Most of us have our favorite prospect that we think has the biggest upside, but the most immediate impact is different. So in looking at all these mock drafts and draft threads here, most have us picking 1 of either Hamilton, Neal or Hutchison.

My question is which of these 3 do you guys feel will have the biggest impact immediately & will be the most impactful overall to our team if we select them.

I don't know.

Who the coaching staff will be the biggest factor. I don't think Hamilton, my favorite so far, would have much impact in the Tampa 2, neither would Kibedeaux... but Lovie wasn't running straight Tampa 2 the last three games. So...

Hutchinson would be the most impactfull in Lovie's traditional Tampa 2

There's 2 question there. Immediately? I think Hutchinson is the most "pro ready". And he's really easy to fit any any scheme the Texans may run.

Overall? I think Neal. You see pass rushers come on the market, but LTs are tough to come by without drafting them. And O-linemen skills erode much slower than pass rushers.

Hamilton is the wild card. How would he be utilized? If Belichick or a defensive genius were scheming Hamilton to best use, his impact could be phenomenal. I'd have to see it first, though.

Hamilton with Lovie Smith is an instant hit b/c there’s no doubt in my mind that Lovie would be able to deploy Hamilton all over his defense. His size, speed, and nose for the ball doesn’t come around that often…..got to take it when you know that is a huge need position.

Honestly, you have to wait until the coach is chosen. What if its Flores and he wants to revert back to a 3-4 ? What if its a coach off the Shanny tree and he wants a guy in zbs primarily? Right now we're just filling up board space.

I think it's a very good question. First of all let me state that I am going with none of the above but rather wide receiver Jameson Williams. I think he can crack the 4.40 in the 40-yard dash. Alabama clocked him at 23 miles an hour GPS . He is an amazing wide receiver that not only brings balls in but knows how to score. On the same field with Nico Collins he will be a nightmare for the defense and great Target for Davis Mills.

I just don't see Texans going tackle in the first round as the mishmash we had this year on oline still reduced sacks over 2020 and should only be better if they were left in one spot to improve.

Hutch, Hamilton and then Neal in that order after Williams.

I don't think he will be Texans first pick but TDs are hard to ignore.

Hamilton

But if you put Neal with another stud ol like Kinnard or Salyer then Neal .

I do think a healthy Williams would be a true difference maker. But no way I would pick him at #3. If you like Williams at 3 then you should like Pickens at #37. He's a guy that can make an impact.

you just lost your franchise QB but you have an unknown who’s shown tremendous improvement and exciting potential. You need to Surround that unknown with as much help as you Possibly can to see what he can become. They better get some OL and weapons in this draft.

I agree about Williams. He’s got Tyreek Hill potential.

Williams probably would not be my choice at 1.3 but depending on additional trade pics we get he could be somewhere amongst those pics. I can see getting Salyer in round 3 or by a trade up to late round 2. I know it's a gamble but based on what I have seen which is minimal I confess, plus the report from PFF that doc posted earlier, our left tackle could be tytus Howard. Put Salyer next to him and you have a tremendous left side. If Howard is not the guy I would be good to go with salyer . I think Britt can hold his own at Center. Heck at right tackle could be slightly better then average. In that scenario our hole is Right Guard.

Personally I hope that they let Cannon go and use that money to get what they thought he could be but at Right Guard. If left in their spots this offensive line could take a huge leap forward in 2022. If it does , as you said, we better have some gazelles for Mills to pass it to.

My spell check continues to make his name meals and I think that should be his new nickname. As in he's waiting for his next meal. We can get good running back in round 4 and Burkhead could have a season like he ended this one.

Tell me what makes you think Howard would be strong at LT? I can buy an adequate RT. But to me Howard doesn't have good enough feet to play LT and is only avg as a run blocker at RT. In short just like another guy you thought was the answer at LT (Davenport) was really a tweener. Below avg LT and not strong enough to be a good run blocker at RT.

After you're position on Davenport, it really makes me wonder how much you value the OL or maybe I think this because you seem to value Howard the same way you valued Davenport. I will give you this though atleast an avg Howard doesn't suck as bad as Davenport did.

I think Howard held his own at LT with his opportunity and there might be a complete rebound in him if he entered 2022 preparing as the starting LT. Salyer is another player I’ve come prize b/c he’s a solid LT or LG. I believe the same could be said about Howard.

