Who Impressed You

Who Impressed you the most today (06 NCAA Football Championship Saturday)?

a little input before I reveal the player who impressed me the most. Who y'all liked? Why? Should the Texans consider drafting this guy? Try to narrow down your picks to todays action, but if you want to add others thats fine too. could be a 2nd or 3rd or even 4th rd draft prospect but the main focus here is on the Texans #1 selection :tv:

Here are players that impressed me, though I still want Laron Landry as our #1

Brandon Siler, Lb, University of Florida. Guy was everywhere
He would be a great 2nd rounder in my opinion

Ito, K, Rutgers- Very cool under pressure, has tremendous range and accuracy. I'd give up a 6th-7th to end the kris brown experience

Reggie Nelson with his pass covering skills (even though i still think he needs to bulk up), and Brandon Mebane of Cal. He was a force at DT and has been his career at Cal. BTW, Siler is a junior and most likely wont declare (coming off a knee injury).

I don't have the link right now but Reggie Nelson is declaring for the draft this year and he will battle it out with Laron Landry for the top safety position heading into the draft. I had read about Reggie Nelson declaring at NFL Draft Countdown site.

Amobi Okoye, DT Louisville 6-1 317 lbs. signed to Louisville when he was 15 & will still only be 19 when drafted (think Mario Williams). Sounded like a very smart kid too, he was very disruptive in the middle, excellent wrap up tackler, could pressure the QB & chase down the play from the backside. Of all the DT'S I watched yesterday including Marcus Thomas (Florida) & Brandon Mebane (Cal) Okoye looked the most freakishly talented & fit (relentless).

Right now I think he is on the cusp of being a Top 10 pick, so if the Texans can somehow trade down or win a coupld of these last games its not out of the question that Amobi Okoye could be the best option for the Texans around that 10th pick.

Second round pick I liked CB Kenny Scott, Georgia Tech 6-1 185. seemed like he was everywhere, had 7 unassisted tackles, excellent in run support & coverage man to man. A smart CB, with size, he could be projected to FS in the NFL.

The most impressive kicker I've seen in a while is Wake Forrest Sam Swank. Very accurate from distance able to drive the ball well into the endzone on kick-offs. only a sophomore, but keep an eye on him for the future.

Speaking of keeping an eye on the future how about Florida freshman sensation Percy Harvin? great instincts, speed all around skills. Would really like to see what he can do if Florida gets a shot @ Ohio State. If he stays healthy he could come out early in a couple years and be another Top 10 pick :yikes:

Bruce Davis, DE from UCLA 6'3 250 lb. junior. That kid was wreaking havoc all day against USC. & he's from houston & has a good pedigree; I believe his dad played in the NFL allbeit for a short stint i think.

true that. thought it was very cool he was from Houston, but then the Texans orgainization has showed very little preference for hometown grown talent even with Houston native Kubiak at the wheel

Was not shadowing him the whole game, but he was in the backfield a number of times.

Dad, who was a member of two Super Bowl championship teams, played offensive tackle with the Raiders (1979-87) and Oilers (1987-89) after earning varsity letters from 1975-78 with the Bruins

No vote for Reggie McNiel (#2 UCLA) ? Certainly threw a big Monkey wrench into the BCS cake. The guy is a tweener like Huff. Not the same skill set...but the day we draft the guy he becomes the fastest saftey on the team. See what he does in the bowl game. What he runs in the combine. Might of been a one hit wonder. Heck of play is all I know.

Have to get the guy some bipolar stuff, but the gaurd for Oregon St. is a big mean nasty Mother^*&% * (shut your mouth) Talkn' about Perry. ( we can dig it).http://cfn.scouts.com/554525.com

Is there one Hawai'i player that doesn't come with baggage ? Not impressed the Rainbow warrors QB. Kingler II on my book. He's going to breaK all the NCAA records. And... he's deadly leathal...within ten to fifteen yards. Deep out ....forget it. Mark the free saftey Toretenelli of Oregon St. down . The guy is hugh for a DB. See what he runs in the combine.

We don't need one with Mathis on the roster, but the slot guys for U of H and Hawai'i can play. The little RB guy for Oregon St. Svensen Bennard, isn't all day. But he makes a nice change of pace guy. He's got some guns for his size, (unlike Garret Wolf), and he is a willing and agreesive blocker. But most imporantly he is a one cut and go guy. He gets there very quickly.

Like U of H's center.

Like Hickman UCLA as a will LB.

Like I posted a while back , judging from the preformances yesterday, and of course who comes out, very deep draft for WRs. All shapes and sizes.

Mark down Jackie Battle as a poor mans Ian Johnson. I think he is a better prospect than Leonard of Rutgers or Lane of A & M. Rambling a bit but that is what I saw. Great football huh ?
