I know, it was a joke pointed at the few who are overreacting to CJ throwing an interception.Nah we good. Richardson was alright for a raw qb. AS for whether him or Minshew starts remains to be seen

He was pressured on 60 percent of his drop backsProbably nerves. If it continues then yes it could be a problem but Bill Belichick welcomed Stroud to the NFL with open arms.
I know this is off topic...
71%He was pressured on 60 percent of his drop backs
NE did some exotic things in preseason mode. The oline with basically 2nd stringers didn't help. On the int it was Stroud trying to get a bigger chunk vs check down and punt. The retreat sack was bad, this isn't college. That play and protection was bad from the snap. When it's a breakdown like that, just eat it and loses 5 or 6 yds vs 13 or 14 yds. What's weird is he wasn't really under pressure on the int.
When you've got a rep for being bad under pressure you better believe BB is going to bring pressure with disguised looks on the backend. It really was a great learning experience for Stroud's 1st game to be against a BB defense. He will get better.
It's funny because it looks like he releases the football a different way every time yet he didn't have a single batted ballI know this is off topic...but since people mentioned AR15...does he always throw side or 3/4 arm??? Ball comes flying out but one would think that from that slot and delivery platform a lot of balls are going to get batted down
RIGHT!?!? Thats crazy!! Its a good thing they had their entire starting Oline in there to give him a reasonably clean pocket on most throws...but man his release is all over the place EXCEPT over the top!!It's funny because it looks like he releases the football a different way every time yet he didn't have a single batted ball
Their starting right tackle was missing. A ROOKIE played in his spot. Another thing in the training camp video released today it looked like he changed his throwing motion again to a higher release, but if he can't be consistent it may cause inaccuracy issues.RIGHT!?!? ball sure comes out like its coming out of a cannon though....arm is as advertised for sureTheir starting right tackle was missing. A ROOKIE played in his spot. Oh the poor kidTheir starting right tackle was missing
Anthony Richardson with inaccuracy issues? I see no issues. He's consistently inaccurate.but if he can't be consistent it may cause inaccuracy issues.
Lowered expectations?Competent today. That was all I wanted out of this game and I got it.
He’s a rookie, you should have low expectations near term and extremely high long term, you seem to have extremely high expectations of him now and extremely low expectations for the future.Lowered expectations?
For the record I expect long term Stroud to be avg to slightly above avg. I wouldn't call this low expectations. He’s a rookie, you should have low expectations near term and extremely high long term, you seem to have extremely high expectations of him now and extremely low expectations for the future.
He was running a very basic O and he looked competent doing it, which is a big stride from a week ago where they rattled him early and he fell apart.
We’ll see what base we are building from once the regular season gets going. Just a reminder that even the best ones don’t usually look good at this point of their career.
These are accurate throws outside the numbers. Throws that are Mills’ kryptonite.
As of Saturday, Meco said no day 1 starter has been named yet. However, stated that we will see the starter vs Baltimore. IMO, CJ is the starter unless he really plays bad vs the Saints or the staff want to let him sit a few games to get a better feel for the speed. As no question, even sitting game 1 &2 for example will give him a perfect view of everything on the field. And allow him to practice on what he needs to clean up from seeing it in a game.
No one thinks you're crazy, it's just that the benefits for Stroud to watch rather than play have not been articulated. Stroud is not going to feel the speed of the game by watching. He needs to get the experience of seeing the different coverages and rush packages in real time. If Stroud not had plenty of experience at a power 5 school, yeah he would need to see how a pro QB runs the offense. But CJ isn't having issues picking up the offense. He's ready to find out what playing QB in the NFL is all about.I've made the same point and people think I'm crazy.

I've made the same point and people think I'm crazy. I think he'd be well served by opening as the backup or even #3 for anywhere from 1 - 4 games and then throw him to the wolves. Do I think it will happen? Nope. He's trending toward starting but I'm with you. Taking the pressure off, even for a short time might do him some longer-term good.

You're probably right, but they didn't draft him to do this. Can't sell merch sitting on the bench.I've made the same point and people think I'm crazy. Josh Allen started week 1 I'm fairly sureThinking out loud and my recollection could be wrong so correct me -
I think you have to look at the last few drafts to see how some of the top QBs have done. And look if they sat or started their rookie year. Even if by sitting on the bench was because of injury.
Mahomes - sat then started.
Herbert - sat a 1 games (?) and then started
Burrow - started right away but then got hurt and sat
Tua - started and then benched then started?
Pickett- sat then started
Lawerence- started never sat
Josh Allen - sat then started
Lamar Jackson - sat then started
There are a lot of guys who sat their rookie year by design or injury. Not saying there is a correlation. Just saying.
I really don’t care one way or the other. Whatever coach decides I will be supportive.

I would start him and let him sink or swim.
Josh Allen started week 1 I'm fairly sure
But he started the season for 6 games sat for like a month for whatever reason and then finished out the last 6 games. Don't know how much that countsOnly had 11 starts during his rookie season in 2018.
CMP%: 52.8 / YDS: 2,074 / TD: 10 / INT: 12

Come on, guys.
We're on the internet.
The first pass thrown by a Buffalo Bill in 2018 in the first game against the Ravens was Nathan Peterman, not Josh Allen. Josh Allen came in with 11:22 in the 3rd quarter when the Bills were already down 40-0.
What would be informative is, how well did the "other" qbs perform while the eventual starter sat? That’s the point I was making. You interpret this data as you like but most of those QBs sat at some point during their rookie year and watched for one reason or another.
I may be wrong about Tua. Herbert sat for a game. Lawerence never sat.
