This won't be good as EAst-West shrine Bowl in term of the quality of posts made, but it is the bigger more important game.

From great blue north

QBs on parade at Senior Bowl … Players are gathering in Mobile as we speak for the start of this week’s Senior Bowl activities which get underway tomorrow. The players will be measured and weighed tomorrow, followed by the first practice sessions for both teams, although the first day of practice is usually in shells. There will be two days of full-pad practices on Wednesday and Thursday followed by a walk-through on Friday with the actual game set for Saturday afternoon. And no players will be under more scrutiny from the NFL at this week’s Senior Bowl than the QBs. If nothing else, its a chance for one or more to prove that they deserve a top 10 grade. In fact, other than Matt Corral of Mississippi the top prospects at the position will all be in Mobile this week including Kenny Pickett of Pittsburgh, Liberty’s Malik Willis, Desmond Ridder of Cincinnati, Carson Strong of Nevada, and Sam Howell of North Carolina, along with Bailey Zappe of Western Kentucky, who was actually the leading passer in the FBS ranks this past season.

and because it is not ALL about the QBs

There will also be a strong DE presence in Mobile this week including Jermaine Johnson of Florida State, South Carolina’s JJ Enagbare, Myjai Sanders of Cincinnati, Cam Thomas of San Diego State, Penn State’s Arnold Ebiketie and Logan Hall of Houston. However, the DEs are going to have to work for whatever they get in Mobile as there will also be a strong contingent of offensive linemen at this year’s Senior Bowl including OTs Bernard Rainman of Central Michigan, Northern Iowa’s Trevor Penning, Abraham Lucas of Washington, and massive Daniel Faalele of Minnesota, along with OGs Darrian Kinnard of Kentucky, Cade Mays of Tennessee and Zion Johnson of Boston College. Meanwhile, other top prospects to keep an eye on include Alabama RB Brian Robinson, Penn State WR Jahan Dotson, TEs Trey McBride of Colorado State and Coastal Carolina’s Isaiah Likely, Oklahoma DT Perrion Winfrey and CBs Roger McCreary of Auburn and Derion Kendrick of Georgia. Here are the full rosters for the Senior Bowl.

blue norths QB profile of the top 6 dudes

Sure he’s tied up with Jack and Cal interviewing coaching candidates. Which does beg the question, surely Texas Scouting Department is on hand? Heard most staffs arrive Monday and leave by Thursday.

He's probably at the Sr. Bowl.

That's where most guys looking for a job hang out.

Weights and Measurements

Sometimes we make too much of these measurements. But if no team cared, they wouldn't measure.

Abram Smith, Baylor RB has very small hands - 7-5/8"
Dylan Parham, C/OG Memphis showed up 28 lbs heavier than listed - 313 lbs
Justin Shaffer, OG Georgia is a hair over 6 ft
Bernhard Raimann, OT Central Michigan has 33" arms
Darian Kinnard, Kentucky seems to have the length (6'5" with 34"+ arms) to stay at OT
Myjai Sanders, Cincinnati may need to add weight (242 lbs) to be a base 4-3 DE

Carson Strong, Nevada
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 226
Arm Length: 31 5/8”
Wingspan: 76 5/8”
Hand: 9 1/4”
Knee checks out healthy. So far, everyone is saying Strong has looked the best. He’s slinging.
Those measurable are right where you want them.

And Pickett wouldn’t let them measure his hand. That’s the knock on him.

Strong is the best QB in this draft. If he's there when the Steelers are picking he should be the pick. Reminds me alot of Big Ben.

Pickett is double jointed, that's why he didn't have his hand measured. He's supposedly going to a therapist to help fix this and will have his hand measured at the combine.

I still can't get with the QBs in this draft. I know Willis has flashed a plus arm and athleticism this week. But, he doesn't process quickly and holds the ball too long. He deserves to be drafted and coached up. But am I going to spend a 1st round pick on him over an O-lineman or pass rusher that can help immediately? I don't see a day 1 starter here, but I didn't see Davis Mill as a starter last preseason, either.

