Schedule Release

maybe 10 wins only because the defense will be dominant. I’ll give us the win over the rams since our oc is a former staff member

I have us losing to the Bucs, ravens, seahawks, broncos, bills, colts(1x), chiefs

I saw too many coaching errors on and off the field from Demeco last season. New line, oc, receivers. I’m not very confident in the oline again this season. Texans continue to hire first time oc’s which made 0 sense. I feel pretty good about our receiver core. Maybe they can win 11+ games if Demeco doesn’t bs around and hold people accountable every week.

Those guys are morons. Not the only morons on Houston radio. Just the most moronic.
John Lopez should be doing movie reviews with Pancakes instead of being on any media outlet.
1000% truth, but only because the sheeple keep swallowing that shield shaped pill. And because they do, we’ll keep lining these billionaires pockets if it kill us.

I like MLBs schedule release. They do it in August while the current season is still going on, and it just shows up on your timeline. No hoopla, no leaks, none of this manufactured drama.
I think it's more of a shield shaped suppository but semantics...semantics...

Not a big fan of those guys, either. "Guy radio" doesn't appeal to me. But I was talking about Show and Clint. Show is a Texan hater and Clint took too many hits to the head in college. The only reason I even tune into those guys is when there is news about the Texans. And they're impossible to listen to then.

Maybe I'm just an old man now (I'm 43), but for whatever reason, when I have listened to that show it sounds like listening to three little kids talk about how they see the world. I'm not looking for ivy league discourse or anything, but just people that may have more insight on the topics they talk about than I do. Their sports takes are usually low hanging fruit and full of knee-jerk and overreactions about whatever topic they're talking about. Also, outside of Clint, when they do talk about women, they sound like a couple of virgins talking about what it might feel like to actually touch a woman's breast.

The NFL has significantly higher revenue than MLB has. Everything the NFL does is geared toward making revenue.

I think it’ll be us and then the Jags.
I think us and Indy.

From the moves Indy made this year I think their defense which has good players will be much improved and I don’t think Steichen is worried about QB health any longer and will probably employ the most QB run heavy scheme in the league. Which I think can be very successful. Richardson will undoubtedly get injured and Jones likely will as well but I don’t think it will matter to them as they’ll be getting used as runners more than anything.

You win the prize.

Week 7 (Oct. 20):
  • Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 7 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN
  • Seattle Seahawks vs. Houston Texans, 10 p.m. ET, ESPN+
I didn't realize they did a doubleheader on MNF multiple times in a season
I don't get Prime Video or ESPN+ so I will be missing those two games. I will have to watch highlights of them on Youtube.

I'm happy no European bullshit games.

Only care about the schedule to see if my usual habits are disrupted by late or primetime games, or to see if any holidays are disrupted.

Other than that, all good with me. Story is always the same. Stay healthy and keep it clean and disciplined and we can compete with anyone.
We could have beaten the KC Chiefs in the playoffs last season if it wasn't for the injuries, Slowik and our piss poor offensive line as well as some momentum changing bad calls by the refs. We could be very good if our offensive line is at least middle of the pack and Nick Caley is anywhere near as good as we expect him to be as our offensive coordinator. That is a BIG IF!

Bucs might have a rookie S starting vs the Texans.

I am a CU Buffs fan and I always felt Shilo was underrated. Given his dad and how he has been raised I am not surprised in hearing this news. Arrogance or whatever you want to say Deion's boys have doesn't matter. Of coarse some people misperceive confidence as arrogance but whatever you want to call it the most successful people seem to have a semblance of it. Probably in large part because they aren't afraid of taking chances and they don't just do well from natural abilities, they work hard at being their best and it usually pays off!

I did think it was in poor taste Deion and his sons flashing a lot of bling on the draft nights but I am still a fan of Deion and his sons.

No I am not a Buffs bandwagon fan. I have been a CU Buffs fan since 1985.

How have the Texans avoided a Euro trip throughout their history? Is Cal not allowed to get a passport?
We played the Jags @ Wembley about 6 years ago, but it was classed as a road game.

I’d like us to play a Euro game every season btw, purely being selfish 🤣.

The last 2 yrs the Texans have come out and ran the ball like gangbusters in game 1, followed by not being able to run the ball well for the rest of the yr.
In fairness last season it was more because Indy couldn’t stop a team from running the ball for about the first 4 weeks than it was anything about what the Texans were doing.

