Practice Squad
According to the roster page on houstontexans.com, the Texans signed 3 new players:

#78 Cedric Killings DT 6-2 310 5 Carson-Newman
#34 Von Hutchins DB 5-9 181 3 Mississippi

roster:

From espn scouting report:

Pearson has ideal height for the position and can add more weight to his frame. He is a very good athlete and moves well. He has very quick feet and decent running ability. He takes a quick first step and good angles to his blocks.

Killings has above average athletic ability, initial quickness and good straight line speed. He has good foot quickness, he plays with decent leverage and he flashes his ability to rush the passer and push the pocket.

Von Hutchins had a 77-yard interception for a TD against Carr in week 9 of 2004. http://www.houstonprofootball.com/game/2004/week09.html

Looks like they might be better pick ups at this point in the season than I was expecting. Sure hope so, because we sure need them to work out well.

Much like the draft, I think we are reading their strengths and skipping their weaknesses. :)

Pearson started for the Jags until getting injured a couple of years back. He did not seem to recover well and eventually lost his job to Barnes.

Both of the other names are familiar to me as being in the league, but specifics of either escape me.

There just isn't going to be that much talent available at this point in the season. All 3 players mentioned are obscure to me. Let's all hope they work out well for the Texans and that the team continues moving in same direction they have been moving in......toward improvement.

Those assessments seem pretty ordinary. Fast, strong, blah, blah, blah. They are here for a reason. I hope they are serviceable for the next half-season.
