Seriously.. what if we lose??

BTW, I am not complaining, those are the facts.

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

Reality deprivation must be an invading virus around here. Disregard what the head coach says, because fans always know best.

Kubiak has stated THIS WEEK that the 48-0 stat in the 3rd qtrs. is a BIG CONCERN to the coaching staff, and it is his primary focus to overcome. The team consistently plays flat coming out of halftime. Why is that fact so hard to comprehend around here?

I dont see how it wouldn't be.

It's not a big deal if we lose. Both teams are rebuilding. Both teams are coming off wins. Titans in addition are coming off a bye and have homefield.

The Texans are not a lock to beat anyone. We CAN beat some teams, but just because we beat the Jags doesn't make us a lock.

Maybe we'll split with Tennessee this year. One win each. That would still show improvement over last year.

The Titans played the Colts better than we did, and they played the Redskins better than we did. It shouldn't be that surprising if we lose.

I don't think it's going to happen. I think we'll shock them in the first half, and the game will be over early in the third. We'll continue to be aggressive enough on offense to continue running the score up in the third, but Fisher & his Crew will be thinking of this as an educational experience early.

But this board has been a totally different place in the last week. We've been on a rollercoaster since the beggining of the season, Starting off with hope, and faith, and good will towards Kubiak and his coaches. After Philly, Indy, and Washington, we started looking for candidates for DC for next year.

After Miami & Dallas, we were looking for replacement Running backs, and after Jacksonville, there's been nothing but love for Lundy, Gado, & RichardSmith.

I understand the highs & lows are all part of being a fan, but the swings on this board have been so wild... it's crazy.

Knee Jerk??

That's putting it mildly.

But if we lose to Tennessee( I know we won't, but if we did), are we gonna want to see heads roll??

Calm down. Vince Young can't win.

But, if we do lose, you'll see the same old "fair weather" fans calling for heads to roll.

I generally like to think of myself as a "glass-half-full" type of person and I am pretty sure the Texans are better than the Titans (though being better doesn't guarantee a win) ... all that being said, I don't really think the fair-weather charge could stick to any current Texan fan.

The biggest key to this game isn't the defense, but the offense.

You have some valid points on the O but this was a poor intro. Defense just like offense is always a key to the game. The Texans have zero chance if they don't blunt the Titans running game--they will burn 40 minutes off the clock, tire the D and keep the O sidelined where it is exceedingly hard to put points up.

infantrycak, we seem to be on opposite sides most of the time, but I think we have a lot in common but it's how we communicate where things get opposite.

My point was that the defense is playing okay right now and if they continue playing okay, the Texans have a shot if the offense can get a couple of TDs in the first half.

If the offense can only get 6 or so points in the first half. We are probably sunk because even though the defense is playing a lot better, they are a little limited due to talent.

However, the offense could start scoring a lot more points early in the game, which would make the defense's job a lot easier because they probably will be playing with the lead and they will probably be off the field most of the time becaue the Texans are not a high octane offense.

Long TD scoring drives for the Texans are great, because it puts points on the board and keeps the defense fresh and off the field. That is the biggest contribution the offense can do for the defense, and for the entire Texans organization and fans for that matter. They would put up some serious wins with that formula this year!

That is why I am putting the Titans game on the offense's shoulders. The offense needs to score some serious points in the entire game if they want to win, whereas the defense needs to play about the same or a little better.

We probably do agree overall more than it seems but I just believe every game involves both O & D and you keep expressing all the burden on the O. The D showed up last week but for a little realism their giving up the opening drive TD in the 3rd qtr was what started the O-crapometer going on the sideline. Same as the O not playing 4 qtrs the D hasn't been either--they just about gave away the 3rd qtr against Jax and certainly gave up the 2nd half against Dallas and gave up the 4th qtr against Miami. It's a ying yang thing. Both need tons of improvement, can improve with the current personnel as seen by the pieces of games they play well and will help the other side if/when they do improve. The burden is on the whole team to win games.

In my opinion, I think we are about tapped out on the defense. I think they can play a little better but I don't think we can expect them to dominate and win a game.

However, I think the offense could play a lot better by scoring long sustaining TD drives early in the game, which in turn should make the defense's job easier.

It's a ying and yang thing like you said.

I just think we are going to get a lot more mileage out of the offense improving now than the defense. The defense is doing okay. Now the offense should step up. Then the Texans can be the complete package and start knocking off some real teams and have 4 or 5 game winning streak.

