i know this may be a few days outdated but i was reading all the comments about kubiaks interview about carr. and i just have one ? what happens if carr takes his team to the playoffs next year will he be a hero or will he still be not good enough?

I just got back from Vegas and the line on this game was JAX -10.5 with an O/U of 38.5. I put money on the Texans, as I really don't see them losing by 11. They always play the Jags tough (even in JAX) and I wouldn't really be surprised by an outright victory by the Texans. I also like the over, but my wife was acting as a moderating force on my gambling habits :crying:

Texans - 21
Jags - 20

That's just another bridge in a long line of bridges he would have to cross. From is he even good enough to be a starting qb.......is he good enough to lead a team to a winning season.........is he good enough to get to the playoffs.........can he can he get to/win a Super Bowl.

Although he hasn't exactly done step two, I think he is on step three. I know from reading this board some people think he is still on step one.

If he can lead the team to the playoffs in the next couple of years, I'll say he's good enough. But like I said in the previous paragraph, it may not be enough for some.

Did they post a spread on moral victories? If we lose by two are we still winners? What if we lose by two after sitting on the ball to end the first half - does that make us losers? What if we lose by six but we are throwing into the end zone as time expires?

I guess moral victories may be too hard to handicap because of all the vagaries.

Maybe that's why I see a loss as a loss. Moral victories be hanged!

Losing sucks. (That is in bold, underlined and italicized.) Period. But I'll sure take the way the team lost last week vs. the St. Louis loss last year.

I have never seen a football team fold so quickly in so short a period of time. I was embarrassed for every one of those guys, and felt absolutely no hope for that team.

This year's team fought last week and played like a football team, and I was disappointed for them, but not embarrassed. I believe in the future.

I am sure someone has said something about moral victory, but I haven't ran across it. Moral victory is a sports term for denial.

If, by "we", you mean me collecting cash from Vegas bookies, then yes :) (besides, I keep shelling out for season tix, the least they can do is help reimburse me!)

Hey, we're not a good team. we all know that. The one team I always feel like we can pull one out against, however, is the Jags. Maybe I'm a homer, but we have beat them more often than not, so far. :shades:

Did any of you guys catch Mort on NFL gameday preview? He said that Carr was missing big plays due to "playing it safe" and to watch out for Rosenfels.

I did. However, he was struggling with the delivery of it and got the sense that he was regurgitating hearsay rather than reporting or providing editorial. Interesting nonetheless.

GO TEXANS!!!! Its the best time of the week. houston texanssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss football. Beat The Jags! Beat the JAgs! Beat the Jags!

Houston-24

Texans by a whisker! Welcome back Mr. Wong. Play every game like it's your last, David. Skip breakfast Mario! Turn em loose Coach. We fans want a W today.

What a great day for football!! Let's go Texans! Beat down those Jags again...use last week as a springboard for another "W"!!:marionaner:

To our fans he'll be a bum unless he wins the SB. Then after we lose a game next year he'll be a bum again. You can't satisfy our fans.

Tha Boards really upset me sometimes.

Ever consider the fact that he might just BE a bum? We calls em like we see's em down here.....and i'd be willing to bet if carr ever wins a super bowl, it will be dilfer-esque...dominant defense, amazing running game, carr allotted 15-20 short passes a game and not allowed to throw deep or down the middle. Caretaker quarterback.

I just want this team to play well...I'm not a fan of any one player...I'm more of a fan of the team. I'm not like you. Way down the road when Carr isn't here I'd bet I'm here and you are long gone.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed! Wait, it's just Vinny..... nevermind.

Texans win a close one and officially ruin the Jags chance at the playoffs. The rivalry thickens.

Funny that you should make the Dilfer comparison. I did that on another board a few days ago. I agree that he is no Brett Farve, but he doesn't need to be if we display the runing game that Kubes is famous for.

You know, Vinny takes a lot of crap on this board, especially for somebody who loves this team so much and does so much for this message board in general. You want to throw stones at the mood of one of the most knowledgeable people in the community because he's not cheerfull at the plethora of sub mediocrity continually displayed? If anybody has earned the right to be a little eeyoreish, its vinny.

That's a pretty outlandish statement - it's not like we are on the verge of a super bowl. Maybe he and the whole team would get more respect if we could even sniff the play-offs in anything but pre-season predictions by fans.

Satisfy the fans? We are 2-6. Expectations are very low around here.

I believe we can come away with a good victory today. We no longer have a bad team they've turned the corner and are playing better as the season moves on. I think we can take this game.

Texans- 31
Jags- 24

Likie every other fan out here we need that. i uinderstand everyone hasd had enough of losing, but people are too quick to blame just one guy. I think alot of people have hng Carr and are afraid to admit he isn't all that bad. He's definitly not that great but definintly not bad. I've said it before., I'l lsay it again. It could be worse, we could have Aaron Brooks.
As for our team.. well our record speaks for itself. I think it is dead on. We have played thus far like a 2-6 team. Starting today though, I think we change that perception and play very well in the second half.

There's no thing a like a Jags game to start the second half off well.

I'd like to think it's not directed at Vinny personally, but moreso at the general attitude of pushing an agenda on this board. It happens by many posters and it gets old reading it time and again. Of course, I keep pushing the 'build the offensive and defensive lines" agenda, so I'm guilty as charged.

Oh well ... we're all fans, we just have different ideas what will get us to the promised land. Go Texans :redtowel:

I'm out on this thread...deleted all my posts. I can't give opinion here sometimes. I want to give football opinion and most of you guys just want to talk about me. I'll post in other places or something.
