I don't think it's going to happen. I think we'll shock them in the first half, and the game will be over early in the third. We'll continue to be aggressive enough on offense to continue running the score up in the third, but Fisher & his Crew will be thinking of this as an educational experience early.

But this board has been a totally different place in the last week. We've been on a rollercoaster since the beggining of the season, Starting off with hope, and faith, and good will towards Kubiak and his coaches. After Philly, Indy, and Washington, we started looking for candidates for DC for next year.

After Miami & Dallas, we were looking for replacement Running backs, and after Jacksonville, there's been nothing but love for Lundy, Gado, & RichardSmith.

I understand the highs & lows are all part of being a fan, but the swings on this board have been so wild... it's crazy.

Knee Jerk??

That's putting it mildly.

But if we lose to Tennessee( I know we won't, but if we did), are we gonna want to see heads roll??

winning is tough in this league...so yeah, we may lose. It's just a game between two bottom dwelling teams right now...I don't think it has long term implications...if that is what you are getting at.

We will be 2-5 and therefore may be deleting or editing many flammable and derogatory posts.

I am not so much worried about if we lose, but would be more worried about how we lose. I do expect us to win.

Shame on you for even bringing up the fact that we may lose. Get that nonsense out of your head NOW. We are on a winning roll. May some day be called a dynasty. But, if we do lose, you'll see the same old "fair weather" fans calling for heads to roll. This is a game that I think we will win. We should be able to run on these chumps which will open up the passing game. We also need to spank Mr. V.Young early and often.

you'll see the same old "fair weather" fans calling for heads to roll.

Thanks Mike, this is exactly what I'm talking about.

Vinny, I'm just talking about the MB, not real world stuff. I'm asking are we going to swing to the other side of the spectrum, and want to cut everyone but Dunta , David & AJ??

I think it's silly, and think the "fans" that do it are silly.

It could happen and if it does we prepare for next week. However I'm hoping we get to celebrate a little.

We are in a tough spot here.

If we lose, everyone will start off on how we should have drafted Vince, and that Mario isnt helping us, because we got beat by a inferior team.

But if we win, its like, well they were supposed to win, so this win doesnt mean much.

So we dont gain anything from winning, but lose alot more if we lose.

*Why did a team that we have to play twice a year have to draft VY?!!*

Message boards are always knee-jerk to some extent....the complainers in life are always louder than the patient folks...it's no different here....frankly, it's more exaggerated here because you can hide behind your keyboards. A football message board is like a rolling 'letter to the editor'. The negative generally outweighs the positive on a short term basis but long term we have good fans who are smart and grounded for the most part...it shows through long run methink.

Speaking of "fans" I want Mario to dominate Vince just to see/hear what Mattress Mac has to say. Oh and winning would also be nice too. :redtowel:

This is exactly what I am talking about. If VY and the Titans win, Mac can go nuts talking about how dumb we are, and how we should have taken VY.

But if we win, he wont say anything about it, and that will be that.

So like I was saying, we stand to lose alot more by losing, than we would gain by winning.

Losing is a very real possibility. While we feel pretty good about the last few games, I would think the Titans do as well.

Basically its a battle of two moderately bad teams on the rise. If I were betting money, I'd have to go with Tennessee at home.

On the plus side, I'm starting Travis Henry on my FF team, so at least we know he'll have a lousy day.:)

I asked my father one day a strange and difficult question....He looked at me and said..." what will you do?, if tomorrow you wake up and there is no sun "...then he walked away.

Kudos for the optimism, Vinny. :shades:

Personally, I think if we lose, it will be because we didn't show up on defense at all. The Titans have shown they can run the ball. We have to stop it. If we can force VY into beating us with his arm, we'll be fine.

I would like to think we pull off a dominating victory this week, but anything can and has happened in games that "we should win" in the past. As far as your comment on how the board has changed in the last week or so, I think many people's reactions are based on the product that they are paying to see being put on the field. Many have said that they expected us to lose a game, but it's the fashion that we lose in that breaks fans down, repeatedly. Blow-outs kill the fan base and team moral. I think that many people were calling for Richard Smith's head at that point because he had the defense playing too cautious, where as now we are more aggressive and that makes a game more exciting to watch. As far as the running back goes, people were fed up with not being able to pick up a single yard consistently throughout a game when it was a must for us to score a TD or pick up a first down. People are happy that we got over 60 yards rushing in a game...not much of a goal, but compared to what we were doing I'm freakin' ecstatic! :tease:

Still, I think they were being unrealistic. had we blitzed Peyton, or mcNabb(which we did, not as much as some would like, but we did) we may very well have given up 50 pts, and 600 yds.

We blitzed StL in the preseason, and gave up 300 yds... they thought their QBs looked so good, they showed us all 4 of them, including Ragone. We won that game, but they proved what they needed to prove.

