2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

That's a whole lot under the guise of not really being concerned all that much with being right, ok.

Pretty sure you used the marriage reference for a reason, but ok also.

How do you know all of the other 48 were completely kosher with their deal as it went on? I know I don't. You do? Well I doubt it, but I don't doubt that at least some were, because well, that's par for the course in pro sports. Particularly pro sports with non-guaranteed contracts. But my point was that of those entire 48 that you insist were on cloud 9 with their deals throughout - though again I and most anyone else find that hard to believe - none of them had their mustache twirling agent force a trade to another team. Not a single other one.

So sure 2 out of 2 is 2. You got me there. And 2 out of 2 hits is batting 1.000. But considering there were another 48 opportunities to record a hit - even though you contend that not a single one even looked at a pitch - I think it's worth noting in the equation regarding the Mulugheta get out of town batting average.

But please, tell me that reading is hard for me, or that I'm putting words in your mouth (your words, btw), or that my head is in the sand, or that I'm spinning something.. again, a whole lot for someone so nonchalant about being right..

Also, if you already know what I'm going to say just go ahead and take a minute and read it first so maybe we can move on.. maybe?

Seriously? I told you don’t waste your time responding and here you with a post (TLDR). I saw @JB ‘s post quoting your post asking to move on…which why I said don’t respond. But you want to appear that you said it. Ok.

This reminds me of icak. Can’t be wrong. Argue the around the issue so you can be right. Have to have last word. Following around posters and harassing them to the point they leave. See @steelbtexan.

I hope you work on your mental health. The issues I see aren’t heathy. I am not a mental health expert but maybe you need a hug, have someone tell you that you matter, or a friend. I can’t help you with any of that. Good luck.

It's a chill debate. No biggie.

Just have a gut feeling for the over...The previous two drafts suggest under, but I going to say that Demeco and current low roster numbers influence.
Agree on the over. Obviously he will cobble some of those lower picks together to move up but here is a good chance NC trades out of one of the higher picks for more picks.

After a conversation with Bears GM Ryan Poles theother night, it sounds like the trade was almost THE TRADE. Poles told me he had significant discussion with Houston at number two that could have made him trade down twice in the top 10—with both the Texans and Panthers. He wouldn’t be specific on what broke down, but he did say: “I thought there was anopportunity to do something historically pretty cool with a trade from one to two and two to nine. That had potential to add more draft capital this year, and then the possibility that you’re sitting on three ones in the following year. That had my attention. But my gut told me to trigger on it now. At the combine, I thought those quarterbacks did an outstanding job in their interview process. A lot of teams felt really good about some of those guys, but as you get further away from the combine, maybe there’s a bad pro day or something that turns teams off.”

Bear GM Ryan Poles on discussed move from 1.1 to 1.2:

I'm not buying that a 2024 1st from the Texans was ever on the table. Poles would have grabbed that deal in a heartbeat. The guy likes to brag, but he came away with only the 5th most draft capital in this draft. Accomplish something before beating your chest, big guy.

Total picks 12.

O/U on total players drafted by Texans 9.5. I’ll take the under.
With a bunch of rookie impatient coaches, Caserio will trade up a minimum of 2 times using 5 draft picks to do so. I'll take the under. With 12 picks I look for Texans to draft 7 players.

Love your choices although Kincaid is most likely gone. Maybe Mayer or Washington slip.
I agree on Kincaid. I have a feeling three TE's get taken in the first round - Mayer, Washington and Kincaid. Next would be Musgrave but I feel like #33 is too high for him due to the injury and lack of experience. I really hope the Texans steer clear of players coming off of injuries to the knee.

I'm going to say the Texans are involved in four draft day trades and come away with ten players. Someone already mentioned this but felt it worth mentioning again - new coaches are going to want new players that they can call their own.

Texans Trade for Ravens QB Lamar Jackson? ESPN's Dan Orlovsky Says Yes
The Ravens and Lamar Jackson remain in a fluid situation, but Dan Orlovsky believes the Houston Texans could be a realistic option for the All-Pro quarterback.
I can see Ryan's pumping for him - he does what the 49ers picked Trey Lance for except LJ is a proven commodity.
Does anyone have an idea how Texans could fit a contract of his forecast into their cap?

From the article:

"Houston has the picks. They have a team that will not be a late first-round pick next year. They have the salary cap space.
The Texans do not have the cap space to squeeze in a $50 million/year, $250 million guaranteed contract. So, not realistic, Dan.

I want nothing to do with LJ. Don't like the person, don't like the play style and the way he causes injury concerns. Passing?? He's better but still not a polished passer and probably never will be.

He's a finished version of AR.

And for the money? Absolutely zero interest.
Obviously why no-one has taken him so far.
He's gonna have to come down off his high horse if he wants out of Baltimore.

Funny how you can be so hard against a guy we know can play but can’t understand why someone would not want to draft Erkel with the #2 overall pick.

And I'll place odds that Bryce misses no more games than LJ does over his career. Might even play longer. You guys all caught up with your size. I mean don't you know it's not your size, it's how you use it? Demonstrated facts - Bryce knows how to use his size. LJ does not, and is therefore the next Cam Newton. A QB who wants to be a LB isn't for me.

I already stated my case. I don't like HIM. Don't care for his personality. He comes across dumber than a box of rocks. I Don't like his game. Don't like run first guys with poor accuracy. Don't like guys that force contact. I don't like him sam I am. I would not like him in a tree, I would not like him with a bee...don't you see?

Can he play? Sure, but I don't like the way he does. He is among my least favorite players in the NFL. He's also a greedy pig on top of it that is brain-dead and doesn't understand he is overvaluing himself.

Texas sending 3 vs Carolina sending 11 to Ohio would probably indicate Stroud is going #1. 🤣
I just heard a former player who is now a beat writer for the Panthers saying, “ a lot of their brass are highly in favor of Richardson. They played the clip on 610. He also said he would be very disappointed if they don’t draft either Stroud or even Young.

Go ahead and take Richardson. That gives us exactly the same choices as if we had lost the Colts game. So, the win there would be of no real consequences. Just like at 1.1, the Texans get their choice of Stroud or Young.

Personally, I think it's subterfuge. Richardson is too big of a risk at 1.1. While I'd welcome it if it happens...I still say they go Stroud. I'm sticking to that prediction unless there's a lot more fire with this smoke.

Panthers message board has an interesting poll. Who is the better QB prospect. 30.86% said Young, 34.38% said Stroud and 34.77% said both are equally good. I think I'd put myself in the later camp. If Young was only two inches taller and 15 pounds heavier I think I would go with Young. Grow, dangit!

What?

What former player is now a beat writer for the Panthers?
