Games left, Texans got in order: Titans, Jets, Colts, Seahawks, Jags, Chargers, 49ers, and lastly the Titans again. They might beat the Jets or the Jags, but probably not both. At most, the Texans will have 3 wins this season. Probably two, because I don't think they'll lose out. Somebody will have a bad Sunday against them and the Texans will accidently win.

I think a Titans win at the last game is possible. Depends if the Texans want to give it everything they've got to be better than an intentionally bland group of backups on that day I guess.

I expect the Titans to be resting, if so its certainly winnable, but I'm not confident enough in the Texans to say they win any game left on the schedule.

For anyone interested, here is what kept Tua out of the game. He was reported as dealing with a finger injury.........but specifically a fractured left middle finger of his left throwing hand. The middle finger in a QB is responsible for the balance and the spin on the football...........two very important factors in being able to accurately control the pass of the football, as well as serving up a catchable ball.

The most disappointing thing with this team is the lack of faith and inspiration that we even have the right people in charge to lead the rebuild. There is nothing to look forward to as of now.
Pretty much
Who lacks faith and inspiration? If its fandom you are referring to, big whoop. I'm pretty sure Caserio has no problems in this regard. The players? Don't really see it.

So let's get this straight. Taylor gets hurt playing maybe the best football of his career. The day he returns he plays like a 3rd string CFL QB.

Explanation?
He had training camp with the players to start the season. Different set of players now plus simply rusty. And his injury/recovery may still be impacting his play. I'd give him Tennessee to start, then go to Mills if there is no improvement.

I dunno it's still unclear to me why we would want to resume with Tyrod after the bye week instead of putting Mills back in the lineup ?

Taylor is not going to be a starter in the NFL or he already would be. Well, except for basket cases like the Texans. Mills might be, but the jury is still out on that one. Texans don't play again until Sunday Nov 21 and they'll be at the Titans. It won't matter who starts against the Titans, they'll get their asses kicked.

My own view is let Mills play and either let him prove he's something or not. Taylor's already had that chance with several teams and his playing days are coming to an end anyway. No one wants a backup QB who's keeps getting injured. Except for the Texans. LOL

If for no other reason, to save him from the beating from a 6-2 team. Following Tennessee, we have 3 games at home against sub-.500 teams followed by a road game at Seattle, currently 3-5. Mills should start against these 4 teams.
Saving him from a beating - yep that I can for sure agree to as reason to sit him.

Tua should have just wrapped his hand in a club and toughed it out.

So people on here rather watch a team that couldn’t get past the 50 yard line . Lol this team has people losing their minds.
No they would like to see how Mills looks against teams like the Dolphins. We both know what Mills/Tyrod look like against teams like the Bills/Cards/Rams. I also think we know what the root causes of these problems are and Tyrod/Mills are down the list of problems this yrs team has.

Mills looked a whole lot better against the Rams than Taylor did against a terrible Dolphins team. Just sayin'. All the other reasons to start Mills over TT has already been stated.

After calling signing Taylor the best move Caserio had this offseason and stating I would have drafted a different position over Mills, even I'm saying now that there's absolutely no reason to start Taylor again this season. And it's not even about draft position. I honestly don't think Taylor gives the Texans a better chance at winning another game this year than Mills.

Not in the first three quarters in which we couldn’t even get past the 50 yard line. Mills wouldn’t have done any better with the heat the Dolphins were bringing.

I don’t know what happened to Tyrod, but the defense gave him the ball twice inside Miami’s 35 & the Texans got 6 points.

& he threw the ball to their team thrice.

I was ready to see Driskel.

The Rams and the Dolphins defenses are worlds apart.

We dont know and that's the point.
Did the Pats play like a 4th ranked point allowed and 9th ranked yards allowed team against the Texans?

You of all people who thought the Pats could have made the playoffs last year with Mac Jones.

It's all a show.

Texans' Neville Hewitt delivers strong performance as replacement starter
By Aaron WilsonNov 8, 2021

Billed as a tackling machine, Neville Hewitt lived up to that reputation Sunday during his starting debut as the replacement for injured linebacker Christian Kirksey.

Hewitt stepped in for Kirksey, who was placed on injured reserve after undergoing thumb surgery, and recorded a team-high 10 tackles, nine on defense and one on special teams, during a 17-9 road loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins rushed for
just 47 yards and one touchdown on 25 carries, averaging 1.9 yards per run.