I'm hoping we can pull RB Damien Pierce and WR Calvin Austin III from this Senior Bowl roster.

How would you feel about a draft of

1-3 Neal
2-37 Salyer
3-68 Watson
3-80 Pierce
4-135 Austin

Fixes everything but the TE position

Give me

Neal
Salyer
Watson or Ross
Dulcich or Woods TE's
Austin

Rd.5 after using a couple of 6th's trading up for 1 of Chandler/Ingram/Corbin.

You've neglected the defense but you have given Mills the weapons ans protection he needs to succeed.

I'm good with the Pierce and Austin picks. As far as Neal goes, I really don't want him. If at all possible, I want to trade down and get Tyler Linderbaum. I really don't think Neal will fit the blocking scheme the Texans want to go with. I really think the Texans are planning on moving to a zone blocking scheme, so smaller, quicker OLine would be better. Cordell Volson would be a better fit at OT. However, I think we already have the OT's we need for the ZBS. To convert to a ZBS, we only need a couple pieces. If we try to go forward with a power blocking scheme, we would have to replace almost every OLineman we have.

Gotta disagree the talent on the OL sucks and badly needs to be upgraded. I love Linderbaum too. But I dont want guys coming off of injury or small school guys, other than Penning.

We dont know what type of scheme that's going to be used. But Neal can play in any scheme. He's really athletic, dont let his weight fool you. If Caserio is able to trade down I'm hoping he brings Kenyon Green home. He's a stud that's played everywhere along the OL and played well.

We need offensive linemen in the worst way. If we stay with gap, Green would be an excellent choice. If we go to zone, I believe Raimann would make a great LT, and Linderbaum at center .... I really believe Charlie Heck could become an excellent RT, (he plays like the energizer bunny) .... If so, that's three excellent guys to start with !

I want OL, RB’s, and a TE out of this draft. Give me any 3 of; Kenyon Green (A&M), Zion Johnson (BC), Darian Kinnard (KY), Jamaree Salyer (GA), or Andrew Stueber (MI). Zion is a true LG and Stueber is a true RT. The rest are versatile linemen who can play both Tackle and Guard.

As for RB’s…..I’m still really laser focused on Breece Hall (Iowa State) and Rachaad White (Arizona State) b/c both can do everything a 3 down back should be able to do at the NFL level. Getting both backs would give the offense a pair of young legs that could provide the Texans with an instant ground game. Throw Burkhead into the mix and it would be pretty exciting.

As for a TE….Tre McBride (Colorado State), Jelani Woods (Virginia), or Lucas Krull (Pitt) would be a major addition to the position. Add in the potential Brevin Jordan brings to the team and this could suddenly become a position of production b/c the OL additions should finally free up the TE’s to be an integral part of the offense.

Anybody watching the game (Senior Bowl)?

Just got home,

Who's looked good so far?

Raimann's play this week has disappointed me and I was high on him coming into the week. He needs to gain strength in his legs. He can become a very good LT because he's very athletic. But he's an NFL offseason with an NFL S&C guy before he will be ready to play NFL level.

1. Totally agree, I see Stuebner as a better player as an OG, where his athletic deficiencies wont be an issue.

2. I'm on the Pierce/White/Chandler/Ingram train. Give me Peirce in the 3rd and Ingram or Chandler in the 6th.

3. I'm on the Dulcich/Woods train in the 4th. and Calcatera in the 5th with a trade up or 6th.

I see Stueber moving inside to guard, but he’s be a solid addition.

Watson did a good job of getting over to block for Ferguson on that TD

Even though he hasn't done much receiving this game (I missed the 1st half) I'm really liking what I've read about Watson this week. Well rounded guy with great god given talent.

Ferguson doing his best OD impression.

The other Penis St. DE showing great closing speed. With all of that talent on defense, how did anybody score on those guys?

I only just tuned in at the end of the 3rd, so I’ll have to read about most of the game. I like what I witnessed/read about Watson during practices. He’d be a good complement of Collins. I love that his speed seems to be deceiving and catches defenders off guard.
