Yep, this is exactly the point I was trying to make. I want him to move from elite to GOATish. I want the Chiefs game to be announced as a meeting of the two best QBs in the league. Is that fair to a 2nd year QB in his first game back -- Nope.![]()
For sure, but it's a discussion board not an echo chamber. But it's different right? You trust Cj is harder on himself than any of us ever will be. He wasn't perfect.
It's not like David Carr, he saw the same thing on film that we did & never got better.
I can see making an issue, bringing up his errors on a message board, discussing the "issues" when it comes to a guy like that. But Cj?
It's not like we're ignoring them. Just rather discuss the good. than dwell on the one or two plays that "could have" gone the other way.
It was so surprising because I thought the script would have been flipped. The Colts defense had dead legs. With the Colts offense unable to stay on the field, the Time of Possession was 2 to 1 in the Texans favor. Control the clock. Still an important aspect of winning football.
100%Stroud had a 115 QB rating, completed 75% of his passes, made a money throw to ice the game. And he could have played better. Not his A game.
Not a bad place to be in.
I'm pretty sure Steichen was focused on ToP... but there's only so much you can do when you're up against a better team. That day, we were the better team.Always thought Steichen would be the one focused on ToP but they were really just relying on 3 or 4 explosives and not doing much else besides that.
Agree. There is the coach focusing on ToP, and the team executing ToP. From the Colts board, Steichen said "They would defend the run on the way to the QB." There's no way that he expected the running game to go off (nor did any of us here) like it did.I'm pretty sure Steichen was focused on ToP... but there's only so much you can do when you're up against a better team. That day, we were the better team.
If that were the case I would have tried harder to get JT going.I'm pretty sure Steichen was focused on ToP... but there's only so much you can do when you're up against a better team. That day, we were the better team.
maybe. Looked to me like they were trying to get it going, found themselves in 3rd & long & they couldn't convert. If that were the case I would have tried harder to get JT going.
They were absolutely going the deep play route a lot more than a team trying to go ToP would go. We all know the ones Richardson made, but there were ones he missed and a few others that just didn't happen for one reason or another, but it was definitely seeming like their main strategy.
Considering CJ's dad, DeMeco probably could have used a better term than junkie. I would go with gym rat.The man is a football junkie.
Appreciate the consideration.Considering CJ's dad, DeMeco probably could have used a better term than junkie. I would go with gym rat.
His dad sold dope, he wasn’t a junkie.Considering CJ's dad, DeMeco probably could have used a better term than junkie. I would go with gym rat.
Bringing up and discussing a few bad plays isn't dwelling. But it's different right? You trust Cj is harder on himself than any of us ever will be. He wasn't perfect.

Exactly and the fact that although he just played OK, he came up big on that throw on the last drive of the game. ( A perfectly placed pass) That was clutch and what winning QB's do.Stroud had a 115 QB rating, completed 75% of his passes, made a money throw to ice the game. And he could have played better. Not his A game.
Not a bad place to be in.
I didn't say it was. If he's not dwelling the post you quoted does not apply to him. If he dwells, then it applies.Bringing up and discussing a few bad plays isn't dwelling.
maybe. Looked to me like they were trying to get it going, found themselves in 3rd & long & they couldn't convert.
But I'll watch it again.
The Texans defense dominated minus 3 plays and a blocked punt.maybe. Looked to me like they were trying to get it going, found themselves in 3rd & long & they couldn't convert.

Give me those darned stick figures.I didn't say it was. If he's not dwelling the post you quoted does not apply to him. If he dwells, then it applies.
Would you like a diagram with stick figures?
The Texans defense dominated minus 3 plays and a blocked punt.
They've gotta get the ST's cleaned up. I'm surprised nobody has brought this up yet.
Pretty sure it was both, friend. His dad sold dope, he wasn’t a junkie.
OK, so does he lose his elite status because of almost interceptions and an underthrown yet caught ball 50+ yards downfield? The truth is he could have 2 (maybe 3) interceptions that he was lucky on. The fact that the defensive player was just ever so slightly out-of-bounds on the short lob was lucky, and the fact that he under-threw to a double covered Nico Collins could have been another one. In that case his rating would have gone down significantly. CJ is already elite 1 season and 1 game into it and I'm not arguing that (I'm amazed by it), but if we want to go all the way the team has to set a higher standard.
If we had lost that would have been one of the headlnes (look at the titans game), we won so it was just a 'shite happens' moment. But you're right, that was giving the Colts a free touchdown.
The truth is we made some first-week, knuckleheaded mistakes that kept the Colts close. Luckily, Robinson is so inaccurate he didn't make us pay for the (other) secondary miscommunications.
I feel like the Bears game will be a chance to iron those mistakes out, the Vikings game will put the polish on them, and then the Texans will be ready to get into the meat of the schedule against another divisional rival.
Yes he would have. I would have asked the NFL to rescind his rookie records and see if the Panthers had any interest in exchanging Bryce Young for CJ and a few of our first round picks.OK, so does he lose his elite status because of almost interceptions and an underthrown yet caught ball 50+ yards downfield?
And what do you mean the team needs to set a higher standard? How would the team set a higher standard to CJ's play on Sunday?
Considering CJ's dad, DeMeco probably could have used a better term than junkie. I would go with gym rat.
Apparently so,Did y’all change the title of the thread?
Apparently so,
The question is why did the mods do this, or allow this to be done?
This appears to be a case of the mods just doing whatever the heck they want to do.
That's not what they do around these parts. It is their forum. We are just observers.
It could have been done better to get more participation from other posters. A suggestion thread, and then open it to a vote.
That would have been fun and more inclusive.

Yes .Was this the Welcome to Houston draft thread?
EDIT: I just realized it's gotta be too short to have been that thread.
As the British would say it's a lot of handbags being waved about.
Just to piss off SteelB.Yes .
I started the thread and don’t have any issues with the new title. Lol I’m thinking Thunder changed it.
No postFor sure, but it's a discussion board not an echo chamber.
It requires both sides.
CJ did a HEB commercial with Will Anderson and Toro.I don’t watch much TV so I’m no doubt reporting old news but I just saw CJ in a Lowe’s commercial. Does he do HEB too?
Yes.. Let's put it this way.. Don't take him to a Mexican restaurant.I don’t watch much TV so I’m no doubt reporting old news but I just saw CJ in a Lowe’s commercial. Does he do HEB too?
Give me some Brisket covered with queso and a loaf of garlic bread!Since I've seen that commercial, I've been really craving brisket queso.. God I wish I had some right now and a whole bag of tortilla chips![]()
Hmm, that must be one of them 'fusion' type of things.Give me some Brisket covered with queso and a loaf of garlic bread!
You are who you are, thanks for putting it in writing.I do not know what the thread was previously named. I doubt you do, as well. But some of you just like to whine, so someone did you a service and found you something to whine about. Congratulations.
I dont really have an issue with changing the name of a thread.Yes .
