Without anticipation, the RB wouldn't be able to sustain the block.

I've watched many QBs from USC (Leinart, Sanchez, Barkley) and I had said no.

Similarly, I did not have favorable impressions of QBs from Ohio St., all for the same reason.
The guys around them.

I give Fields a fighting chance if he can become a guy like Lamar Jackson.
(On the side, I noticed that Lamar improved every year in college in the passing game.)

Stroud was the only one I thought was a real legitimate QB prospect.

Didn’t say you did. Just pointed out Coach Ryans didn’t run an exotic defense either. Neither coach did anything to confuse the quarterbacks.

Stroud received some negativity from NFL fans because he played at Ohio State. However, I doubt that any NFL brass cared. As for previous OSU QB's, aside from Justin Fields, none of them were recruited or coached by Ryan Day. Ohio State's previous coaches ran a different offensive system than Ryan Day. In other words, it's apples and oranges.

I can't tell you how much BS this CYA stuff is from Reich. I posted this in March after the trade by Carolina to get the #1 pick. Finding a QB had to be the #1 point of discussion when Reich was interviewing for the Panthers HC job. In this post, I list Reich's 5 traits for a NFL QB from Reich's introductory presser. Also, a quote from Panthers GM Scott Fitterer fawning over Bryce Young. The entire organization was in on Young.

"I will say that he was a little bit bigger in person than I thought he would be,” Fitterer stated. “But I’ll tell you what—sitting down with him, he was so poised and just so in control. And the way he talks football, it was so fluid coming out of his mouth. Coaches couldn’t even get the question out and he’s already answering, or he went on to answer before they even asked the question because he understands the game so much.

“So, yeah, he’s not a big man, but he does so many things well. He sees the field, he processes quickly, he makes the right decisions and he’s just a really good person on top of it. Really smart, really good person.”

Funny, before the draft, there was no doubt BY could play in the NFL. I was pretty adamant about not drafting him, but his ability to play the game had nothing to do with it.

I remember a couple of years ago we were fawning on our rookie QB playing better than the Jags rookie QB. Two drafts later, we're drafting a QB & the Jags appear to be the favorite to win the division. Makes me wonder what things are going to be like two years from now.

Still, like I said, I was adamant about not drafting Bryce because of his small frame. I didn't think he would stand tall in the pocket for long. I don't know if that's his issue just yet or not, haven't really watched him play. But I think it's odd that people are questioning his ability.

When Stroud makes a mistake and he will make a mistake, I'm sure it will be Slowik's fault.

Kinda like when Derrick did something good it was all Derrick, when Derrick did something bad it was all BOB. Ahhh the memories. Maybe after seeing Derrick in Cleveland it wasn't all BOB's fault when something went wrong.

My only concern is that it remains to see if he can get better under pressure. He's close to the bottom in EPA/play under pressure and has one of the worst PFF grades under pressure.

CJ came from a very poor family with a single mother and worked hard and stayed out of trouble. He could have easily went down the other path. He's humble and apparently very well-liked by his teammates, coaches, and fans with the exception of YOU.

As they say, there's no pleasing some people.

It seems to me he's handling it pretty well. He hasn't turned the ball over or taken a sack against Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, and Atlanta. That's THREE games, no sacks and no turnovers.

Stroud has already thrown 186 passes without an interception, the most passes without a pick for any quarterback to start his career.

Right. Show me all of these plays where Stroud pooped on the bed under pressure. Pointing to someone’s grade tells me squat. As I said pre draft, Stroud must be damn perfect when not under pressure.
