Texans off season needs.

Have you looked at the wr's who make 10m a year? Gabe Davis,Mooney, and those guys are at 13m per. Jakobi Meyers and guys like that. 10-13m is the going rate for a #2/3 type of wr. The higher quality wr's are 18-20m. Slayton at 10m per for 3 yrs is a good deal. He played on a 2yr 6m per last year.
I jst got through looking at some Stafford highlights because he was trending on X. I definitely want them to sign Robinson, maybe Atwell too. Robinson made some huge downfield catches in the playoffs against the Eagles quality secondary. He also had big games against the Seahawks. He did very well in limited playing time. He's this yrs Mooney and I still haven't figured out why his value by Spotrac is so low?

Any TE who is willing can become a good blocker. Maybe not Gronk level, but Shannon Sharpe was blocking dudes at 225 lbs. Never was an issue. If you have a guy, if healthy like Brevin Jordan who is a matchup problem, why would you have him trying to be a inline blocker.
Yeah overall there are a lot of things that have been head scratchers on how players have been used on offense and not just during Slowik's time here...and to use one of @thunderkyss lines, TEs that have been known to block seem to forget how when they get here.

Evans is definitely an above avg blocker, I only watched 3 regular season ND games and he blocked well when called to do so. He doesn't seem too athletic so I don't think he'll test well but I think he's a player with a high ceiling that will probably come off the board in the 5th.

Robinson is the same player we all thought of Robert Woods when we signed him a couple of seasons ago. Even with Robinson, we are still going to need a WR2.
I'm on board with picking Evans at 4-125

Robinson has way more juice than Woods did when he came to the Texans. Woods was in his 2nd season coming off of an ACL. He had lost his mojo.

I ask you to go checkout Stafford's highlights and you will see Robinson was a playmaker last yr. The Eagles playoff game in particular.

I do not think that Cayley is considering the speed of Schultz. Most of what Schultz does is going to be across the middle on short slants or the tight end picking his hole. Wait that doesn't sound right?
I get it with those run away routes or jerk routes, but it doesn't seem like even on those he's not getting any separation from when I watch the all 22. Its a certain shiftiness I saw from him before that I didn't see this year.

He got paid and stopped working at his craft.

On paper, that OL would be better than what we currently have. But I'm still on the Fries train at RG.

Arroyo is a favorite of mine with his athleticism and route-running ability, but blocking is an area of concern in his game. Plus don't forget we still have Cade Stover, whose background is/was solid blocking. If you're looking for a more well-rounded, blocking-focused tight end, then why not Mitchell Evans from Notre Dame in the 5th round or later. He is more of a traditional in-line tight end who should contribute immediately in the run game.

I listened to a Bryan Broddus podcast tonight (Former Packers SB winning scout) He's got Arroyo in the early 4th. So you never know.

Whether through draft or f/a, I’m going in this order. Oline should be the top priority. Grab 2 #2 option receivers. Find a reliable tight end. Grab a tough safety who will takeover for Jimmy when he fakes his injury week 2. Grab a promising slot cb who can sub in when a db gets injured. Grab a DT. Keep improving your stellar Dline

One year for $23 million? I think the Chiefs could live with that if the can’t come together with Smith on a long term deal.
$7.5 m cap space. Where does other $16 m come from? You cannot prorate it over void years.

I’m back to realizing Caserio and Ryans are content with the OL going into the 2025 season. If this turns out to be the case, Tunsil and Howard should have their arses in the room the moment camp opens. Neither one of these guys had a season that should put them in coast mode.

They could very well be prepared to put this OL on the field:

LT- Tunsil
LG- Howard
OC- Patterson
RG- Scruggs
RT- Fisher

Of the starting five, Howard would be the weak link in my eyes. I really hope the Texans are willing to take a LG like Jackson in the draft….just to be covered if Howard shites the bed. I believe the OL would be a better unit with Jackson.

LT- Tunsil
LG- Jackson (R)
OC- Patterson
RG- Scruggs
RT- Fisher

Jackson, Patterson, Scruggs, and Fisher will provide running lanes for Mixon….that would be fairly certain.

Texans have 6 picks. They could really use an extra pick. Cap space is going to be tight unless Caserio does some magic. If it remains 6 picks:
LG
WR
DT
DE
WR
SS

If there was a 7th pick:
LG
WR
DT
RB
DE
WR
SS

If Donovan Jackson slips through RD1….he’s probably not going to make it past the first 9 picks or pick 41.

Would folks consider LG- Donovan Jackson (Ohio State) a reach at 25?

He's a 10 year starter, so no he's not a reach at 1-26 IMHO.

I'm sure they've got things figured out. This isn't a hard cap. This is about how much money owners are willing to put up front in a signing bonus to keep their championship windows open. The Eagles are masters at this.

Yeah this is the realization I came to a couple of weeks ago. I think that a backup guard will be taken either in later rounds or as a seasoned free agent. One thing about it, it does open up a draft pick in our top three picks. Broeker on roster and Kendrick could return at minimum wage.

The rumor now is that guard Thune will be moved.

Howard should stay at rt and sign Fries as a guard. Patterson at center and whomever at the other guard.

They could extend Hunter, cut Mason and create about 30m

Bank of Mahomes will get them over $30 million in cap space.
Perhaps, but his base of 16 million is the only thing that can be moved into the future and still have to have some base for this season. His cap hit for this year is already 66 million dollars.

I am so done with Shaq Mason. His boiler prevents him from moving at all. Him and Kenyon can just go. I guess with Kenyon he is getting paid if here or not, but maybe addition by subtraction or just practice squad him. He cannot be allowed out there to kill his QB
Shaq was bad in Tampa, they were about to cut him

Shaq was at least adequate in 23, but he took a turn in the wrong direction in 24. Im not 100% convinced they will cut him, at least not yet. They may want to see who they can sign/draft before making any rash decisions.

We just restructured Nico’s contract.. freeing up 10 mil in cap space. I wouldn’t mind adding Garrett Wilson! He would be a great complement to Nico.

They haven’t extended him yet
He under the Jets for two more years whether they extend him or not and as discussed other places on this forum...massively expensive to trade for and then there is this