Heck is fine at RG but I’d like to see the Texans land Kinnard (Kentucky) b/c like Salyer, he can play RT or RG. For right side insurance, I’m keeping Stueber (Michigan) on my radar b/c he’s a big and strong RT who could also play RG

In all honesty, I’d get Britt under contract. Morrissey could be the answer as starter but the Texans could still groom Scharping as Center as well.

To make the line gel….James Campen has to be allowed to do what he did for the Packers, make this unit eat, live, and breath ZBS.

Next goal….find a couple of big, fast, downhill runners who possess enough vision to cut and go….no dancing or tippy-toeing. The two that would answer that question are RB’s, Breece Hall (Iowa State) and Rachaad White (Arizona State). Throw Burkhead into this mix and the Texans just might gain a running game that defenses would have to respect. Hall and White have all the attributes to be Arian Foster types in this type of offense and blocking scheme.

LT/LG- Salyer (Georgia)
RT/RG- Kinnard (Kentucky)
RT/RG- Stueber (Michigan)
RB- Hall (Iowa State)
RB- White (Arizona State)

Trade Tunsil and Cooks to find any way possible to obtain the extra picks needed to make these 5 players Texans and their offense could grow in leaps and bounds by 2024.

I said Hamilton, but If we can get Calvin Austin III from Memphis in the later rounds, he could be the slot guy we have been looking for. He could be our version of Tyreek Hill.

Howard had 1 good game at LT and now everyone wants him to be the LT. SMH

If you want to trade Tunsil then pick Neal or Cross at #3.

Love Salyer and he could play LT. But his best position is at OG.

Heck is an OT. He's to tall/light to play OG

Love Kinnard and the Stubner picks.

White from Georgia and Robinson from Alabama are guys I would keep an eye out for at pick 115.

1 good game at LT? Again misrepresentation of facts: weeks 12-14 at LT after being shuffled all over the line for most of the season, Howard was at 88%!

I am not saying do not draft [later than round 1] someone who could step in if Howard doesn't continue to improve. As I've said, if Campen is the right coach why not allow him to work his magic at left tackle with Howard? If unsuccessful, go with the draft pick moving forward while keeping costs down in year two of rebuild.

If Davenport had Campen in his first year and had not also been moved all over, he might still be our LT.
How Tytus Howard graded out at LT | Daily Brew

Deepi Sidhu

In a 4-13 season filled with injuries, COVID-19 and quarterback changes, Tytus Howard emerged as a bright spot in an unlikely place.

Left tackle.

Entering his third NFL season, Howard likely expected to find himself lining up at right tackle, where he started every game for the previous two seasons. Instead, he bounced to the opposite side. After Training Camp presented by Xfinity, Howard was named starter at the left guard spot but moved to left tackle in Week 12.

"He was heading into the season with him, and LT (Laremy Tunsil) were going to be the best tackle duo, and they might have been, but then LT gets hurt," OL Justin Britt said. "He gets asked to move to left guard and that was not that much of a learning curve for him because he's played left tackle before. He just had to find his rhythm there. He finds his rhythm. He's playing pretty good ball, and then they ask him to move to left tackle, which I thought he did exceptional. He's a hard worker. He's still young. He's got a lot of football left in him. I don't see why he couldn't be the best."

Despite never starting in the NFL at left tackle until Nov. 28 against the New York Jets, Howard seemed at home back at the tackle position this season. From Weeks 12-14, Howard earned an 87.7 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, ranking second among tackles and fourth among all offensive linemen with at least 150 blocking snaps during that span. Howard finished as PFF's highest-graded pass-blocking tackle among the four weeks he started at left tackle with a grade of 89.9.

"This kid does everything you ask," OL Coach James Campen said. "He tries things, been very flexible. We've been very fortunate that he's able to step into guard, step out of tackle at a hiccup's notice and credit to him, he's a very smart kid. I mean, heck, he could tell you all five positions and probably the tight end position on the team. He's very smart. He's a cerebral kid that learns very quickly, and I just think he's just gotten better every single week."

Yep
Problem with Davenport, he had 2 left feet that even a seasoned dance teacher would have had a problem with.
