Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

DA/GJ in a high profile case might have felt like it wasn't worth the money it would cost and it would be hard to get a conviction with the lack of physical evidence.

He is a still a special kind of stupid.

Buzbee says, in his opinion, Watson has been the “victim of incredibly bad advice” from his attorneys.

“The dumbest advice they ever gave was convincing Deshaun Watson against his interests to fight this,” he said. “The longer this goes on, the more information I’m gonna collect because I do not stop. I’m a [former] Special Forces Marine. I don’t stop. Being criticized by people here and there is not gonna slow me down and by the time we finally try this first case, whenever that’s gonna be, the mountain of evidence is gonna be so overwhelming.”

When asked whether he has been contacted again to settle, Buzbee said only a mediator has reached out and not Watson’s direct team.

“If you have an offer, make it,” said Buzbee. “But if you want to have a conversation, go talk to the wall…I am not interested in having a conversation with you fools.”

Buzbee, clearly fuming over the accusations leveled against him by Watson’s legal team on HBO’s Real Sports said he was verbally attacked by them and claims Hardin and team “couldn’t carry [his] brief case.”

What does that really mean?

They can "believe" all they want. If they don’t have evidence, they don't have evidence
The police investigators involved in this investigation are not your regular beat cops. The are specially trained to handle potential sexual assault cases. They know the law and how each complainant must be handled. They have a very accurate idea of how things should end up once in the prosecutor's hands............as long as the prosector's hands are not already occupied with emerald colored paper.

Be that as it may...

Whereas, Buzbee states in Harris County the police told him they believed Watson did commit sexual crimes.

This is being stated as if this means anything. It doesn't.

Now if he said the police told Buzbee they thought he had enough evidence, that might be a good argument that shenanigans are going on

But the police believing one thing or another isn't admissible in any court of law

Convinced, you don’t get there without the evidence. 81921693-6BA2-467B-B70F-4B6E52F1BDE6.jpeg

I'm expecting to hear any day now that Hardin moves to change venue from Harris County to the Bahamas....... :chef:

One ✔off the ol' bucket list. 😁

I didn't realize he was 80 until I read a article y'all posted.

Roger Clemens got the last squeeze out of Hardin.. At this point it'd be better if they just used the "I misremembered" defense. Ironically both cases involve two famous sports athletes getting stuck in the ass.. and that's where all similarities end. 😆

By exposing Brian McNamee, Clemens' one time trainer and his chief accuser, as a cheat and liar in other areas of his life, Hardin effectively shut the door on the prosecution's case that Clemens didn't speak the truth to the United States Congress, and others, by maintaining that he never used performance-enhancing drugs.

It was the tried and true "How can we be sure McNamee's not lying now?" game plan. And it worked like a charm. The guy on trial for lying got off because the guy who helped him cheat and then pointed the finger at him for cheating was not a saint. Hardin essentially used offense (in this case someone else's) as Clemens best defense. Hardin turned "guilty" on its head.

It isn't going to work with Watson.

Have spoken to 2 long term licensed massage therapists who deal with celebrities and professional athletes. Both of them told me that a number of those clients do have them sign an NDA. But those NDAs are worded to not discuss their working relationship with the particular client and not to repeat anything that they would not otherwise be cognizant of outside of the sessions. They both emphasized that it in no way covers anything to do with sexual activity criminal or otherwise during massage sessions.

Admittedly for selfish reasons (for Deshaun trade purposes)- I wanted Buzbee to shut up while Deshaun was still technically a Texan. Now that Deshaun is gone- I hope that Deshaun pays to the fullest extent and I’m rooting for Buzbee to completely roast Deshaun in trial.

Caserio could quite possibly end up on the right side of one of the most lopsided trades of all time. The Browns made a grave mistake by putting all their eggs in the Dirty Deshaun basket. The Browns’ trash, now becomes the Texans treasure.

Now I'm wondering if the Texans will somehow be punished for any alleged involvement they may have had in helping Watson when this was allegedly going on.

I've worked with several massage therapists over the years and in a way, it's almost like a psychology therapy session sometimes. It's easy to talk about stuff. I've discussed all kinds of internal politics with them. If any of that stuff had been important, an NDA would have been nice to have. No one sane cares about the politics of computer programmers, though.

My wife's company, OTOH, probably would have asked her to get a signed NDA from the therapist if they really thought about it.

Well, maybe now people will stop complaining about posting in this thread.

IN FACT, MODS, IT'S PROBABLY TIME TO MOVE THIS THREAD BACK TO THE TEXANSTALK SECTION.
If you'd like to start a thread about the Texans involvement I wouldn't have a problem with it.

But anything not specifically about the Texans involvement would get deleted.

I think this is what Buzbee has been angling for the whole time. He couldn't care less what his clients get awarded vs Watson.

But the settlement from the NFL.... yowza

He'd have to prove that the Texans/NFL knew about the weird sh!t Watson was doing in his massage sessions. I seriously doubt anyone knew besides DW himself and the women + whoever they told. But bringing NFL/Texans into the lawsuit will probably attract additional potential victims willing to file.

It's pretty clear his case is about public perception.

& the NFL's aversion to bad publicity

Yes, NFL/Texans would be much more willing to settle to make it go away.
So does this mean Goodell tells Daniel Calhoun he needs to come up with $25 million to make this go away and Goodell will do his part by suspending Watson for 2 years for egregiously violating the personal conduct policy and for conduct unbecoming of NFL player? Or does Goodell go Michael Vick and suspend Watson from the NFL indefinitely and allow Watson to petition the NFL for reinstatement in 2 years?

As I understand, Goodell doesn't dish out the punishment anymore, it's an independent arbitrator. So, I have no idea how this is going to go.

And then the NFL comes after our draft picks...Ugh!

The independent arbitrator decides if he's done anything wrong and obviously he's done plenty wrong. After she decides he's done wrong, then it's up to God'ell to determine the necessary punishment.