We stayed home, and gave up less yards to Denver(usually on big plays), coming into the season it made sense to cautiously blitz(like we did in Philly) but after Philly, we definitely needed to work on our coverage, same with INdy. Watch the games, time the QB release. It's not that there wasn't any pressure, but that we couldn't cover for 2 seconds.

I agree we should've rushed Brunnells a lot more, I don't understand the thinking going into that game.

& our running game hasn't gotten any better. We looked the same through the first three Qtrs against a team weaker against the run than the teams we played previously. They even had key injuries to the heart of their run defense, and we still got stuffed. But we break off two big runs, and all of a sudden we have a running game??

If we lose the Carr haters will all of a sudden come back to life.

I'm looking for a win.

Saying that we will come out and shock the Titans right away will be too much means you don't really know the nature of VY. He does like to come from behind sometimes.

I don't want to think about losing because winning comes from winning attitudes.

I asked my father one day a strange and difficult question....He looked at me and said..." what will you do?, if tomorrow you wake up and there is no sun "...then he walked away.
To which I would have responed: "Dad, WTH?"
But back to the situation of this thread, yeah your fairweather fans will complain if we lose. They love to give their fat, bloated opinions of failure and doom and probably hope we lose every week just so they'll have something to post about.
But I think we have the offensive and defensive weapons to pull out a win, even in Tennessee.

I still dislike Richard Smith and hope we find a legitimate DC for 2007.

I agree with KT. It's not so much losing, but how we do it.

It's good to see that you haven't lost your heads completely. Of course you're going to lose this game. The Titans will want to continue our winning ways. And the most important factor.....it's in TN.

I know the Titans are favored to win the game....by three IIRC. Technically it becomes a wash due to the fact that home field usually gives you 3 points, so I see it as the team that shows up to play that day will win. I am just hoping that we hit a critical stage last week with the win against Jacksonville and our team will feel better about themselves and dare I say it.....get a little swagger to them. I know we are far from being a playoff contender, but at this stage I'll take a win from my granny's bingo team so our boys can learn what it feels like. People are breaking down last weeks win to such a point that it's making it seem like it was a gimme and it's anything but that. "Oh, they had such and such out or Byron played with a sore ankle". Please, they lost.....period. I don't see us going back to the three games we lost and saying, "well, I expected it. We were missing Wong, Faggins, Peek, our new LT, D. Davis, etc." We lost those games and we don't use those excuses.

I would be hugely dissappointed. Maybe even more dissappointed than our loss to the Cowboys. Especially if the game is won by Vince Young. I just don't want to be hearing that crap for weeks on weeks.

As a fan I think we are going to win.

But I don't know how the Texans could possibly be favored on the road at this point in the season. Regardless of the team they are playing.

I loved what the Texans did last week, but lets be honest, when describing the Texans you may use a lot of words but..."Consistent" is not one of them.

the key to victory will be to play TWO solid halves of football.

If we lose, we always have next a revenge game later this season.

GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LBC, thanks for the reply, but this isn't about whether we will win or lose on Sunday, but how you will respond if(knowing we won't, but if) we lose??

I think it's possible we'll lose. So far, our defense hasn't shown me any signs that they're capable of dealing with a Quarterback as mobile as Young can be.

Word on the street is that Mr. Invincible had a little ankle trouble in practice this week. This could help.

Our defense can handle a QB with low accuracy, though. You gotta take the good with the bad, but I think the ball is in our court for this game.

actually last time I checked everybody and their brother has the Titans by 4 to 7 so we are not the favorites, I really cant ever remember the Texans being the favorite. maybe someone can look that up. what they will say if we win though is that Tennesee lost and that they are having a rough season. I don't really care. If we win I will be happy, If we lose I will be dissappointed, but I'll get over it as long as we fight hard and dont hand it to them with stupid mistakes.

I dont see Mattress Mac putting furniture on the line for this game. He is so sure that VY is the greatest one to put on a jockstrap it seems he would gamble away some free furniture. Texans 24-16.

It's more likely the Texans will lose than win when you consider the first six games. For Carr, he is fortunate to have won two games thus far and have decent stats, so the expected loss will be tempered some what for him. A loss isn't going to be that big of an issue because of the two victories earlier, particularly the Jags victory.

However, the two Texans victories came at home against QBs that were banged up. Further, the defense held the opposing offenses to 3 and 7 points through 3 quarters of play in those victories. Meanwhile, the offense took it's time but scored points in the 4th quarter to bring about the victories. So, it's important to keep those 2 victories in context.

If the offense starts off slow, like they have done all year, I don't see how this game is going to even be close.

My reasoning is this. Tennessee's game plan is going to be pound the ball through the running game and take a lot of time off the clock. Meanwhile on defense, I think they will be very aggressive in stopping the run and blitzing Carr to bring about 3 and outs or very short drives. If Tennessee can do that on defense and get some long drives early on offense with TDs, the game could be out reach before the first half.