I hope we don't start 0-3 or even 1-2

2-1 is what I see. But, I can see 3-0 as well. The teams we play in the 1st 2 games are good. But, unless the OL is awful, the pass rush from both should not be in CJs lap all game. And if he has time, we know what he can do. And the Jags...nuf said.

I think the Rams will be a good game that we could lose. The Bucs are good, but I don’t think they added enough on defense during the offseason. I think we come out on top against the Bucs and Jags.

Rams is an evenly matched game on the road. Would not be surprised with a loss, but expect a win because this team is Super Bowl caliber (just like the Rams will be this season).

Bucs is a similar situation as the Rams except Texans play them at home. Rams, Bucs and Texans all finished with the same 10-7 record in regular season. Bucs and Texans smashed a paper tiger in the first round (partially thanks to hosting a home playoff game) then lost in round 2. Rams lost to Commanders in the 1st round in a close game.

I expect the Texans to win every game on this schedule in a vacuum but as the season injuries happen things come into focus. I think this team can win the 13-15 games required to get the 1 seed. We knew the teams the Texans had to play and this schedule sets up better than last season’s both from a “strength of schedule” and logistics perspective. No three game in 11 day stretch, primetime games are evenly spaced out. Only play two road games in consecutive weeks one time. 9 home games this season. It’s a favorable schedule overall, every team plays tough teams on their schedule.

First 3 I have us 2-1 unless the OL plays lights out and everything gels in game 1. So, could be 3 - 0 but I don't think everything will gel game 1. So, we could win but I give the Rams a 3pt win

We got a new oline and new oline coaches. Until we see them playing, I'm not sure we can predict anything. The defense should be good, but the question mark is the offense, particularly the line.

Jokers glass is 95% full, thank you very much! All bets are off if CJ loses a big chunk of time, but assuming the usual injury rate and CJ surviving…

My best case is 12 wins. My worst case is 9 wins…again all with relative health.

I have faith in this D…but its not perfect. I suspect we will still see too many shots over the top. Teams almost have to play like that. If they try the donk/dunk method, its a long slow death. Tackling may still be an issue too. That said…they have a real chance to be a top 5 defense all factors considered. The defense is worth 12 or 13 wins pretty easily.

Special teams? Last year was very meh on teams. They drafted and signed giys that i think can get teams back to a top 10…maybe top 5 teams units. Another unit that can support a 12 or 13 win team.

Then we have the offense. This is an 8 win offense. Relying on rookie receivers is fools gold, but the real issue here is the same one weve been dealing with since the Truman administration. So now a new coach who is also an old coach is working with a bunch of guys that should be on milk cartons. Tossing Tunsil was the best move of the offseason but they did nothing on the interior. Ok they did something technically…but did they substantially improve? This is the key to those of you super optimistic types. If they do get to or near Joker’s wildly optimistic win total…its 100% because this line is kicking ass and taking names. A mid case gets us to around 10…maybe 11. This middle area is where i am. A worst case on the line could net 8 wins….or even worse. Simply put…This line holds the key to the season.

This schedule looks as tough as anything Ive seen for us.
Texans will be tested this season for sure.
Still, the old adage holds here- if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.
Gonna be tough though.

The Texans in their entire history have never been to the playoffs three years in a row. Unless something goes horribly wrong, they should at least break that cycle this year.

Agree, even with the inexperience at receiver, a total reshuffling of the line and a first time play caller, they still look like the class of the division to me. The Jags have arguably made the most improvement in the offseason, and the Jags now have serious firepower on offense. But Goldilocks isn’t CJ, and their D was bad last year. Did they do enough there? I’d say no. Still…I have them in 2nd place…possibly could push for a WC spot. I have Colts in a close 3rd. And the Tits again bringing up the rear.

I'm very interested in seeing how the Texans play against the top tier teams in the AFC this season the two games I have in mind is the game is Sunday night prime time against the Ravens in Baltimore and the prime afternoon game against the Chiefs in Arrowhead I hope the games are close in the worst scenario but in the best I would love to CJ step up in the biggest moments in those games I think those games will be a good judge of our season and what to expect in the future if that means taking the next step into the higher tier of play in the AFC or staying mediocre and course correcting

I think the Ravens have become our kryptonite. If we can beat them in the regular season my hopes to go deep in the playoffs will skyrocket.