As I see it, the quickest way to victories right now is the offense scoring quality points early and throughout the game, with defense playing the way they have the last 3 games.

We had people wanting to give away next years first for Michael Turner.....

We've wanted to bench our DBs, because our LBs couldn't contain a screen...

Some fans wanted to get rid of Kubiak after his 3rd game as HC.....

But this week....... everything is going exactly as those fans planned........

Yeah, I say we've got a few fairweather fans.

The Texans will win.. Rookie QB's are rooke QB's... Look at Leinart..had a great game against the bears, everyone thought he was going to be amazing against the RAIDERS  and what happened they came out and ate him for lunch. You never know what your going to get with a rookie QB, but its usually not good..
I think the texans have more to play for, and they want it more.. The season is not over. They can make it a respectable year..
When the titans sent Volek away and benched Collins, they gave up on this year
They put VY in to learn this year and get better so they have a chance next year.. They have a better running game, but we DO have a better QB and offense overall.... and neither one of our defenses are exactly elite, but we have been playing better and making improvements..

TEXANS WIN!! :texans:

we can lose this game... league parity will keep it somewhat close, the winner will be determined by the best kicker, mark it down!!

Texans: 27
Titans: 24

Andre will overwelm pacman...

You are wrong.

They didnt put in VY cuz they were giving up. He honestly gives them the best chance to win.

Volek apparently threw the team under the bus with some comment (thats what Fisher said). I wouldnt want that guy on my team if its true.

Think about it. Young has been in there longer than Collins has so its possible that he just knows more of the offense. And no matter what his QB rating is you cannot deny that team looks better with him than with Collins.

But you are right about the game. I dont see us losing.

Fisher also said that VY is atleast a couple years away from being a starter earlier in the year, but KC was so bad why not atleast let VY learn while they're losing..:D

You sound like what has happened over the years at Falcon Nation. Rollercoaster is the only term. I think once y'all establish a running game consistently, hit someone in the mouth early and often, and let David Carr do his thing, you will be fearsome. You remind me of the Falcons a few years ago, we'd have a great game then suck for a few weeks, then be world beaters again for a game or two. Kubiak will need some time, can't build a winner in the NFL in one season. It just can't happen. He'll build you an offense, and your D is fairly young. Wait for that to Gel. You have a bright future if they don't get crazy and start signing over priced FA's and having pitiful draft after pitiful draft. I think the mark of a good team is when you go into a draft, and 6 of your players stick----ON YOUR TEAM. WE used to kid at Falcon Nation that we were drafting for the Raiders every year. All our draft picks ended up cut by us and used by the Raiders..............

At the Falcon Nation, were you guys up & down & all over the place, or did you, for the most part, watch the team grow patiently??

I understand this is going to take time. Most of the people here do as well. We looked at our schedule three months ago, and for the most part, understood there was a good chance we'd be 0-6 at this point of our season.

But we lose to Philly, then Indy, then Washington........ just like we planned, and the world is coming to an end.

We Will Win!!!!!!period! We Have Improved On All Three Sides Of The Game.the Titans Are A Decent Team.but,we Are A Coming Team With Talent To Keep Improving And To Keep Up Our Momentum.i Think The Titans Will Play Good And Still Lose.we Are On Our Way Up.all Of The Vince Fans Need To Understand That We Are Getting Better Every Game On Defense And Our Offense Is Starting To Come Together Week By Week.i Think Our O-line Has Started To Get Better With Pass Protection And Our D Has Played Good.should Be A Good Game .texans Win By 9.26-17.i Hope So At Least.go Texans...

TK, be honest--does anyone change their opinion/stance more from week to week than you?

"I understand this is going to take time. Most of the people here do as well. We looked at our schedule three months ago, and for the most part, understood there was a good chance we'd be 0-6 at this point of our season."

...above quote is an example of you flip-flopping like you accuse others!! Were'nt you the one who 'preached' a record of 13-3? How does that equate into 6 losses from you?

TK is OK.

Need to cut TK some slack..

Consider

He lives in Port Arthur..

Breathes in toxic fumes from chemical plants and oil refineries..:yikes:

Drinks the Port Arthur water.

Hasn't recovered from Hurricane Rita.

And his local high school team is named the Titans.

Enough to confuse anyone.:D

Just kidding TK

That's part of my point. I haven't flip-flopped on 13-3....... I still thought we'd go 13-3 if our offense didn't give up the ball in back to back possesions, then our secial teams did the same. Now, I'm thinking 12-4........ not because I lost faith in the team, but because I understand the math.

