Texans Player Transaction DISCUSSION Thread

I expected this and going to leave it up to Demeco. 7 million is a lot more than I would have given but hopefully he will earn it.
Not really totally sold on this move.

Rankins last year missed 3 games with a hamstring injury before returning in Week 6 for the next 5 games. During that span, he totaled 1 sack and 1 quarterback hit. He then missed the final 7 games of the regular season with what coach Zac Taylor initially said was a viral illness.

The phrasing in the tweet sounded a lot like his contract might be based more around incentives.

I'd bet games played is a big part of that.

A “glue guy” role player for the Chiefs’ undermanned receiver corps the past three seasons, Watson will serve the same role in Houston as the Texans wait on Tank Dell (leg) to get healthy behind Nico Collins. Houston is also presumably moving on from Robert Woods, and is unsure if Stefon Diggs (ACL) will be back. Despite those depth issues, we would fully expect 29-year-old (next month) Watson to remain in the 15-20 reception range for 2025.

Texans agreed to terms with WR Braxton Berrios, formerly of the Dolphins, on a one-year, $2 million contract.
Berrios finished last year on injured reserve after suffering a major knee injury in Week 7. Interestingly, he played more outside than inside for the Dolphins last year — 61 snaps outside, 51 in the slot. He probably profiles as depth at this point in his career, entering his age-30 season. Berrios has experience as a returner and that could be the ultimate aim of this signing for the Texans.

They must really like someone in this draft or intend to replace him with a similar talent.
Good luck with that.
The picks are: Washington’s a 2026 second-rounder, 2025 third-rounder, 2026 fourth-rounder and 2025 seventh-rounder. This is a wild trade on its face for the Texans: They are moving on from their only true left tackle and not getting much in the way of premium picks. Tunsil had a 89.1 PFF pass block grade in 2024 and while he’s never been good as a run blocker, he’s been acceptable out there. But Tunsil is entering his age-31 season, and getting off his contract frees up $13.8 million in cap space for the Texans. The Commanders, meanwhile, have solidified the offensive line for Jayden Daniels. And while 31 seems old in the NFL, elite left tackles have played well into their 30s. It’s a puzzling move for the Texans on first blush, and they will now have the burden of replacing Tunsil without anything more to show for it in 2025 but third- and seventh-round picks.

Tunsil was both a good thing to have and a good thing to trade away. I think the Texans got what they could for him, if they waited another year they'd have gotten less.

Now comes the hard part. Who the **** is going to be our new LT?
Exactly.
I doubt NC walked into this trade without a backup plan.
I think it's gonna be Cam Robinson - trouble is, Patriots also have eyes on him

Well, there's always Julien Davenport, who after spending a summer month in 2024 with the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas only to be released and picked up a month later to the Falcons PS for a month, then released and re-signed to their PS for another month before being released again. So he is FREE to be signed to replace Tunsil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I think the Roughnecks need him more than the Texans.

oops Go Texans! Heed the call we need OL ie tackles guards add centers too can't have too many. Allow me to ask someone whatever happened to the Mixon stuff about something big is gonna happen. It's been quiet at the front.

Yep, that's why they traded Tunsil when they did.

To Answer your question,

One of Banks/Simmons/Campbell or Conerly.

If they go the vet route I bet they go cheap with Willis.

Also bringing back Barnett as the top reserve on the edge and Taylor in that designated pass rusher role. DL will be set!
The DL should be really good next yr.

Add a DT/CB and this defense will be elite.

For people what want a S and LB that can cover TE's, CJ and Harris are Caserio/Ryans answers.

If I'm Caserio I'm looking to package my 5th/6th/7th rd picks and move up into the 4th to pick Upton Stout Nickle CB from Western Kentucky.

Stewart will be the last safety on the roster. solid ST guy and decent in spot duty. Happy.

Happier still with Mario Edwards. Still want to draft a young DT with serious upside, but it no longer needs top priority. Maybe 3rd round.

If someone would put together what our roster looks like as of now, it would be appreciated. It also would help looking at the draft big boards. I am moving defensive tackle off mine as I wanted Alfred Collins round two. I still love him but not with our roster as is. Need to spend that draft pick elsewhere if Nick doesn't Trade It.

What do you think about Grey Zabel? He’s been one of my draft crushes even if he may be more of an interior guy - although I always prescribe to the “prove he can’t do it” line of thinking with players.

I really like the idea of Zabel at C, but not sure Nick would draft a small school guy in the first; and the need might have shifted some this week

Why only at C?

Agree about the small school thing although I think at some point Nick will take someone from a small school.

Not only at C, but the idea of a big, athletic, smart, mean guy at C would go a long way to solving the Oline problems. Look at the impact Graham Barton had in TB this year

Yeah, I'm a Brahmas fan as well because of Wade Phillips and it's a Texas team that isn't Dallas to follow besides the pathetic Roughnecks.
Awesome Thorn me too Roughnecks next on fav list behind Brahmas. The Alamodome is a great place for football good seats all around.

I won't watch a league that has no real ties to the NFL financially yet offers talent to the NFL. Unless an unpaid UFL isn't just here to be a free B**** for the NFL, I could care less for the USELESS FOOTBALL LEAGUE!

Daryl "Moose," Johnston says they want to be independent of the NFL yet nothing I have seen comes close to showing that to be the case.

With a possible players strike for the UFL players and the merged league not wanting to answer to their modest demands, I have no desire to follow the league. The NFL for the most part doesn't need or truly want the UFL's marginal talent that couldn't make it in the NFL coming out of college anyhow. The possibility of one or two feel good stories a year just is not all that interesting to me. Most UFL players will be nothing more than sub par special teams players or practice squad chumps! With no spring league ever again being anything like the original USFL I could care less and won't tune in!

Good for you, we went to a game before Covid and had a great time.

The XFL 2 was a solid league and doing things right. This so called UFL is a joke just as the original UFL was. Hell just the fact that they brought back the UFL name which was a joke of a league looks bad. They can't even market their league or get involved in their communities in a way that says their serious about being successful. I have tried to get my friends to get interested in watching games and they think it is a joke. Yes going to NFL games is expensive but it is mostly free to watch the best players play on TV. If the UFL won't even be bothered to have a weekly show on at least one of their Tv affiliates or have those networks football shows give them honorable mention, than it should be no surprise when TV ratings tank and the stadiums they play in are mostly empty. The only city at this time that supports the UFL enough to inspire confidence is St. Louis, Missouri! Maybe if they last and the league brings back the XFL 3 Seattle Sea Dragons with their dragon slug logo that city will support their team and the league. The only reason those two cities got a lot of support was because they carried over from before Covid started and ended the XFL 2 which looked like it had a real chance to succeed. I predict season two is the last season for the UFL!
