1 OT Joe Thomas - Wisconsin would be ok, but overrated. will be gone by our pick.
2 DT Alan Branch - Michigan way too high. way overrated. not worth this spot at all.
3 WR Calvin Johnson - Georgia Tech best player in the draft but we don't really need a WR in the 1st. too high for OUR list.
4 RB Marshawn Lynch - California Not the best RB in the draft and not the best route for our team. RB's come in later rounds.
5 S LaRon Landry - LSU too high, but solid enough. i assume you mean for our pick, so solid enough. Nelson will be better IMO.
6 RB Adrian Peterson - Oklahoma Best RB in draft. 2nd best player in draft. Too high for a RB to be a Texan though w/our other needs.
7 CB Leon Hall - Michigan Not the best CB in the draft. I can think of 4-5 CB's I take before him. He stands out nowhere.
8 DE Gaines Adams - Clemson I'd have a hard time justifying another Dlinemen 1st round.
9 OT Joe Staley - Central Michigan Staley will be lucky to go 2nd round, nuff said.
10 OLB Paul Posluszny - Penn St recovering from major injury and was outplayed by two LB teammates. overrated and is a MLB at NFL level.
11 DE Dan Bazuin - Central Michigan WOW!! Man-crush?? solid guy, but he'll be lucky to sniff 3rd round.
12 C (from OG) Justin Blalock - Texas most overrated offensive linemen to come out in years. solid pick though if we are picking 25 or later.
13 FS Reggie Nelson - Florida best FS in the draft. ball hawk who can lay the wood. should be MUCH higher on our list.
14 DT Glenn Dorsey - LSU less skilled than TJ in college and takes more plays off. I'll pass unless it's the 3rd where he could easily go.
15 QB Brady Quinn - Notre Dame His game translates too much like Carr's for my taste. Overhyped. I'm more inclined to start Sage if Carr is gone.
16 WR Dwayne Bowe - LSU 3rd best WR in draft. Way underrated. Calvin Johnson lite. Loses focus. doesn't come up big.
17 LB HB Blades - Pitt best ILB in the past few years. solid, but shouldn't be a top choice for us w/our position and Meco/Rainer/Wong.
18 FB Brian Leonard - Rutgers This is a 3rd round guy. Nuff said.
19 CB Daymieon Hughes - California 2nd round guy but makes plays. Woud consider w/late first.
20 DT Quinn Pitcock - Ohio St overhyped, doesn't excell anywhere. 2nd round guy at best.
21 LB Patrick Willis - Mississippi studly MLB. not a need for our team. should be moved down.
22 SS Tom Zbikowski - Notre Dame is this a joke?
23 DT (from DE) Adam Carriker - Nebraska He is as solid a DE we can find for where he should go. Underrated still. Great motor. Move him up.
24 DE Lamar Woodley - Michigan 3-4 OLB. Won't be in this draft.
25 CB Fred Bennett - South Carolina He will fly up the boards after his combine. He is a numbers guy. Think Johnathen Joseph.
26 RB Michael Bush - Louisville Recovery will dictate selection. Big bruising back w/good speed, light feet, and top vision.
27 QB JaMarcus Russell - LSU should be higher on our list. top physical QB. NOt best QB on his team. I'm more inclined to go Sage though.
28 WR Rhema McKnight - Notre Dame He won't be the first ND WR drafted, and this is way too high regardless.
29 QB Troy Smith - Ohio St overrated now, but a winner w/good touch and deep ball. intangiables guy who should be higher for us.
30 LB Buster Davis - Florida St underrated playmaker at LB. ballhawk. plays bigger than size. intangiables=A+. move him up for us.
31 CB Marcus McCauley - Fresno St played like crap all year. top measurables though and will be taken high. move him down our board though.
32 WR Ted Ginn - Ohio St elite speed and hype. move him WAY down our board. Smaller Mathis.
33 FS Eric Weddle - Utah sleeper S. undersized. not great speed. should go 4th round or so.
34 CB Jonathon Wade - Tennessee I can think of 3 Tenn. guys who are better at upgradable positions for us, and that doesn't include the guy right below.
35 DT Justin Harrell - Tennessee Takes too many plays off. Mebane and Okoye should both be ahead of him. TJ was better in college, nuff said.
36 RB Kenny Irons - Auburn doesn't excell anywhere. tries hard, but so does dayne.
37 DT Joe Anoai - Georgia Tech are we into 5th-7th round sleepers/flier players now?
38 OT Ryan Harris - Notre Dame Good fit for our scheme. moves well but idk.
39 DT Amobi Okoye - Louisville should be WAY higher for us.
40 QB Tyler Palko - Pitt wow...umm...no.
41 DT Brandon Mebane - California move him WAY up our board. penatrating DT w/non stop motor.
42 CB Aaron Ross - Texas move him off our board. great speed but can't use it well.
43 C Doug Datish - Ohio St we should look OC earlier. Datish/ Kailh/ Young/ Mosez.
44 OL Ben Grubbs - Auburn IDC what you say, he is WAY up the board for my Texans draft.
45 QB Kevin Kolb - Houston Move him up, but is overrated by fans on our MB.
46 WR Dwayne Jarrett - USC even listing him this late is pointless. he is mike williams 2.0 and i'll pass.
47 LB Stephen Nicholas - South Florida playmaker for small school. solid second day LB.
48 P Adam Podlesh - Maryland Don't know much about him, but i'll take a flier on a top P.
49 K Mason Crosby - Colorado best PK in the draft.
50 P Daniel Sepulveda - Baylor best P in the draft.