Heck, in my mind the second half of the Cowboy game doesn't even count, so we won it 6-3.

& while I'm very optomistic about our season, I would have more reason to be upset at this point in our season at 2-4, but I'm not upset at all. The guys who thought we would be 0-6 at this point are the ones who've come unglued.

Do you mean Water isn't supposed to glow?? :shots:

Speaking of "fans" I want Mario to dominate Vince just to see/hear what Mattress Mac has to say. Oh and winning would also be nice too. :redtowel:
What, no Texans win it's free guarantee from Mac this week? What a douche.

We will be 2-5 and therefore may be deleting or editing many flammable and derogatory posts.

I am not so much worried about if we lose, but would be more worried about how we lose. I do expect us to win.

We lose we get closer to the Calvin Johnson prize. Don't think we'll take him, but it'd be nice to hear the offers. Don't think we'll lose this one. Will say 5 of 6 six on the road is rough in any league. This should be a "gimme" for us over that period. One of the few. The opposite of this thought, and I ain't banging a ten win winning streak drum, but with Jacksonville dinged up I'm on the hope band wagon again. Gotta a shot at four in a row now. Won't that be a franchise first ? All depends on how long the grey beard's legs hold out. They lose Salaam, the season's down the tolliet. All are wecome to argue over on the draft threads.

Madness I tell you, Madness....did someone actually POST 12-4?? omfg! Do they give crack away FREE in Houston?

I'm beginning to wonder myself....
wtf.gif

I'm a fan even when we lose, but do you think we can beat the Giants? No sarcasm, a serious question.

I don't think the Giants are the toughest team we'll face. They are really on the ropes. Dallas gave them that game, & made them look a lot better than they really are.

TikiBarber is great, can't deny that..... I don't know what the deal is in NYG, but something ain't right. They are on a high right now, but it'll come crashing down soon.

Madness I tell you, Madness....did someone actually POST 12-4?? omfg! Do they give crack away FREE in Houston?

I'm not in Houston.

"Heck, in my mind the second half of the Cowboy game doesn't even count, so we won it 6-3."

...sad, and kinda scary--being optimistic,IMO, is one thing but being unrealistic is another---kinda like a kid that brings home an 'F' on their report card but its OK because it 'doesn't even count and really should be an A,' yikesssssssssssssssssssssssss

LOL....don't feel bad, we got some fans over at gotitans.com that are the same way!

Still, I think they were being unrealistic. had we blitzed Peyton, or mcNabb(which we did, not as much as some would like, but we did) we may very well have given up 50 pts, and 600 yds.

We blitzed StL in the preseason, and gave up 300 yds... they thought their QBs looked so good, they showed us all 4 of them, including Ragone. We won that game, but they proved what they needed to prove.

We stayed home, and gave up less yards to Denver(usually on big plays), coming into the season it made sense to cautiously blitz(like we did in Philly) but after Philly, we definitely needed to work on our coverage, same with INdy. Watch the games, time the QB release. It's not that there wasn't any pressure, but that we couldn't cover for 2 seconds.

I agree we should've rushed Brunnells a lot more, I don't understand the thinking going into that game.

& our running game hasn't gotten any better. We looked the same through the first three Qtrs against a team weaker against the run than the teams we played previously. They even had key injuries to the heart of their run defense, and we still got stuffed. But we break off two big runs, and all of a sudden we have a running game??
Do you purposely contradict yourself? In this thread we have no running game, in the Titans thread it's "we are gonna run all over your defense" GET OFF THE FENCE!!!!

Seriously...why you would anyone even post a thread asking what if we lose? Give me a break:( Yeah, this is what I want to read right before I get ready to watch the game....uh ok....but thanks so much for bringing it up...Go Texans!:texan:

winning is tough in this league...so yeah, we may lose. It's just a game between two bottom dwelling teams right now...I don't think it has long term implications...if that is what you are getting at.

Yes Vinny is right- a loss won't make too much of a difference. But a win would be AWESOME for Kubes and this team.

So you think David will continue to throw INTs in back to back possessions.... I don't. I think that was an anamoly, & won't happen again. I have faith in David.

Do you purposely contradict yourself? In this thread we have no running game, in the Titans thread it's "we are gonna run all over your defense" GET OFF THE FENCE!!!!

no contradiction, The titans possess the worst run defense we will see all year.
