I mostly disagree with everything you say (not systematically, but it just seems that you never say anything that I agree with), but I do agree with your sentiments about the rivalry. All you are concerned about is the modern rivalry, and since that is the case, I would be ignorant to try and claim that the OU - t.u. game is less than the A&M - t.u. game. That said, I agree that the rivalry itself is much much deeper than that of OU.

After 12-7, though, I think the teasips may have to begin to reconsider the future of the on-field rivalry, as well.

Really. If one decade ('84-'94) didn't change the perception of this on-field rivalry, what makes you think one game (or two, possibly) will? Oh that's right, you're an Aggie. That's what makes you think that. Again...reality.

Had Texas and A&M swapped schedules, do you think their records would also have swapped? If you had trouble with Army at a neutral field, how are you supposed to handle OU on one? If you can't beat Nebraska or Tech at home, how are you going to do it on the road?

All further Horn-Aggie pissing matches should be taken to hornfans and texags. Those are the two of the worst message boards on the internet, both seem to have the angriest people in the state of Texas. This thread would fit perfectly over there.

Guess it could be worse though Texas Tech really wants a rivalry, but no one really cares (OU,UT,TAMU) as my friend says

seriously, I am a UT fan but one thing that bugged me in Austin, is there are some snobs in that city (not all of them) and what people I met from some of the tubing/camping/concerts that came from TAMU. they were pretty cool and of course I have met some TAMU grads that were "out there"

but I still say "hook 'em"

Texas always wants to beat OU on the football field because it's meant more on the national stage over the course of history. That's not been the case with A&M throughout the years.

But is there an academic rivalry with OU? Not even close. Is there a political rivalry (Texas is perceived as the liberal school...A&M the conservative) with OU? No. A&M and Texas have more to be rivals about than sports and that makes it a bigger rivalry.

But the UT/OU football game has always meant more.

Really don't want to get this thread/heated rivalry started up again, but just had to comment on this post. This is by far the most eloquent, well written post in the thread so far. Well said, and I will not dispute the differences between the rivalries.
 
A&M was required by law to defend the 12th Man trademark. Meaning if they didn't they be breaking the law, get it? UT is sueing because someone's feelings got hurt and the want their own sort of revenge or something. I've seen pleanty of shirts saying saw em off with a picture of Reville on it having her feet cut off. Kind of hypocritical isn't it?

For all the comments about A&M, insult all you want. A&M is well known and a great college to attend. College Station is known for being one of the friendliest places around. Austin, ya their mayor graduated from A&M. Funny how things work out huh? A&M has history. Aggies had the support of one of the greatest American Generals of all time (thats General George Patton). The Aggies produced more officers during WWII than ANY other school, this includes schools like West Point. I've been to Austin and UT things pleanty of things and all I can say is UT fans are the rudest group of people I've ever met in my life. I had a broken collar bone over the summer but because I had a A&M Braclett (like the Livestrong kind) on, I was ran into on purpose (the guy turned around and said don't come back to my town *****, you can fill in the stars). Insult A&M all you want, it doesn't matter because at the end of the day we are still here ready to do anything that our school asks of us.

For the football fans, here are a couple of quick stats. Coach Fran actually beats out Mack Brown in careers wins (you can check all you want, its right). Since 1985, A&M has been to more Bowl games that UT.


I'm proud to be attending that school next year and I'm prould to be an Aggie.

Well, about the 12th man vs Saw 'em off thing...
Seattle was using the exact phrase and using it in pretty much the same manner as A&M does. The Saw 'em off logo is a modifcation of the longhorn logo, and could be considered a parody, which is protected by law.

I hope everyone knows that the whole anti-gay thing makes people look like bigots/idiots, plus it could result in loss of job etc... My sister has many gay friends (vocal performance), they are just like normal people believe it or not. They have never "hit on me" or anything. It is just a different lifestyle and hating someone because of it is just as bad as disliking someone because of their race, religion, ethnic group or whatever.

Exactly how is tamu an elite team now? UT earned it. I don't know what happened at tamu since the bowl game to make you think they're on par with UT.

Like I said, you can jab all you want, but nothing you say can give the Longhorns a win versus the Aggies in their past meeting. We made your beloved Colt look like David Carr and shattered your "outstanding" run defense.

In the end this can't be settled until next year when I will personally oversee the game at Kyle.

Anyways.... I also believe you called me delusional when I argued that the Ags would beat the Horns this past year, as well.... we know how that turned out, right MT?
 
You didn't make Colt look like Carr, a healthy Colt woulda torched tamu. And tamu was overrated all year, an easy schedule they barely won out got 'em in a bowl game against a formidable opponent. We all know what happened. You may have "shattered" our defense, but you only scored 12.

A&M is for rednecks and yayhoos. They are the same losers that vote for Bush and drive gas guzzling trucks just to go to the grocery store.

A&M is also a great place to find latent racism. The only black guys on campus are their athletes.....and that is the way they like it. Stupid stupid people.

The losers are still stuck in the 30s which is about the last time they ever won anything in football....

I thought almost losing to Baylor twice, havning only 2 wins against OU, UT and Nebraska the alst three years, beating Tech only a couple of times in the last 12 seasons, and almost firing the head coach ...again; made you pathetic. Not to mention A&M is 34 wins for 73 tries, with 5 draws, against UT.

And I laught everytime I think that the Aggies fired a good coach in RC and replace him with the fraud that is Fran, only to still go 9-3 and beat UT every third year or so.
