The ever so fun...Cuss and Discussing the AFC South Draft Grades

Found this article and found it interesting. Let's see what you think about it. Agree or disagree? And so let the fun start.

I don't like what the Colts did - it looks good.

Must say, love the Colts draft. I think Richardson is a risk that going to work out for them and make it tough for the Texans for the next decade or so. We shall see. Brents, Downs and Freeland were excellent picks as well. My fear is that the Colts got the better QB in the intermediate to long term. Hope to be wrong.

What makes you think the colts selected the better qb? Maybe I’m missing something here. Stats and tape doesn’t lie. 17 tds 9 picks with 7 rushing touchdowns is decent. I feel more comfortable having the pocket passer with a sniper arm and rarely makes mistakes. Also the guy who played good-great all season and should of beat a nfl defense in Georgia but Ohio state kicker ruined a great moment. Maybe Ar will be a great player but I don’t trust him over Cj. Nothing jumps out to me about him

Did you see his broad jump? Clearly HOF material.

I thought Houston and Indy had quality drafts. Comes down to coaching and health now.

Tennessee to me had the worst. They needed a lot more picks and got a limited amount of impact players. Skoronski will be a solid starter, Spears will be good when healthy. But you have to develop Levis and he still needs weapons beyond Derrick Henry. Jury still out on Treylon Burks.

Jags drafted a bunch of guys and i’m just going to have to depend on Trent Baalke’s poor track record that there are more misses than hits in that class.

Don't get me wrong, Stroud was who I wanted. However, IF Richardson can put together his tools with solid coaching he has the ability to be the best QB from the 2023 draft class. Just his size, strength, arm, speed, ball velocity and other freak ability is crazy. Also, it was mentioned in a few articles that he could play TE if he really struggled at QB. Not sure how true that rumor is, but he has the right size and speed for the position. Only question is can he pick up route running and sure handed catching? That is IF he switched to TE

I think you guys had a great draft.

Love what Packers did too, added bookend TE’s & two WR’s infusing total of 13 rookies, surrounding Jordan Love with tools to succeed post Aaron Rodgers.

If people have time & interest to look around and see how other teams build & invest in their futures, besides your own (Texans) you come away with a far more accurate, realistic expectations coming into next season.

This was a really solid, deep draft, full of quality football players, where & how they fit will be an interesting puzzle to put together come August/September. No winners now, just projections and anticipation.

Richardson is a tremendous athlete with blazing speed, but you know you could say the same thing about Usain Bolt.

What I have found missing from Richardson’s accolades is commentary about his accuracy. Great athlete. Talented and gifted there. But throwing the ball with touch and accuracy ehhh still working on it. To me that’s something you don’t want out of a QB picked at 4. Sounds like a project that may have high return but also has high probability of failure at a high cost.

I don't think Richardson will ever be a better than average passer but he could give teams fits with his running if he gets in the right system. Nobody is going to ask him to be a drop back pocket passer.

I know it's an unpopular opinion but Richardson was the only quarterback in this draft I was worrying about having to face twice a year. I haven't forgotten how bad the Texans run defense is and how historically the Texans have had difficulty with quarterbacks like Richardson.

Lamar Jackson & Cam Newton turned their divisions upside down, at least for a little while. Jalen Hurts is making noise now.

I think Richardson is closer to Cam & Lamar than Jalen.

But all that means is we’ll have to score points, lots of them, which should be our goal regardless

Indy would have picked Stroud in a heartbeat if he was available. AR was what they were left with.

All of these drafts were good draft in the AFC South.

Comes down to who the best QB out of this draft is. All 3 have the talent to become elite QB's. Stroud is the most limited athlete of the 3.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. It's difficult for some to do that and instead they have to result to immature passive/aggressive gestures.

Lamar, Cam and Hurts could actually all play QB as well.
Cam had a 66.1% completion percentage with a 30/7 TD/INT ratio.
Lamar, was a little less accurate, 57%, but still had an almost 3/1 TD/INT ratio.
Hurts, 65.1%, 80/20.
Richardson, 54.7%, 24/15.
53.8%, 17/9 last year.

Those other QBs also won football games. Hurts lost 4 games in 40 starts. Cam was 14-0. Even Jackson at a non-P5 was 23-12. Richardson? 3-8 in SEC games. How this guy is considered a top QB coming out of college is mind boggling. Just because he can run? AR might be a great athlete, but he's far from a great QB, or an average one for that matter. Texans have to face him twice a year? Bring it on. Levis too for that matter. Neither one of them worry me and I'm glad they're in the AFC South.

I hope Richardson is the Mike Mamula of QBs!

Wow….are the Colts going to seriously try and roll out the Bill Yeoman Veer Offense to take advantage of Richardson’s skill set?

I don’t know if they think he’s a top “QB” more like a weapon that touches the ball on every snap.

Those guys have been having more & more success as we move towards the future.

I don’t think the Colts are going to try to change him. They’re going to unleash him.

Ever since Josh Allen, raw guys are all the rage when it comes to QB. Years ago, they would have tried to make Richardson convert to WR or TE. Hell, lots of teams wanted to do that to Hurts.

Richardson was my 3rd favorite QB of the draft. I'm a certified Levis hater, so I think he will be a bust. Hooker on the Titans would have sacred me more.

Right. I had Hooker 3 behind Bryce and CJ.

And there's always an outlier that people try to make the norm. How many times has Brady in the 6th been brought up in the last 15 years?

Like I said, most of those guys have a history of winning football games as well. Richardson not so much.

And play great defense. Which is the least I expect from a Demeco coached team.