The Texans had five turnovers on defense and lost primarily due to quarterback Tyrod Taylor being intercepted three times and the offense going 0 for 4 in the red zone.

“I thought Neville and that entire defense played really good," Texans coach David Culley said Monday. "I thought they played with a lot of energy. I thought they were all around that football all day. We had that one long drive that they had but that drive came off a turnover where we should have had points ourselves. I thought for the most part they played well enough for us to win a football game.”

This game confirmed what we knew: The current O-line is dysfunctional beyond repair. Multiple times they allowed unobstructed access to the QB. They were not playing at an NFL level.

Since we all see it, I don't understand the point of bagging on Taylor or Mills. The most mobile QB's in history couldn't work behind this line. Taylor placed the blame on himself but that was team speak. We know what level of QB play Taylor is capable of when the line functions.

There is a solution path out of this quagmire of a rebuild, and it's not complicated. There will be good linemen in the draft, and Caserio's last draft was decent. If he can draft four top tier linemen, then I'll be optimistic about Mills. He's a great prospect and has the arm of a top 5 QB. He is emotionally mature for his age and goes about his business like a professional. His decision making is improving. I also like Nico Collins. He's talented and plays smart. Brevin Jordan is starting to contribute too.

So that's what I'll be focusing on while enduring the torment of this lost season and Texans Rebuild 3.0. We may lose every game from here, but I'll be watching for improvement from the core players.

Doesn't matter if good oline players are available if they can't coach them up. Tunsil has looked worse being a Texan than he ever had as a Dolphin

I'm not counting on any resolution or draft picks from the Watson fiasco. So it may take two drafts to rebuild our OL. If we get the #2 pick next year, and Thibodeaux is gone, I'd certainly consider trading back for additional picks.

They replayed one, where Howard blocked to his left to assist Cheron on the edge. The Center blocked to his right, to help the RG. No one blocked the guy in the gap between him & he ran a beeline to the QB for a sack.

We can't blame the lack of a hot route on that one. The play called had that blocked up right. It was just executed poorly

The question which must be asked and answered is, why? Is this on the OC? If, at least partially, the fault is in the scheme, then should the OC address this? The team then needs to hire the position coaching to fit the scheme.
This is why I hope Kelly is out after this season and why a new offensive philosophy is needed. We've seen this offensive philosophy for the last 7 yrs and we still cant tell for sure if the main issues are scheme or talent. So lets go with a different scheme and add talent across the OL, then see where the offense stands.

I truly believe…..if the Texans have the #2 pick, they will be sitting on some seriously marketable picks in RD1, RD2, and RD3.

Makes one (me) wonder about the atrocious officiating in the Bears/Steelers game. "Looked like a Duck, quacked like a Duck"

A case could be made that all the "player celebrations" could be considered "taunting" but only if the visiting team does it.
Exceptions being the Steelers, Cowboys, Pats or 49er's.

Not a question of if, but of how much "in game adjusting" there will be going forward.

NY will be forced to call foul during the games and overturn obvious errors or else the league will lose what credibility they have left.
Who you going to believe, the officials or the camera and your lying eyes.

Probably reduce the games to 10 min quarters to keep from having six hour games.

Me too .... I said that after training camp. I happened to notice him, while scouting Kenneth Dixon-RB at La Tech - week after week. Remember thinking, he would be good for a team with a bad offensive line .... he was at his best while running for his life !

After beginning his career at Florida, Jeff Driskel took advantage of NCAA rules to finish with one year as a graduate transfer at Louisiana Tech. He started in 2012 and played 29 games in four seasons for the Gators. But he became an NFL quarterback prospect with the Bulldogs.
Driskel is a big, strong, fast athlete for the position. His speed allows him to make plays in space as a designed runner on read-options and on quarterback leads from the shotgun. He's also elusive when pressured in the pocket and can pull the ball down and scramble for big gains.

Rollouts and throws on the run are all in the game plan with Driskel at quarterback. He moves with speed and balance and is athletic enough to adjust his body to throw on the go. In the pocket, he'll step up to deliver strikes over the middle of the field.
Driskel's arm strength is inconsistent. He has enough juice to throw a fastball when he needs to but is primarily a touch passer. He's able to loft the ball in between defenders on vertical routes but is at his best throwing slants and quick hitters underneath.
If you want toughness, he has it. Driskel isn't afraid to hang in the pocket until the last second and took a pounding in 2015 as he stood in behind a poor offensive line.

