Patterson seems good at center. I didn't focus on Andrews. Any comments?
The running game had consistent push and little penetration when Andrews was in the game. I haven't studied him specifically yet.Patterson seems good at center. I didn't focus on Andrews. Any comments?
I thought the defense looked a lot better with Ward playing S last yr than without him.The days of Ward being available for an entire year have come and gone. I think like Ray Rice, this will just speed up his exit from the league due to age, injuries, and most important to the league… declining performance.
He may not last the entire season, but I thought Andrews looked pretty good out there today.Exactly what I've been saying from the beginning!
Slightly better maybe. Hard to tell with his lack of availability. Then he took Pitre’s role for a spell until he himself got hurt again. Now he’s a 30+ year old DB with a lisfranc injury. I’m not expecting to see him.I thought the defense looked a lot better with Ward playing S last yr than without him.
Ward played 100% of the defensive snaps the first 3 games. After that, Ward was either injured or in a part-time role. He misplayed a deep ball in the opener vs the Colts that led to a TD.I thought the defense looked a lot better with Ward playing S last yr than without him.
Ward has always been an above avg player that could play S or slot CB at a high enough level to start for SB level teams. Most of all he's the tone setter that Ryans wants for his secondary and that's as valuable as his play on the field IMHO.Ward played 100% of the defensive snaps the first 3 games. Ward has played in 20 of a possible 36 games in his 2 seasons with the Texans. Ward has never been a Pro Bowl caliber player, even with the Niners. Entering his age 34 season with injury and off the field concerns, I just don't see the upside of keeping Ward around. Ward has played the bulk of his career with Ryans, so I would trust DeMeco's decision. I just believe that will be showing Ward the door.
There are plenty of tone setters in the secondary, now. Ward is not the guy he was, and he was a little overrated then. Most of all he's the tone setter that Ryans wants for his secondary and that's as valuable as his play on the field IMHO.
Ward’s value was to teach the players DeMeco’s scheme. Will we see Ward in September or lose him to a summer love?Ward played 100% of the defensive snaps the first 3 games. After that, Ward was either injured or in a part-time role. He misplayed a deep ball in the opener vs the Colts that led to a TD.

The type of knee injury Gardner-Johnson sustained can be treated through a combination of rest and rehab, or even a PRP shot to address the inflammation in the joint. In more severe injuries, it can be treated with an arthroscopic procedure.
C. J. Gardner-Johnson may have dodged the bullet with no ACL, but with the information I've been able to gather, he has sustained what is referred to as Hoffa's fat pad syndrome (also known as infrapatellar fat pad impingement or fat pad syndrome). This occurs when the fat pad at the knee joint is crushed between the the back of the patella (knee cap) and the femur.
View attachment 15727
Fat pad impingement as a a primary diagnosis where only the fat pad is injured is very uncommon. Most often it is associated with other knee injuries such as patellar tendonitis, patellofemoral pain syndrome, patellar subluxation/dislocation, meniscus tears, osteoarthritis and even ACL tears. This is why "syndrome" is often added to the diagnosis, meaning that more than one thing is at play.
In my experience, most will recover well with conservative treatment. This is quite a painful condition, and can be excruciatingly so when extending the leg (which maximally compresses the fat pad). The rehab to return is variable and not altogether predictable. Initial recovery can take between 8-12 weeks. Full recovery can range from 3-6 months.
In a study of athletes who underwent surgery (arthroscopic debridement) after failing conservative treatment, 96.4% returned to play at an average of 9.6 weeks post-surgery. Furthermore, 82.1% of these athletes returned to the same level of performance.
So, if my information is correct, CJ may have dodged one bullet (the ACL) and been hit by another............. with hopefully a good outcome ultimately.
I actually said that PRP may be entertained after a period of time with typical conservative treatment.
Steroid injections and possible addition of oral steroids are typically given very early in the treatment to quickly bring down the significant inflammation/swelling/pain associated with the injury. There is a conflict between steroid and PRP mechanisms. Steroids reduce inflammation, while PRP relies on an inflammatory response to initiate healing. Therefore, injecting PRP immediately after a steroid injection lessens the effectiveness of the PRP treatment. And be aware that PRP can take a few weeks to see or feel the initial results of the treatment.
He’s a major tone setter. I’m not even on the field or in the stadium but I can still tell he clearly changes the feeling of the game with his physicality.I thought the defense looked a lot better with Ward playing S last yr than without him.
My sentiments exactly. He brings a super charged energy to the game. He’s a major tone setter. I’m not even on the field or in the stadium but I can still tell he clearly changes the feeling of the game with his physicality.

Ward is old, injury prone, and a liability in coverage (100+ passer rating against). But hey, he sets a major tone and brings super charged energy. Got it.My sentiments exactly. He brings a super charged energy to the game.
Brooks has a problem Staying healthy. I agree, there were some great blocks by the Texans. What’s the deal with British Brooks? Jack of all trades, master of none? I looked up Swarm in the dictionary and there was his picture. It just seems like to me like they haven’t fully tested him and fully defined his full value. Does he play better than he practices? On another note I don’t think I’ve seen so many blocks that flipped players on their heads as I did Saturday.
One of those blocks were on the Texans. Retribution?Brooks has a problem Staying healthy. I agree, there were some great blocks by the Texans.

