Welcome to Houston CJ Stroud

That's his first name

Nobody calls my Dad by his first name. He has used his middle name his whole life, but when someone uses his first name it’s not an insult. It’s just that he prefers his middle name. I’m not sure I follow the point. Does he call Juice Scruggs and Tank Dell by their given first name as well? Are people not allowed to use a middle name or a nickname?

I don't know why he does it, but I think Lucky hit on it

I guess I'm still a little lost. Oil and Houston are connected sure but still doesn't make much sense.

Unless...nah couldn't be that...could it?
c'mon man! You're smarter than that

You forgot the part where none of those guys play D. Your also forgetting how little Fuller played. And who else was on that line? Who were the RB’s? He had some talent, but this was not a loaded offense by any stretch, and the D was epically bad especially his last year here. He would go down and take the lead and the D would promptly give it up. I’m sure that’s somehow Watson’s fault.

Watson had faults but was the best QB this team had ever seen until it all came undone very quickly. Fair criticism is warranted, but some of you folks just like to pile on because you don’t like him. At least admit your critical because you don’t like him.
Wasn't Watt, JoJo, Cushing, KJax etc... on those defenses?

Miller Wasn't a bad RB. He was a threat anytime the ball was in his hands and no it wasn't all Derricks fault, but he wasn't and never will be a top 5 QB like some on this MB think he was.

Derrick had Hopkins, Fuller, Miller and an ol that had Tunsil, Howard on it. He had talent around d him.

If Stroud isn't the starter then there are issues. You don't draft a guy 1-2 and not plY him. The fans want to to see Stroud and at so.e point, probably game 1, ownership will mandate Strroud over Mills regardless if Mills outplays Stroud or not. See: Eli over Warner.

Steel you’re better than this. The Chiefs traded up to get Mahomes and had him sit for a year. I’d say that worked out pretty well for both Mahomes and the Chiefs. In a perfect world (at least for me) Mills starts play well enough to draw interest from other teams and we trade him. I hope Stroud learns the new offense, adjusts to the speed and differences in the NFL game and becomes a good starting QB for us for along time

This totally depends on how you feel about Stroud. I dont like the person or the player and think he's dumb as a box of rocks, so the quicker he plays the quicker you can move on from him. Picking Stroud makes me look at the Texans org like a future trainwreck after yr 3, rather than truly building for the future. Cal's an idiot if winning championships meant anything to him. It doesn't, he's chasing the money, nothing more or less.

I would be willing to bet he has more football IQ than you ever will

He should, he's getting paid millions.

The question isn't my football iq VS his, the question is his football iq VS Mahomes,Burrow, Hurts, Allen etc...
I'd bet it's just as high as theirs was as a pre-rookie

The S-2 says that even if you're right, he's not great under pressure, thinking on his feet, it shows up in his tape. Not so much in the guys I listed tape.

I like the H‑E‑B brand as well.
Scott McClelland disrespected me one day. The HEB on 242 had just opened. I used to live close to there. I walked into the store and he and some of the Texans cheerleaders were there just inside the entrance. I walked over to the cheerleaders and he rudely shoed me away. I think they were doing a commercial.

I'm happy to have enriched your life with that story. Carry on.

Hillshire Farms suck. Holmes Smokehouse is the way to go. The Pork & Venison and the Garlic ones are particularly tasty. You don't need no stinking sauce
I like the venison but recently switch to Heartbrand. Like the Holmes a tad less fat.

Spelling edit.

Forget measuring by football IQ. Can Stroud spell Wonderlic? That should be the new benchmark.

Was there found any correlation between Wonderlic scores and on-field results? I haven't seen any.

In addition to success on the field for Houston, I hope and pray that CJ will stay away from political and "social justice" crusades. I want to root for and support him and the Texans. I hope he doesn't ruin that for me.

This is the play against Georgia where Marvin Harrision Jr. got concussed but the reason I'm showing it is because it's actually a great throw by CJ under immense pressure.

Can you string a few of those together to give us a semblance of consistency?

Well, here's every CJ pass play as well as his rushes against Georgia. He was sacked a few times and did have a couple of passes that COULD have been intercepted. On the other hand, he eluded pressure, kept his eyes downfield, and burned Georgia more than a couple of times. On one completion Chris Fowler (play-by-play) said that Stroud's pass was "underthrown" but it was thrown that way by Stroud to ensure that only the receiver could come back and get it.

So you got 1 game.

So you got 1 game.

Well, it was his last game as a Buckeye and against the undefeated, defending, national champions. I could throw in his highlights from earlier last season against Toledo but my guess is that wouldn't carry a lot of weight.

I will add that I didn't begin posting on this forum until AFTER the Houston Texans drafted him. I think he's the best QB in Ohio State history but, then again, Ryan Leaf was the best QB ever at Washington State and we know how that turned out. I wish I was Nostradamus and could definitively tell you if CJ will be worthy of the #2 overall pick.

Anyway, here are Stroud's plays against Michigan, and he did not play as well but we Buckeye fans believe the offensive scheme was, at times, very poor in that game. Needless to say, OSU got their butts kicked and the offense only managed THREE points in the second half.

On a bit of a side note it's being reported that Bryce Youngsters passes are being knocked down at the LOS. I know its just OTAs and they really aren't playing, but I thought it was interesting for all those folks that like midgets or who like to point out that they are short.

I'm hoping he'll be the best QB in Houston Texans History, but the bar is pretty low. I've got nothing against him.

But everyone says he's not very good under pressure.

I hope he works at it

I don't like that throw. That appeared to be a jump ball, or he was trying to throw the ball out of the endzone and didn't get enough air behind it due to being off-balance. Four defenders back there. Ill-advised pass, IMHO.

Lol, I haven't seen sausage links discussed this much in a player thread since Vince Wilfork played here.
I seldom look at the thread topic in this reply to post. I have had my hand spanked for that. Probably should refresh my thread on bacon.

Anywho, I made my friday trip to krogers [fuel points coupon x 4] and no pork and Venison Holmes sausage. Got the Heartbrand.

Friends and I having cookout Sunday. I have rack of ribs tenderizing.
