Texans are on the clock who are you picking or who/how far would you trade up to get a guy you really like?

Thoughts on my top 67?

You have Karlaftis quite a bit lower than most... reasons?
Stingley as your 3rd CB? I thought you were much higher on him

I see him as a very solid techically sound guy that's very strong. But I read somewhere he's got short arms and from what I've seen he wins on effort more than athletic ability. Has decent but not great burst and while I think he will be a good player for a long time. Comparison would be a guy like A.J. Epenesa.

I had Stingley as my #2 player on my board originally. But after talking with CnD, he said it probably will be 4-5 yrs before he starts having foot problems again. Gardener and Booth are very good players in their own rights.

I’d target Hamilton, Gardner, or Neal if we end up staying in the Top 10. A lot will depend on the offseason, but I definitely want to target secondary and OL.
I think there’s going to be a run on OTs, so we could potentially gather more picks by trading down. I’m also waiting on what the compensation will be for DW.

We're on the same page,

There are some very good OL in this draft. It's a deep draft in this area also.

Defensive side of the ball is where the most talent is,

There's even more CB's like Woolen/Emerson and Castro-Fields that are still available. J.T. Woods is one of my favorite players in this draft and I hope he falls to 4-115.

It's a solid list. I think all of these guys look like they'll be 1st or 2nd day picks.

There are still some good players left. Desmond Ridder would be BPA for me. 3 edges (Arnold Ebiketie, Drake Jackson, Kingsley Enagbare) would be enticing. Martin Emerson and Marcus Jones are CBs I would consider. Jalen Wydermyer, A&M TE looks like great value here.

Not knowing who went with to the Texans prior, I would take Khalil Shakir, WR Boise State at this pick. Shakir has outstanding hands, runs great routes, and is slippery after the catch. Can play both outside and in the slot. Comp for me would be Charger WR Keenan Allen, also a 3rd round pick.

I wouldn't trade up from this spot. But I might trade down 8-10 spots considering the talent left on the board.

A guy that almost made this list is Grant Calcaterra TE SMU.

He wasa good blocker at Oklahoma. He can stretch the field down the seams and has better hands than Wydemyer. IMHO Only problem is that he does have a concussion history. If he's there at 3-80 I would consider picking him. If he's there at 4-115 I probably would pick him.

If Caserio was to pick Hamilton at 3 then was able to get Salyer at 37. I would trade up for Ross if he was deemed healthy. Then use my other 3rd on Woolen.

Thats a pretty good list. If Pickett is at 19, he's more than likely top 10. If Lovie is staying with the new coach, I'm probably taking Hutchinson or the Thibs with my top pick vs Hamilton. Nonetheless, good list

Hutchinson I can see as Lovie wants to pressure the QB with the front 4. No blitzing.

Lovie is going to have to change a lot if we draft Thibodeaux. He’s more edge rusher than LB. Athletic as heck, but not an NFL LB yet imo

He's an edge rusher, period in the mold of jpp. He's still a work in progress, but he can bend and is an athletic football player.

Agreed

But give me the surer thing, I believe Neal and Hamilton are great football players and I know how they fit my vision of what I want the Texans to be. While I agree with you on Thibs and Hutch for that matter. Give me what I know (Or think I know) vs what I think/hope happens.

There are no sure things in the draft period. Remember Aaron Curry and Robert Gallery? What about Luke Joekel? If there were sure things, there wouldn't be so many busts in the top of the draft. I like Hamilton, but I like Sauce more because he's a lockdown corner. Now, if Lovie is here, Sauce may not be the choice.

I get that there are no sure things. I'm just talking about what my vision of what the team would look like if I was running the draft. This doesn't mean Caserio will see things the way I do. In fact if Hutchinson or Thibs are there I fully expect one of them to be the pick.

Love Sauce too. BTW

My first 2 defensive picks:

DB- Kyle Hamilton (Notre Dame) RD1-03 or later depending on how many extra RD1 picks are obtained.

DE- Jermaine Johnson (Florida St) RD2-35 or later depending on how many extra RD2 picks are obtained.
-or-
DE- Logan Hall (Houston) RD3-67 or later depending on how many extra RD3 picks are obtained.

Would love Hamilton at #3 and Hall at #68.

Pre-Senior bowl, pretty good list. Would move QB's higher in the mix because they represent highest value position.

Wish I could agree with Neal #1 overall but just can't. Edge speed will always give him fits in NFL. What's so damn difficult about these lists is who selects them, do they play to strengths, how they fit in scheme, and how durable their bodies hold up? Extra emphasis should be placed on importance of the game to them. How they process, prepare and project to NFL culture. Would say the Texans organization has failed with every #1 overall pick, for different reasons, but failure, nevertheless. It's no wonder we as fans, having experienced the highs and lows are affected profoundly from process over years of disappointment. Thank you for all your dedication, hard work and friendship, it's going to be another roller coaster, from finding head coach, free agency and the draft.