my comments on each player in red. I would do some major adjusting to this board.

alot of 'overrated' players in your opinion:shades:

yes.

i just think that list needs adjusting for our team.

i also found it hard to follow 50 players because he didn't list where each "set/group" would be looked at. like what round he would have them at the top of his board for. There were 3rd round guys in the top 15, 1st round guys past 35. It was a bit confusing for me.

I also can't believe that you didn't even list Meachem or Revis or Cason on your board. Those are 3 top players who would start ASAP on our team. Meachem is an AJ clone. Revis and Cason will battle for first CB/DB taken.

I'm not certain any of them are coming out. I tried to only list juniors who I've heard are leaning towards going pro. The list gets longer as we approach the draft, I generally have 100 players on my board by then.

The board isn't set by round. Its an order of preference. Last year, for instance, we got my #3 (Mario), my #9 (DeMeco) and my #18 (Winston) in the first three rounds.

This early in the cycle, I focus exclusively on who I prefer. Later on, people will move a little as it starts to become clear that NFL teams are over or under-rating them. However, it will always reflect a good deal of my own opinion. DeMeco is a perfect example of this. No one had him as a Top 10 talent - so some folks thought I was crazy to list him #9. It now appears I may have underrated his talent a bit.

#9 has always been my favorite, and lucky number. I never noticed Demeco was your #9 last year. Im thinking we should draft your #9 this year too. Joe Staley in the second round please.

I think the NFL is going to eat Staley's lunch. We'll see what he lifts. Looks like a faster weaker Wand to me. I was not impressed. At least you listed a couple Sarge. That puts you ahead of the heard in here in my book.

To YoungTexanFan, I applaud you for making the effort to provide a comment next to each player, but I must take exception with your view on LSU DT Glen Dorsey. This guy does NOT take plays off. He's a beast with an intensity that doesn't quit. Even LSU head coach Les Miles said last week in an interview that the guy puts his heart into every play.

The guy is constantly double teamed and still can blow up running plays and get push into the backfield. He might be viewed as undersized, but he has great technique, leverage, quickness and gets off the ball well. Not saying he can't improve, but there's no questioning his heart, his effort or his athletic ability. He played his way into being a likely first round pick and this was his first year starting. The two guys he had to play behind last year are both on NFL rosters.

I was just making my observations based on the three games I watched this year. Granted, I wasn't specificly looking for him...but he didn't really make me find him either. That is good for a DB, but not a DT. He disappeared way too much for my liking. Maybe just a lack of hype, and I guess I'll review some TiVo'ed tape later. I could very well be wrong, but I do think Bowe is a 1st round guy, and not many people even have him top 50 yet. Landry will slide though, but not too far. There are just some other, previous LSU d-linemen who I would have taken before Dorsey based on the play I saw this year, but I will study him more...later. He is on my big board though.
