cases like this, we have a young man heading to a big payday, and there have been cases of women bringing false charges in order to get a settlement. I am not saying this is one of those cases, we will never know. But the police and the DA have decided that there is not enough proof to pursue the case. So the boy did not do it based on that decision.

From here on out I hope he watches his step and stays clean.

I usually go the other way on these cases, but there is more than one story here, and we know neither.

Pretty much guarantee's he won't be a Texan, whether his name is cleared or not.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. If his stock drops to say......the Second Round, you take him or if he drops to late first round, you trade up and take him. All this is barring, the Texans aren't able to take AP via him being selected by Detroit since Kevin Jones is coming off Surgery and there is no bonified back up in Detroit.

Detroit's not taking Peterson, they are happy with Kevin Jones, who became a good receiving target in Martz's system. If anything they are going to draft a QB, that Martz can work with, or trade down to get another one.

there is a good chance kevin jones will miss the 2007 season with a foot injury, similar to the one Jarrod Baxter suffered.

Nice post Dirty Steve. Rep your way. My only knock on Mashawn is that he isn't as tough as I would like at the goal line. I base this on one play where he was stuffed in the hole at the goal line. If they move down in a "get somemore picks " type deal, I would have no problem with that. Personelly believe we have big, not more imprtant, but bigger holes on the team other than RB.
