CJ Stroud year 2

He held out for more money.
One minute you say they know what they're signing up for, the next minute, they're greedy. They should try to squeeze every penny out of a team they can get. Those same teams will tear your contract up and release you after the free agent money is gone and won't blink. It's the most brutal sport you can play also that has lasting effects in your body. I will never fault a player for getting his money no more than I will an owner making his billions.

If Stroud changes agents I will change my mind. Doubtful this happens. Nothing was learned. Like I've said before, I don't like the person or the player.

Like I said before I don't blame Bud for moving from a financial standpoint. He got a far better deal in Nashville than he ever would have gotten in Houston. I was actually glad to see him move, kinda like it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the McNair's moved the Texans.
Wow, pretty strong hate. So give him $100, meet him in the NRG parking lot where he can kick you in the ass then you can all call it even because the level of your one sided hate ain’t normal.

Is this really what it's coming too.

I say I don't like the player for real reasons like he doesn't win big games, handle pressure well etc... and I don't like his representation or his choice of people he looks up too and I get this post. SMH.

I'm entitled to my opinions same as you are yours. Yet you make a post like this one. You're getting far too emotional about this, it's like Derrick is back down on Kirby. Well he's gone but the guy who represents Derrick and Stroud is still on Kirby. Play with trash and expect to get stink on you.

He hasn't. Any games missed in his career were due to injury.

Apparently only DM clients ever ask for more money...
Not they only client or agent but you would think ownership would know going in if Strouds any good this is going to happen to them again. SMH

Why not avoid the trouble and stay away from DM clients unless there's a generational talent,? Stroud is far from a generational talent. But hey, Hannah got her new marketing toy.

I get this, although some players, few and far between care more about winning championships than money. See: Mahomes contract.

I did. He never missed a game or a TC. He did have a 'hold-in' in 2022, but so did Deebo Samuel and DK Metcalf. James never missed a game except thru injury. Only Watson held out a full season and Ramsey pulled his injured-not injured crap to force a trade out of Jacksonville. Can't really put all the blame on DM for either of those
James held out in TC. I really don't care what other players are doing. There will be more and Derrick didn't holdout a whole season. The McNair's didn't want him on their team. Rightfully so.

James did not miss a day of TC last year and Watson didn't play a game in 2021. Spin that as you will. But you should really check your facts before posting your opinions as though they were facts.

I didn't say he held out last year.

Andre Johnson was a holdout and missed all of OTA's and mandatory mini camp in 2014, he was there for training camp. James was there for training camp. Many players not represented by DM have held out for various lengths of time including full season

Just because AJ did it doesn't make it right. Great player, good guy apparently, Dumb for letting his uncle negotiate his contract.

Hopefully you enjoy the DM/Derrick NFL.

They aren't going to get anymore of my money though. You're being sold a bill of goods.

What about their agent?

Still doesn't matter. Which doesn't mean I'll like them, it's just I won't care because I'll be watching the downtown parade on TV.

As far as agents go, the only one I can name is coincidently the only one I don't like. LOL

Stroud better produce if, that is, he wants an invitation to next year's gala.

I would rather he prove himself on the field before doing this kinda stuff. I guess when you hang around the people he hangs around this is to be expected. Style over Substance, this is what the McNair's signed up for. I wonder if he was witnessing the glory of Jesus to those celebs since he's such a big Christian? Wonder how long it will be until he gets baptized in the River Jordan?

He's 21 years of age and was invited by the billionaire owner of Fanatics to his personal 4th of July party to hobnob with the elites of the entertainment industry, including many current and former pro athletes. His agent probably told him it's a no-brainer to attend. He's building his brand and having fun. I say, good for him. But, as I also said, he better produce positive results or these types of invitations will be bittersweet memories.

Yep, his brand is what matters most.

From what I've been told, Stroud is the only rookie that attended the high profile party. Pick #1 Bryce Young was nowhere to be found.

Multiple NFL figures attend Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin’s July 4 party

Ever year, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin hosts an exclusive July 4 party at his $50 million house in the Hamptons. This year, the party comes as he’s trying to grow the company into a major sports book operation — and as unprecedented attention is being paid to the NFL’s gambling policy.

Present at the event, based on the video Rubin posted on his Twitter page , were (to name a few) Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Ravens receiver Odell Beckham Jr., and Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud. Raiders receiver Davante Adams posted a photo of himself and Burrow on Instagram. Patriots owner Robert Kraft was there.

Given Rubin’s sports-betting aspirations, and in light of the rash of suspensions imposed recently by the league on players for violating the gambling policy, there’s at least a question to be asked about whether and to what extent accepting extravagant hospitality from the CEO of a sports book company crosses the line.

Section 5 of the NFL’s gambling policy seems to apply generally to situations like this. “NFL Personnel may not accept a complimentary room, service, or other gift from a Gambling Entity if its value exceeds Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250),” the policy states. “Any items accepted (other than de minimis food & beverages generally offered to all patrons) must be appropriately documented and verifiable upon request. Soliciting gifts of any value is never permissible.”

Nothing about that party appeared to be de minimis. It was big, it was exclusive, and it was lavish. And it was paid for by the CEO of a sports book company.

One argument could be that it wasn’t a Fanatics event, that it was Rubin’s private affair. That could be a distinction without a difference. Fanatics is Rubin, and Rubin is Fanatics. Also, if Fanatics footed the bill (and I’d be surprised if it didn’t), that argument collapses.

These are important distinctions that players will need to keep in mind, if they even know where the line resides. At what point does accepting an invitation from the CEO of a sports book become a violation of the gambling policy? And how thoroughly and completely is the league explaining to players and other NFL personnel what they can and can’t accept?

With so much about the gambling policy unclear and untested, it’s important for everyone to know where the potential traps are lurking. Just ask the guys who have been suspended for legally and properly betting on other sports in the wrong place.

I can’t believe the Texans would draft someone who hangs around these kinds of people.

Yes, it's deeply disturbing. Stroud should have been at the Texans' practice facility throwing balls to himself on the 4th of July instead of attending that party!

He should've already signed his contract and been spending time with his family. I guess you cant see the hypocrisy of claiming family and Christ is everything to him and then spending time with a bunch of Hollywood elites/rappers. I think we've seen this movie before down on Kirby.

How about we give him the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best?
