Complaining because it's hard or different is completely different than saying there is a systematic problem within the organization.
Also, Johnson can be correct about Easterby and it has nothing to do with how he feels about Watson. When you consider Easterby was involved with contract negotiations, the draft, the point man on Watson's contract negotiations and the interim GM. Looking at Andre's viewpoint, what did he say that was incorrect or deserved criticism? Who disagrees with his comments?
The same question could be asked about Derrick, what good has happened to this franchise since he joined it?

I'm agnostic. I have no idea if he really has any influence or not, if he does how much it might be, or whether said influence is positive or negative.

My take is just him being in the building is too much influence. And, the three interviews of an unqualified backup QB for the head coach vacancy tells me that he most likely still has too much influence. IMO, of course.
I don't want to ruffle any feathers around here by being critical of this wonderful human being, so I'll just leave it at that and I'm glad Lovie seems like the kind of head coach that won't be putting too much stock in what this dude has to say about running a football team.

I don’t know how much influence he has now. All I know is the influence he’s already had in helping bring this franchise down to the depths it’s currently in, and for some reason he’s still in the building.
The Josh McCown stuff is just strange. To have this guy being interviewed 3 times for the HC position ... if that’s not the Pastor’s influence then it means somebody else in that building had that idea, and that’s just as bad. And if not for Flores throwing a wrench into the mix, could have been really bad.
I’m a little encouraged that McCown didn’t even make the staff. That either means the Pastor’s influence is fading, or McCown is just a douche that won’t accept any job that isn’t HC despite having zero coaching experience, and doesn’t appear to be willing to get any.

Exactly what did Easterby do to bring this franchise down?
First, are you agreeing that the franchise is down?
Jack Easterby was hired by the Texans in April 2019 as executive vice president of team development. The only executive vice president of team development in the NFL, at the time. In January 2020, Easterby was promoted to executive vice president of football operations. Presumably because he did such a great job developing the team. In October 2020, Easterby was given the interim GM title after Bill O'Brien's departure.
At any time during Easterby's tenure, have the Texans trended upward as an organization? He's listed as 2nd on the Football Operations org chart on HoustonTexans.com. So it seems pretty clear that Easterby has had some influence in the past 3 years. How much? Well, his good friend became GM of the team last year. Many front office and support personnel have been replaced under his watch. From his bio on the team website, "Easterby manages all football operations and directs the overall culture of the organization."
Let's just stop pretending that Easterby is some hanger on lackey. He may not be all that is wrong with this organization. But he's a part of it.

I don't think you can make that assertion. In the Texans 20+ years of existence, at no point have they ever "trended upward" & actually undergone a concerted effort to build or rebuild up to something like they are about to undergo now. Our "success" was mostly a guy getting lucky after spinning his wheels in mediocrity the 5 years prior & another guy who just kept putting bandaid after bandaid to patch up leaks that started to spring from that same 2011 core of a team.....................which truthfully was flawed in how it was put together FROM DAY 1. So i think its safe to assume there are & have been other things wrong within this organization. So to lay most of the blame for this team's inepptitude at a specific time point in time when he just happened to arrive is flawed logic in an of itself. Very rarely have the Texans operated as we the fans thought they should.
What we don't know................ & likely never will, is whether or not Easterby has been or is the actual problem or..............if he was just an instrument used to expose the crap that likely was going on in the FO before he even arrived. What we do know is what he actually did when he had the GM title all to himself........ If there was ever a time for him to "flex" his power, that would've been it......instead, he did NOTHING.
They've been down ever since Derrick's contract was signed. Now they're in the beginning stages of a rebuild.
BTW, this is on the McNair's , not Derrick.
Let's not forget Easterby negotiated the Watson contract. This was before Easterby was exposed for lying about having experience in Jacksonville's salary cap manangement.
Another reason Easterby needs to exit stage left down on Kirby.

He's scared to talk to professional reporters, but most weasels are so no surprise. He's probably feeling like he's losing his grip with Lovie in the building, so this is him fronting to try to justify his existence in the organization.
As far as I'm concerned Easterby started out looking like a clown. He was the one who went to the Patriots ring ceremony & got filmed talking to Caserio. For a man with all the football experience he claims he didn't even have enough sense to talk to Caserio out of the public eye,

So maybe it was all O'Brien who made the trades & signed the ridiculous contracts but it was Easterby's mishandling of the whole Caserio affair that put Billy O in a position to make all the jackass moves. Without Easterby Gaine probably doesn't get fired & who knows how that would have played out.

Some have suggested it was a ploy by Easterby to get one step closer to the GM position. Now, does that seem like something Jack would do?

The Texans were close to losing draft picks because of tampering charges that resulted from that conversation. btw, it was not in public, it was at Robert Kraft's home. The Patriots dropped the case when the Texans decided to no longer pursue Caserio, but it was reported that it was a solid case against Easterby/Texans.

Caserio said this, he forgot to add that he may be over football opps, but he's not allowed to pick his HC or run things on gameday the way he learned to do things in Foxboro.
I'm glad Jack spent 2 yrs in his cave. Less chance of him screwing up again. Now that he's come out of the cave there should be no doubt what his responsibilities are. He forgot to add spiritual advisor to Janice/Calhoun to his responsibilities to this list.
