Tunsil dealt to Washington

First, Tunsil was a drive killer with his league high penalty count. He personally took the run out of consideration by adding yardage to many plays. That led to more blitzes. Maybe not to the extent of the Chiefs Jawaan Taylor, but Tunsil had a tell by rocking back on his heels on passing downs. And he was an average run blocker at best. Hell, even Kenyon Green had some pancake blocks on runs.

Basically, Tunsil often turned the Texans offense one dimensional by himself. I couldn't care less what the PFF graders say. Tunsil was no longer an All Pro LT. He had his worst season as a Texan in 2024. When a guy regresses and no longer earns a high salary, he is replaced in the NFL. There was no reason for the Texans to think Tunsil would have a bounce back season. So they cut bait. Happens all over the league.
A false start is not a drive killer... unless they're back to back like that one time. But that's fine.

Your "football reasons" are highly subjective & if that's what the Texans think... yeah, there was a football reason to trade your best lineman. Probowl or not.

They decided to go a different way, no more a football reason than Duane Brown. & theirs nothing wrong with that.

The issue is if they don't get some decent veteran talent in free agency, they'll have to lean on the draft. At least with free agents you mostly (sometimes) know what you're getting. Any draft pick can be a bust. How many good olinemen have Caserio/DeMeco/new oline coach drafted yet?

Is that a trick question?

If you are say in 3rd and 1 then there’s a false start… now you’re in 3rd and 6. Maybe the analytics nerds can help me out but i’m pretty sure teams are less likely to convert on 3rd and 6 than they are 3rd and 1. And the play calling options are much more limited…

And the Texans faced 3rd and long more than most teams last season, helped in large part by pre snap penalties. Of which Tunsil was the biggest offender.

I'm sorry. I should have said a false start is not a drive killer for a good offense. For what we had on the field last season, absolutely. False starts, any penalty, drop, tfl, bobbled snap, etc... is a drive killer for the Texans 2024 offense.

Good teams don't sit around thinking, "y'know we gave that guy a lot of money, he's been through a lot for us & with us. We paid him like we love him & thinks he's the bees knees...

but the false starts... let's get him himthafk out of here."

This has got to be the saddest day of my life. He's gone and I don't know how to take it. He's gone he's gone. When you see me I'm going to cry cry. I'm going to miss you and that ain't no lie. When he's gone it's going to hurt me and that's no lie lie lie. Let's just hug and say Goodbye!

Thank to the Manhattens.
