Which has nothing to do with adding another NFL team... Jones has the power where it counts... with the other owners
What really counts is the juice in DC and that's where the connections the POLs in Austin and Texas statewide far exceed
any connections there that NFL ownership has, e. g., Washington could terminate the NFLs exemption from anti-trust prosecution in very short order if so inclined.
No Jerry J. is just another 80-year-old codger who likes to get his drunk on while on national TV when his football team is winning.

When was the last time the gov't forced any league to expand or relocate?

2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
The Jaguars should be the franchise looking at the State of Texas as a future home for their organization. The San Antonio/Austin market is ripe for the taking.

The Jaguars are currently drawing an average of 59,850 at home games which is 89% of capacity. I think they could do much better in San Antonio/Austin.

There are Jaguarundi's and Cougars located in Texas so the Jags could keep everything as is and have it make sense in Texas.....new name: Texas Jaguars or San Antonio Jaguars.

That's basically why I'm asking what you think he should do now or in the near future.

I'm sure he notices the empty seats. Are you expecting a press conference?

Hire Caserio, get out of the way. About all he can do.
Should've cleaned house at the end of last season. When Cal decided to keep Esterby, it turned into a clown show. I don't have an issue with Caserio, I have a problem with the process and the problem that remains in Esterby.

I called for a full housecleaning after last season. Out with the old and in with the new.

If I knew what Easterby actually did I might have a problem with him.

You have mentioned on multiple occasions that Easterby was brought in to dig up bones, find hidden closets and clean up the trash. So, does any personnel move have to go through his Texans' worthy filter? If a talented player with potential character issues is available in the draft, would he discourage Caserio from bringing new trash to NRG? Does his Maxwell Smart act continue with Caserio in the building? Has he retired his trash sniffer? You used to be okay with taking a chance on a player who was not considered Texans worthy. Do you still have that opinion?

Recently, McClain said BOB and Easterby worked together. BOB delegated some tasks to Easterby. However, BOB had full control of personnel. All final decisions went through him. However, Easterby would make suggestions and BOB would either take it or leave it. BOB made the final decisions.

McClain said he expected the same thing with Caserio and Easterby and kept reiterating Caserio has full control of personnel and will make the final decisions. Belichick is already on record that Easterby is not a personnel guy. Are you okay with Easterby "suggesting" personnel moves? How often will Caserio take those suggestions? How often will he, "throw him a bone"? I know there will be times when Caserio holds the same opinion as Easterby and it will appear that Easterby made the decision. However, it gets back to that committee approach with Kubiak and Smith that you hated because you never knew who made a decision or was in charge.

Finally, the Texans could have minimized the mistrust swirling around Easterby by simply stating what he actually does. However, whenever Cal or Caserio is asked about Easterby, they keep throwing word salads around and then say, "Jack is talented in many areas, helps us in various ways and he is here and willing to serve". If fans don't trust Easterby and the Texans have failed to define his role or give examples of what he is doing in the building, how can they trust the McNairs? Especially when they heard O'Brien giving Easterby credit for working to give Cunningham 4 years and $58 million and they saw Easterby smiling like a Cheshire cat when Derrick signed his $160 million deal.

Losing what little respect I have for Culley.

“I felt like [Mills] gives us the best chance to win,” Culley said Friday. In the short-term it doesn’t. In the long term, it definitely does
now if he’s saying because of Tyrod’s injury that’s one thing. But it’s his non throwing hand.

I do not believe either QB gives us a better chance to win. The rest of the offense has too many issues for these QBs to overcome.

I know he’s got to say something. But “spark” & “better chance to win” shouldn’t be part of the explanation.

he should just say we’ve got “standards” & Tyrod wasn’t playing up to those standards. It’s possible we’re on the QB carousel right now. But our hope is Davis doesn’t turn the ball over on the first play of the game with some btchass throw a 90 year grandmother would make. No offense to 90 year old grandmothers.

I’m actually getting worked over David Culley quotes.

There are only a few things we can really judge our HC on. What he says to the media is one of them.

He either thinks Davis Mills gives us a better chance to win, or that we’re dumb enough to believe he does. Neither ideas don’t sit right to me.

Coach speak. You should be used to it by now. What is he supposed to say? It's on me?
I have to coach better? Going to Mills reduces our odds of winning this year but helps next year?

Appeasing Watson ended in January 2021 when they knew beyond a doubt that he'd never play for the Texans again.

We've seen multiple teams fire staff mid-season. There is absolutely no valid reason to keep an O'Brien relic on the roster at this point when the results are literally the worse offense in the NFL. They've already got another OC on the roster in Hamilton.

It's clearly incompetence and stupidity on Kirby Drive.

And this is the first time in 45 years that I've every heard a fan base so docile about a franchise with a dismal future using the term "placeholder" for a crappy head coach. Seriously, I've never heard the term in that context before, but admittedly, I've never followed terrible franchises as closely as I do this one. So maybe it's normal for bad franchises to hire "placeholder" head coaches.
Once appeasing Watson went out the proverbial window , I dunno why they didn't just hire the guy they wanted (Josh McCown) to begin with .... other than the fact that he had no experience at all and would have been the first player since 1960 (Norm Van Brocklin) to go from player to head coach the next season.

I don't think it could have been much , if any worse than this disaster .....

There's a big difference in wanting talented but troubled guys on the team and what was going on with down on Kirby. I dont care what players do in their personnel lives as long as they show up on time/practice and play well on Sunday's. But even I draw the line at serial sexual predator.

You mention RS/Kubiak, 1st of all, RS was making the final calls and wasn't very good at his job. Yes, I dont like people making final calls that aren't good at their jobs and spend more time politicking (Godfather) than evaluating talent. BTW, I haven't heard RS crowing about the Derrick draft pick lately, have you? I'm hoping that Caserio is much better at his job than RS was. Good news is Caserio has a 20 yr track record and the jewelry to backup his resume. I'm sure Easterby wont be the only person making draft suggestions in the Texans org and I'm confident that these types of situations will be rare. For instance, how much draft input do you think Easterby had in last yrs draft? I would say very little to none. Now if you told me Pep/McDaniels had quite a bit on input I would agree with you. Bottom line is we know who will be making all of the final calls on personnel. (Caserio)

The last paragraph you sound like a fan who's demanding for some odd reason to know what Easterby's role in the org is. I dont really care what his role is because I know who's making the final calls on personnel. BTW, the Pats haven't had the Texans Worthy type motto and I'm hoping Caserio brings the Pats type approach to drafting/signing guys with him from Foxboro. (Antonio Brown/J.C. Jackson/Corey Dillon/Randy Moss/ even though it turned out badly Hernandez etc....) If this doesn't happen, Easterby will get blamed and maybe rightfully so, but Janice/Cal will truly be to blame because it will be obvious that this is the type of org that they want to run. To answer your Cunningham/Derrick question, Easterby was out of his depth and should never gotten put in the position of negotiating contracts. That was on BOB. Obviously from what we saw last offseason, Easterby is no longer doing that job. There were no bad contracts other than the DJ contract which I didn't like but understood why DJ was retained.
