CJ Stroud year 2

Everyone is made out to be a ProBowler in the offseason! But no one's written any articles about my extreme level of preparation during the offseason. :shades:

Adam Thielen: Bryce Young’s level of preparation surprised people
Posted by Josh Alper on June 21, 2023, 8:26 AM EDT

DJ Chark isn’t the only Panthers wide receiver singing rookie quarterback Bryce Young‘s praises in the wake of the team’s offseason program.

Adam Thielen made an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday and was asked about his impressions of the first overall pick in this year’s draft. Thielen cautioned that one can only learn so much about a player during unpadded spring practices, but said that Young’s high level of preparation in his first days as a professional player caught his teammates off guard.

“You know, first overall pick, with all the hype and all that, you know there’s gonna be a lot of potential and you know he’s gonna have a lot of talent. But I think he just kinda surprised a lot of guys of how prepared he was for the NFL game,”

Thielen said. “I think sometimes it’s hard in those moments — because you’re in shorts and t-shirt, right? So you don’t wanna too excited about — whether that’s your team or individually — you don’t wanna get too excited in the summer because it’s a different game when you put pads on. But, at the same time, the way he moves in the pocket, the way that he adjusts and can get the ball out on time and accurate and he can make adjustments and things like that. It’s impressive. It gets you excited to get back working together.”

Thielen concedes that “you never know what’s gonna happen” once things progress to fully padded practices and games later this year, but it’s clear that Young has done nothing to temper expectations since entering the league.

I know it is the time of the year & people are scrambling to find something to talk about but this is utter nonsense from Cowherd & Gallant both. The whole premise that a tough childhood makes you somehow a better QB is ridiculous.

How tough do you think Peyton Manning had it growing up?

I have a lot of respect for people who overcome adversity in their lives. But to somehow quantify who had it tougher & is therefor a better QB because of it is completely asinine.

I guess along with a S2 score we need to develop a SC (sh*tty childhood) rating when drafting a QB.

Or Mahomes/Burrow/Allen/Herbert etc...

He puts an unusually good arc on the ball literally dropping it into buckets. I'm not sure what the term he coined was : "ball placement specialist?"

I see it.

He needs a good ol to maintain that accuracy though. He seems to throw deep with ease but I never see zip on his passes. His wr's probably like that. Ive tossed with hs and college qb's. Some guys throw balls that float into your palm. Some throw lead weight.

I'm curious about his arm and want to see more.

hero

S2 warriors!

but but but......he skipped out on the Manning Passing Academy because bad character...and and and money hungry. Hangs out with a bad crowd.
This doesn't change a thing.

You do realize a Sexual Predator had these camps?

We'll see how things turn out after yr 3.

No, you got it all wrong. Stroud may end up as a first ballot HoF guy, but it will be in spite of his intelligence, his parents, his having elite college WRs, his friends, his character, his business associates and most importantly his agent.
Don't forget, also in spite of two women running the franchise (an 80+ y/o and a gold digger tandem) as I have seen mentioned here.

Good luck with that, tell me how many guys with Strouds background have reached the heights you're referring too?

I guess he could always become the first, but I don't like betting on outliers. Best we can hope for is Moon without the choking in playoff games and the wife beating. SMH

Quoted for truth

When is the last time you've seen a duo like this be successful in the NFL. Georgia Fronteirre maybe. But that's because Warner was a fa find and they let their best pass rusher Little play after he DWI killed a lady.

Do you see Janice, Hannah being this kind of owner even if they found their Warner? I can't see this happening and teams like the Chiefs, 49ers play the game this way. You can't compete without taking on a few bad apples. This unfortunately is today's NFL.

OK, I'll bite. What is in his background that would make him the first to ever overcome it and become a HoFer? Be specific.

I thought the Texans took on a bad apple in Stroud? Doesn't he hang out with the wrong people and have character issues?

That was actually year 4. I'm trying to see about this year 3 of Stroud thats like the Y2K virus

Was just going off of you asking what happened after year 3. It was a bit tongue in cheek that while the Texans had a bad year, Watson had his best year ever as a pro. I think Steel means to say what happened after year 4, which was when all the drama started, both personally and professionally.

But if I think about it for a bit, he probably means year 3 because during year 4 was when all the massaging happened. Even though none of us had a hint that was happening until it hit the fan in the offseason. He's just backdating the knowledge for his own benefit. Watson's on-field performance did not suffer from his extra-curricular activities.

Moon was actually the 1sr QB to come from a rough background. I'm not talking about just being poor. After yr 3 of the contract you will see what's most important to Stroud and that's if he's as good as we all hope he is. This is a lose, lose situation if you're talking about winning championships.

Moon? Interesting as I thought Bud left after not getting new stadium.
The taxpayers weren't willing to pay for Bud's new playpen after Buffalo and Kansas City choke jobs. From a financial standpoint I really can't blame Bud for leaving.

Based on which facts?

Stroud hasn't even played a Pre-Season or regular season game and you're already proclaiming the wheels falling off after YR3. That's one heck of a Nostradamus effort. Any thoughts as to how you might feel if Stroud decides to go with another agent before he reaches or in YR4?

As for Bud Adams, he screwed the pooch by not building his Oilers a standalone football stadium when the getting was good. Instead, he jumped into the money pit better known as the Astrodome. If my memory serves me....the Astrodome still has a balance that somehow was never paid off.

If Stroud changes agents I will change my mind. Doubtful this happens. Nothing was learned. Like I've said before, I don't like the person or the player.

Like I said before I don't blame Bud for moving from a financial standpoint. He got a far better deal in Nashville than he ever would have gotten in Houston. I was actually glad to see him move, kinda like it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the McNair's moved the Texans.

They aren't sexual predators.

However they only care about getting paid and break their contracts early, demand trades, they certainly aren't about team or winning championships. The only way you should sign one of his guys is if they are truly special talents like Parsons or if you're one player short of what you need to win a championship, like the Rams were with Ramsey.

The Texans with Stroud are none of these things. IMHO, but hey, Hannah got the guy she could market.

Derwin James

And I'm sure guys like Parsons will be next on line. Bottom line is DM's clients care more about getting paid than winning championships. Not that I blame them given DM's clients backgrounds.

Which of them besides Watson and Ramsey have done this? That behavior speaks more of the player than the agent imo

Isn’t Buddah Baker holding out for a trade too?

Derwin James demanded a trade? What year was this? Even though he's been a pro bowl player ever year he's played a full season? Even though he signed a contract extension in the final year of his first round first contract?