I agree about the first two but not the last one. I don’t think he’s been a liability in coverage at all in the last few years maybe the injury and age catch up to him but I haven’t seen it.Ward is old, injury prone, and a liability in coverage (100+ passer rating against). But hey, he sets a major tone and brings super charged energy. Got it.
Also, when Pitre went down last season the D never missed a beat with Ward replacing him, he stepped into that role really well, it was once Ward went down and they ended up experimenting between a hobbled Christian Harris, rookie Kamari Lassiter and Devin White to take up whatever we call the 3rd linebacker/Nickel cornerback/3rd safety position in DeMeco’s scheme. He’s a major tone setter. I’m not even on the field or in the stadium but I can still tell he clearly changes the feeling of the game with his physicality.
Although there can be several reasons for a receiver going up for a high pass and coming down in excruciating pain, such as meniscus tear, patellar tendon tear, and knee fracture or dislocation..........the most common likely knee injury is an ACL.Terrible news. Jordan prepares so hard every year and he's so good. I feel bad for this guy.
This is kinda my point. Doesn’t he have to get some legitimate game time to see If/ where he fits? Seems lots of guys that will make this roster haven’t put together many if any “holy ****” plays as he has in really limited action. Some of these secondary guys we keep seeing year after year seem to have never made an impact play but we still get to watch them making a tackle after giving up yet another reception. He has some health issues, but even fully healthy where does he fit?
Jakob Johnson (That's his name right?) has the inside track to FB. And at HB/RB, that room is super crowded if/when everyone is healthy. Mixon is eventually coming back. Even if he misses a game or two, he has a roster spot. Chubb has a concussion per Doc. He'll be back for the reg season as well. I think he's a near lock. Dare - they love him. He's got a spot. That's 3. Marks is the guy they traded up for. He's a lock. That's 4. Will they keep 6 backs total? He'd need that number AND he would have to beat out Pierce and Pierce should be back very soon at full speed.
The math ain't mathin for British, although I like him a lot. I'd say he is cut and offered a spot on the PS if he clears waivers.
Unfortunate news. The team loves him. I wouldn’t be surprised if the team finds a way to get him on the coaching staff when he officially calls it quits.Terrible news. Jordan prepares so hard every year and he's so good. I feel bad for this guy.
You asked Copilot...........but didn't ask me???This injury is his left leg. I just asked Copilot which leg Jordan injured in 2024, and it said "...The affected leg remains unspecified in public reports." I was trying to gain confirmation it was the right leg in 2024.
I always hoped that Jordan would be good, but he never seemed to be on the field long enough to be anything other than hurt.Terrible news. Jordan prepares so hard every year and he's so good. I feel bad for this guy.
So replace Jordan, a guy who cannot stay on the field with another guy who cannot stay on the field?Man that sucks. Bennie Joppru's ghost. If this is another season ender, it's time to cut bait and let that fish find a new dwelling.
Hopefully, we get news like CJGJ, but some guys (Harris is an injury just waiting to happen) cannot stay healthy so they never reach their potential. Sad for Brevin...but as a team...it's who is going to step up.
I'm not sure Lachey is ready, and he's a totally different beast in terms of skillset. Irv? Sort of the same thing. Not that guy.
Thinking a bit outside the box, but could this open the door for a guy like British Brooks. Make him sort of a swiss army knife
You asked Copilot...........but didn't ask me???
No article ever mentioned which leg Brevin suffered his ACL in. But doing some "detective work" looking thru any pictures or videos I could find..................I came across this picture of him at the Texans last OTA.

It is exactly like that! You quote Jordan's history of injuries and then ignore Brooks history? After he was signed, I gave his history in college which was horrible. It continued his first year in the NFL and everyone is holding their breath to see when he gets hurt again. I would love to have both of them participating in good health, but that has not and almost certainly will not. It’s not exactly like for like. Apples and strawberries. Brevin has a long history of injuries and a draft pick was used to acquire him and was being counted on to contribute. Feel terrible for him, but football is a business, and at what point do you cut bait? Let’s wait to see what it is, but it would not be shocking if it’s an ACL or some other ligament tear.
British is a 2nd yr UDFA….on the outside looking in for a roster spot and essentially no path to the roster at RB. One year with injuries does not a repeated injury history make…yet. My idea is he seems like a versatile guy. ST stud, can play RB, FB, and some sort of hybrid TE/H-back.
Why not use his versatility and his ST prowess and make him into an offensive Swiss Army knife. It’s useful to have a guy like this active because he can fill in a various spots if an injury occurs or just to give the defense a different look. Just spitballing.
The accepted average risk of an ipsilateral ACL rupture within a year is ~15% seen in very recent study (some studies have the risk even greater, some lower). You're right, I shouldn't lose faith so quickly in human intelligence over our machine overlords.
Since his injury today was also his left knee, and reinjury of a surgically repaired ACL is rare, are the odds higher it's his MCL? If so, that's like a four month recovery right?
Jordan said his ACL last year wasn't that painful, but he was hurting today. I remember when Welker blew his MCL against the Texans. He was in a lot of pain.
Like the "clarity" we received for CJGJ?Patience is a virtue wait for the official injury report. It may show us the extent of the injury and/or the length of recovery time going into 2025.
I always hoped that Jordan would be good, but he never seemed to be on the field long enough to be anything other than hurt.