Many of us have been saying that for at least seven seasons.
  • They want to be a running team but the OL blocking is terrible, lacks physicality and is as soft as a creamed filled Shipley donut
  • Regardless of the type of RB or size, the running game remains the same. The majority of runs are in the A gap
  • They keep drafting and signing TEs and they are consistently some of the worst blockers on the team
  • They keep drafting TEs to mimic the Patriots with Gronk and Hernandez, but cannot consistently involve the TEs in the game plans
  • They want to run the Patriots offense, but cannot find, coach or draft a slot WR to be as productive as Wes Welker or even a younger Amendola
  • They want to be a game plan offense but their game plans lack flexibility and in game adjustments
  • In this modern NFL era, you have to get your young players up to speed ASAP. Yet, the offense is an over engineered mess that is hard on young players and would make a Dilbert engineer proud.
I can keep going..........

Texans film room: How porous pass protection vs. Dolphins disrupted Tyrod Taylor
Brooks Kubena, Staff writer
Nov. 9, 2021

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. Welcome to Film Room, where we’ll break down significant portions from the Texans’ most recent football game. Have a seat. Set the phone aside. Let’s dive in.

Dolphins 17, Texans 9: How it happened

Miami’s pass rush turned up the heat: The Texans played to win by starting Tyrod Taylor against the 1-7 Dolphins, and the commonly conservative quarterback made unusual errors in one of the worst starts of his 11-year NFL career while facing constant pressure from a blitz-heavy Miami defense.

Some blunders were uncharacteristic. Taylor tried to fling the ball away while running out of bounds just before halftime, but the toss he later called “careless” hung along the sideline and was intercepted by linebacker Jerome Baker. The pick produced a Dolphins touchdown. Taylor’s second-half misfire of Danny Amendola on a wide-open wheel route also cost the Texans points.

“It’s up to me to execute,” said Taylor, whose three interceptions tied a career-high. “Obviously, it’s a team sport. But I’m the one who touches the ball every play, and I have to be better next time.”

It was candid accountability from Taylor, and, although his mistakes contributed to the Texans’ eighth straight loss, spotty protection that included an injury-riddled offensive line certainly didn’t help. Taylor was sacked five times, matching the season-high the rebuilding franchise surrendered last week during rookie Davis Mills’ start in a 38-22 loss to the Rams.

Taylor made most of his mistakes when the Dolphins rushed five defenders or more. Miami overwhelmed the Houston offense with unpredictable blitzes, sometimes spreading up to eight pass rushers along the line of scrimmage, and, depending on the play, rushed a different number of defenders while the others dropped in coverage.

Coach David Culley said the Texans were prepared for Miami’s blitz-heavy scheme, a defense that often sent “zero” blitzes — when a defense sends six or more defenders while the rest play man-to-man coverage — particularly once the offense entered Dolphins territory.

“They got us a couple times,” Culley said. “We didn’t get the ball out when we needed to get the ball out. We knew it was coming. We were prepared for it. We just didn’t execute very well.”

If they were prepared for this and the players couldn't execute, then there should have been some cuts Monday morning and a quest to find players that can execute.

After seeing his comments about DJ after the Rams game, where DJ was unwilling to step up and take on a biltzer, yet Culley said DJ was doing a good job, tells me Culleys full of it and there's no accountability. This seems to be a staple of the Texans org

This is the beginning of a much needed rebuild. The talent isn't there and wont be for a couple of more yrs. What were your expectations? The team was 4-12 with a supposed franchise QB. What did you think was going to happen with Tyrod and a rookie QB that had only started less than 15 games in college?

I'm most disappointed with the OL play.
You make some good points. Still I don't see the vision NC has for this team. I just hope he knows what he is doing.

There's no way to know what his vision is right now, because he's been hamstrung by the Derrick mess and a lack of draft capital.

I'm with you, I hope he knows what he's doing. The juries still out on this, no matter what other posters try to convince you that they know how all of this is going to turnout. They don't know anymore than the avg fan at this point.

TT5 struggled against the Dolphins but he was coming off of a long period of time injured and not playing quarterback for our team. Besides that, from what I have read TT5 had little to no protection against the Dolphins defense and they are another sucky team.

In our next game hopefully we can give TT5 a fair evaluation. The Titans are way better than our team is so judging his play won't be easy.
