If Jags win Dec 19th as most expect, Houston should be locked into second pick in 2022 with Detroit going before. For months Edge Thibodeaux was the almost unanimous selection but Hutchinson from Michigan topping charts now. If this holds and Hutch is taken by Lions, who do you want and why? Please address following:

1. Best player {your guy} IMO no matter what. This roster needs new blood everywhere!
2. We have to have {fill in position} and my choice resolves that!
3. My choice fills a lesser need and we can get a quality guy later round. [examples please]. Pass rush then CB or what you think.
4. Trades

I'd ideally like a trade down and the selection of LG Kenyan Green. The number one priority needing addressing is the improvement of the running game and upgrading our 3 interior linemen is the key for accomplishing this. Green will be the highest ranked OG and will likely end up ranked somewhere around 10 to 20. Trading down will also likely give the Texans an additional 2nd round pick.

Shame there is not a Jonathan Taylor type back in this draft
Seems like an average draft for backs I agree.
Still, there are some backs in here that merit a closer look and one of those is Kenneth Walker III (Jr) out of Michigan St. He quietly had a very good season with 1636 yds and 18 rushing TDs - 2nd most yards of all backs this season.
Well worth a look.

I lean towards the 'Bama LT especially since most of us are expecting Casserio to trade Laremy Tunsil before the '22 Draft, and top-flight edge rushers are of course very valuable, but IMO not as difficult to identify and obtain as a stud OLT.
And folks around here are already so gaga over the Michigan D-lineman because of appearance and physical attributes they think he's automatically gonna be a JJ redux,
and the Oregon edge guy reportedly has a cautionary injury history.

They have the picks

I think they can get 4 of the 6 positions of need filled in tis draft with quality players and that's without trading down or the Derrick trade.

Hopefully they don't reach and stay away from small school guys early.

I'm liking the later Rd guys alot more than the early Rd guys.

A guy like Brooks /McCormick/Ingram represents much better value than Walker/Spiller. IMHO.

I really like Charbonnet but you probably will have to pick him at 3-67.

I think he would be a great pick. I just think Stingley if healthy is the next Champ Bailey and I would have a hard time passing on a guy like that.

I think only you, myself and perhaps optimistic Texan see any validity in trading Tunsil.

Watching Evan Neal has led me to not want him on our team. I am very concerned about him maintaining his weight or allowing it to balloon back up to 390 ish.. I see NFL speed rushers turning him into a turnstile. I do not think he will ever become a Trent Brown, Mailata or Becton. I was extremely disappointed to see Howard relocated from left tackle today as I wanted an evaluation of him for another game at The Blind Side. I have spent the last week trying to convince myself that Tunsil could thrive at right tackle if we felt secure with Titus on the left. My conclusion was that trade for Tunsil is still best for the long haul. I will probably discuss this more in depth in my thread on draft picks and trade.

I am one of those ga ga guys in thinking that Hutchinson will be close to or equal j.j. watts rookie year. Sometimes we want to compare a rookie to j.j. watt's prime which is not fair.

I Enjoyed your thoughts.

I think Evan Neal would still be Jacksonville's pick at #1. The Jags will look to build around Lawrence. Which means the Texans would still have the DE the Lions don't take at #2 on the board. Or anyone else, for that matter.

1Jags Neal
2 Lions Thibodeaux
3Texans Hutch
4 Jets Hamilton over Stingley
5 Texans [DW] Stingley
6. Texans [DW] LG Ekwonu
7 Jets CB Elam

21 Texans [Tunsil]LT Cross + X Howard
2.35 S Daxton Hill
3.66 RG or RT Sean Rhyan
4 from Rams Breece Hall

I've gotten on board with trading Tunsil if he doesn't want to practice or refuses to play hurt, comeback from injury.

Let me get this straight, if Caserio chooses to keep Tunsil you want to move a pro bowl level LT to RT so you can possibly play Howard at RT?

The man clearly has no interest in playing for this team, so difficult for me to believe Casserio will keep him assuming he can get value trading him

Badboy you are far more knowledgeable about evaluating college guys coming into the Draft than I so if you are that convinced Neals ability and/or desire to manage his weight is that big of a red flag then I would defer to your judgement

How do we know the Texans haven't just decided they rather see Howard at LT for the next 3 games? I think we all agree he is not a LG & the Texans may be just trying to figure out what he is, if anything.

Didn't they start Christian at LT the last game?

They did. If McCray & Taylor weren't hurt I believe Howard would have been at LT.

I don't know what they are doing. Forgive me if I come across that way. Just trying to look at all the angles before I let supposition cloud my judgment & condemn a player (Tunsil) who may not have done anything wrong.

We know he's not playing. We don't believe his injury should be the issue.

They're playing Mills over Taylor. They may be playing Howard over Tunsil for the same reason without saying as much.

Looks like we might have the #3 pick, and there’s a good chance that both Hutchinson and Thibodeaux are gone. I would either go Hamilton or Neal if they can’t get someone to trade with them.

Thank you for the compliment and I really wanted to evaluate Neil differently as I am a huge Alabama fan for turning out so many NFL prospects. I am hopeful that Howard can be the left tackle going forward but if we get the trades I'm hoping Caserio can get for us, I want Okwonu for our LG and Cross at RT. Both can play those spots and transition back to left Tackle if needed. I am a strong proponent of players playing to their strengths which is usually their last position in college. Howard is example of that. However Cross and Okwonu skill sets allow other positions. I also want Sean Rhyan for RG but so far cannot work him in until 3.66 as I want safety Daxton Hall at 2.35.

Totally agree. I have nothing against laremy tunsil skillset or his attitude without more knowledge. I think it is possible he could play with his thumb however I will not front the man for not wanting to play on this roster. Business decision for him. The only reason I want to move him to right tackle is I think there is a strong case that Watson will end up going to Miami despite my projection. I also think despite the wishes of many that Tua tag will not want to remain in Miami if that occurs and Stephen Ross will agree to move him. I would prefer that we get the draft pick he might bring from another team as part of a Watson trade however I see a strong possibility of Tua tag coming to Houston. I am also probably one of the few that would prefer him over Davis Mills in 2023. As Tag is a left-hander I think he would benefit from Tunsil being on his Blind Side.

What are your thoughts on Derek Stingley to the Texans at Pick 3?

I just hope Mills can continue to improve so that NC won't be so convinced he needs to pull the trigger on a QB with that first pick.
I have changed my position on Tyrod Taylor being our starter next year as I think Mills has shown enough to be the quarterback for 2022 if not past that. I think Nick is trying to angle for either Stroud or Bryce Young for our quarterback. I totally support that if it happens.

Throw in Stingley and there's your top 5 talents in this draft.

Regardless what Mills looks like. I was one of the more opimistic about Tyrod Taylor. I don't want to see him here next season. I'd rather Mike Glennon.

Love Linderbaum but not at #3.

he might be worth it. Love This kid’s background as a wrestler and as a d-tackle. Couple that with the fact that he’s coming from an o-line factory in Iowa & it tells me he’s got the nastiness, aggressiveness & discipline in him as well as the feet to move and get to the next level if you need him to. Reminds me of another Hawkeye product Marshall Yanda. I think he’s got the potential to be that good.

Giants could take him with their second pick round one.