This game could get ugly by halftime. The best way to keep that from happening is the execute some long drives and score 17 points in the first half. I don't see how the Texans can win this game with only 7 or fewer points in the first half because the defense at some point is going to get worn down.

I think that if vince even sneezes, our secondary will bite like a beartrap. I hope they prove me wrong.

I think it's possible we'll lose. So far, our defense hasn't shown me any signs that they're capable of dealing with a Quarterback as mobile as Young can be.

That might be because we have'nt faced a QB as mobile as VY. Mc Nabb would be close but not quite. I think the key to winning will be to ave. at least 3 yrds a carry, spreading the field on passing routes and disguising our D schemes well with about 15 - 20 blitzes in the game. I also think the special teams are gonna play a big part. I believe we pull out another win here, but if not...Learn from it and continue to improve. As a fan I think thats all you can ask the team to do,and hopefully the coaching staff and players will do it.

I don't think it's going to happen. I think we'll shock them in the first half, and the game will be over early in the third. We'll continue to be aggressive enough on offense to continue running the score up in the third, but Fisher & his Crew will be thinking of this as an educational experience early.

Seriously TK, this is one of the longest rhetorical questions I have ever seen. You've been around here a loooong time. You've got 4,400+ posts worth of experience in the field. You know exactly what will happen. You're just an optimist, and you'd like to believe that if we lose, things won't go down around here like you know they surely must...

If we lose . . .

. . . then that means Carr is not a leader anymore.

yup...

The biggest key to this game isn't the defense, but the offense.

If the Texans offense doesn't show up the first 3 quarters (which is how they normally play) they probably won't need to play the 4th quarter. The defense will either be too worn down to get the ball back without allowing any points or the offense will have too big of a hole to dig out of.

The Texans offense still hasn't scored a point in the 3rd quarter!

The Texans are averaging points by quarter thru six games as follows:

1st - 3.4
2nd - 4.4
3rd - 0.0
4th - 12 (take out the 21 point from the Colts game and the average is 7.8 in the 4th quarter)

Keep in mind 4 of those games were at home. In the Texans two road games, the Texans didn't score a TD in a game that meant anything. Those three TDs against Indy really don't count, the game was way out of hand by then.

Winning on the road with rushing yards of 90 and throwing for 200 yards with short passes and only scoring 17 points makes for tough games to win unless you have an elite defense.

Bottom line, the defense has been much improved these last three games and the offense should be able to pick up more of the slack by scoring TDs through the entire game.

The Titans could have a huge day against the Texans by simply grinding the ball with the running game and keeping the Texans offense from getting anything started early, which isn't that hard to do from what we have seen the first six games.

So if we score 28 points in the third quarter and get shut out otherwise, what will there be left to complain about?

:chicken:

Your a totally missing the point and/or trying to make some attempt at a joke. Very poor job, just like the offense through the first 3 quarters of play this year.

BTW, I am not complaining, those are the facts.

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

I fully expect us to win but am prepared for a loss. I think it should be a great game. I am still sticking with a prediction of 6 wins and we have the Titans (twice), Jets, Brown, Bills, and Raiders ahead of us with the Bills, Titans, and Browns at home. It is not out of line to think that we split the series with the Titans and I don't think we lose to them at home so they could pull this one out.

To address your question, we end up at 2-5 and have to put up with a slew of end of the world and worst franchise in football posts, we should have drafted VY posts, and some moronic articles for a week or two.

winning is tough in this league...so yeah, we may lose. It's just a game between two bottom dwelling teams right now...I don't think it has long term implications...if that is what you are getting at.
completely agree.............i think the bigger issue is how either team plays and performs.............if one team wins by a landslide i think it could be a bad sign for the loser.

We are in a tough spot here.

So we dont gain anything from winning, but lose alot more if we lose.

*Why did a team that we have to play twice a year have to draft VY?!!*
I dont see this at all...............MW and RBush will be tied together.............I think VY poses Carr a far bigger problem in houston............and Carr rep has been on fire everywhere the last 18 months already.............if VY develops into a stud Carr is doomed no matter.................Carr was drafted higher and been in the league alot longer than VY.................that is his own pressure and trust me word around your FO is he feels the heat this week already..........

I don't know what will happen. I don't think anything extreme is required if we lose this game.

The Titans have been playing well the past couple of weeks. We're 3-point underdogs. We put together a great game last week but we've been losing for a long time. We can't assume that we're going to win any games until we start putting wins together. We've got to start winning and then start being consistent about it.

At this point in the season, we've got 2 more wins than I thought we'd have. So even if we lose to the Titans, we're still ahead of where I thought we'd be.

If they lose................. then they lose... sure it will suck, but so what. I like the Texans, but if they lose, they lose. It is a game, and even though we do not want them to lose, that is all it is, a game. Doesn't efect me or you for that matter other than it will just suck..

Just enjoy the game with family and friends, root for them, cuss at the bad plays, bad calls, cheer for the good ones, but remember, at the end of the day, win or lose, it's a game. Life will go on for us all !!
