Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

I don’t think anything is going to happen. The NFL won’t suspend him and he will continue to be the QB for the Browns next season.

Nothing happens. Money exchanges hands and the thing gets swept under the rug.

It is the system we live in.
If this indeed is in that hands of law enforcement, it is out of the hands of the NFL.

Yep. All of Watson’s victims out there, which there are still many, need to go with a different attorney.

That’s not how it works. He has a team of professionals. He is the face and voice. He reviews the cases with the team that gets the data and information he needs.

Not all of the accusers have gone with Buzbee. One is pending where the attorney is not him. It would be in the best interest for the accusers and other victims to actually take Watson to trial. They aren’t getting nearly enough they would in a judgement because Buzbee is friends with Rusty.

The most egregious case so far is on the trial docket for later this month...............the case of the mentally challenged victim..........not represented Buzbee.

@CloakNNNdagger

What we talked about but I thought about this, this morning. Such NDA wouldn’t stop law enforcement.
This shouldn't keep the NFL from interviewing Watson to get him on record..............but the NFL is more interested in burying it. And in one of his interviews re. the recently "resolved" case, he (and Hardin as his attorney) stated they knew nothing about this victim..............and that is after Buzzbee said he tried to resolve this case with Watson and Hardin for 10 months prior to the filing of the suit.................so that would have to mean the NFL didn't know about it either. This would be a violation of the NFL's agreement with Watson as far as identifying all of his potential victims prior to the agreement.

Mhmmmm. They are still going to have to interview Watson and will catch him lying.

This case's "resolution" may not be a done deal............It would be funny as heck if the victim signed an NDA...............got the money..............and went to the NFL and law enforcement anyway. I don't see how Watson and Hardin could turn around and sue the plaintiff.............since the NDA would not be legal in a sexual assault case.

A league spokesperson declined to comment Monday night.

Buzbee previously told ESPN that the woman, as well as two additional witnesses, planned to speak with the NFL. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether the woman still intended to interview with the league as part of its investigation. LINK

I’m also not sure what sort of assurances Rusty got that she was not or did not file a police report. She could also file as Jane Doe there as well. This was very very very risky by Rusty. She could still go to the police with this as evidence as Watson’s attempt to cover up the crime. The evidence here sounds like it could be strong.

As I rethink on this, I believe this complainant was discovered in a deposition by the other attorney in a pending lawsuit against Watson. She was able to obtain all incident reports from HPD regarding Watson. This would mean Watson paid an amount likely well over the requested $1,000,000 in order for her not to cooperate with the police. In which Watson can still be questioned especially now that he supposedly paid her.

@CloakNNNdagger I found something that I must clarify. The complainant who has the mental and intellectual disability, her attorney is going to court on 10/21/2024 one week from today. This appears to be a motion for trial on merits, where the facts of the case are presented and the judge may decide that it is ready for trial. If that is the case an actual trial date will be set for early next year.

As a wise man once said................"Justice delayed is justice denied"................

It’s been about a week now and the lawsuit regarding video evidence is still pending. I know Buzbee said it was settled, but the last time multiple cases were settled it took 8 days for the case to be dismissed. This is just one case.

Have to admit this is funny and sad. If this is in the wrong thread can someone move it?

Roger Goodell says NFL continues to review latest Deshaun Watson allegation
By Mike Florio
Published October 15, 2024 09:12 PM

Settling the latest lawsuit against Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson won’t end the league’s investigation. It nevertheless short circuits it.

Speaking at the conclusion of Tuesday’s quarterly ownership meeting in Atlanta, Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league continues to investigate the allegation of sexual assault and battery, filed on September 10, 2024.

We’re continuing our review like we would,” Goodell said Tuesday, via NFL.com. “As you know, we take the Personal Conduct Policy seriously so our people are working diligently.”

They can work as diligently as they want. With the case settled and the accuser promising confidentiality as part of the negotiated agreement, she won’t be cooperating. And the league has no power to make her meet with investigators.

How can the league even begin to make a case for discipline with nothing more than a civil complaint?

That said, the independent hearing officer who handled the last Watson case (Judge Sue Robinson) has already concluded that his testimony had issues with credibility. Would it be enough for the NFL to introduce the complaint, force Watson to tell his story, and hope she won’t believe him?

It feels like a stretch. Throw in the fact that a suspension possibly would give the Browns an escape hatch from $92 million in remaining guarantees, and the league might not feel compelled to expend resources in a potentially losing effort. Especially if a win would keep the Browns from feeling the full financial pain of a contract that the rest of the league didn’t want them to do.

Seems like Florio is not certain what will happen.

Monday morning one of Watson’s cases is on the docket for a possible trial date. Also, the supposed “settled” case is still showing as active on the district clerk website.
