Tunsil

Tunsil was the #8 rated LT (May 2021) coming into the season but I’m not sure what his current ranking was before the injury. Also, he’s still a one-trick pony since he’s never been known for his run blocking skills. Top LT’s usually do both parts of their job. I’d still test the market to see what his return may be but I doubt it would be the bloated over the top price OB paid. Why? There’s not an NFL team that would give Houston the same or better deal before the deadline. That would probably be an indication that other teams don’t see him as a complete NFL LT as well.

in 5 games he ranked #54 out of 72 qualifying players. In other words we probably put him on IR because he’s sucked this year and his value is ****.

Are you enjoying todays game?
Tunsil has stunk this year. He And Howard BOTH need to go. I want OLmen that aren’t afraid to mix it up And get nasty. This team sucks! it needs talent badly and the only way that is going to happen is to get rid of all underperforming players with bloated contracts And acquire as many draft picks as possible. I have better things to do than watch this **** show live. I’ll watch it later when I have no else to do and I can speed through all the BS.

How is it every oline player under Kelly/O'Brien/Godsey/ and every other Patriots transplant regressed? What is the common denominator?

1- OL
2- DL
3- LB
4- TE
5- DB
6- WR
7- QB
8- HC
9- GM
10- Coaching Staff
11- ST
12- Ownership

If assembling a successful NFL team involved 12 puzzle pieces……how many times have the Texans ever found and assembled 12 successful pieces for a season or for any length of time?

Never a good time to have one of your, very few, star players injured but if it was going to happen better this year than others. As far as trading Tunsil I'm very torn on it. On one hand I very much like the idea of having our QBs, whomever it might be, blind side protected but then I look at some of the numbers and up coming changes and it makes less sense.

So first we all know that Taylor and Mills is not a long term answer, Mills might get there but at the end of the day he is a 3rd round QB pick so realistically the best you can hope for is a solid backup and/or game manager and anything beyond that is gravy. If I knew we were drafting QB in 22 I would absolutely say keep Tunsil but looking at the class of 22 I haven't seen or heard of any that are really impressing. I'll be the first to say that I don't keep up with college but I haven't heard of any Luck's or Rodgers or even Mahomes or Watsons. There will of course be some QBs taken in the first round, there always are, but I haven't heard of any that truly deserve to be in the first round. So there is a chance we don't draft a QB till 23 at the earliest.

Now even if we do draft a QB in 22 Tunsil's contract is up after the 23 season so you get at best 2 years with him and the new QB and looking again at this draft class I don't see any of these QBs that could carry a team the whole way in their first two years. So yeah figure 2 years, at least, to get your new QB in shape and then Tunsil's contract is up. Now he's already the highest paid LT in NFL history so what do you double down on that? That's a lot to invest in one player that isn't the QB. If we wait till 23 to draft a QB then the numbers get even worse.

So much as I hate to say it, and believe me I do, the best scenario for long term success for the Texans is to go ahead and look at trading him for a team making a serious run thats needs their franchise QB protected and then draft a LT with your first draft pick and worry about a QB later, unless someone just comes out of left field like Mahomes did.

It all comes down to cost for me. What price are we going to get for Tunsil? For a 2nd round pick, I'd rather just keep him. I'd want some type of package that includes a first rounder.

I really don't get moving Tytus to guard. I thought he was playing well at tackle and would only improve.

This is what I've been saying. Laremy tunsil is like an expensive garage we bought to store an average car in.

Trying to get our five best players on the line. Cannon was thought by Nick to be the best right tackle option. 😳 these guys are being moved all over the line and no wonder they can't improve.
So I guess I unconsciously turned off the game sometime in garbage time. I didn't see a 35 yard run by Phillip Lindsay, or a 24 yard run by Mark Ingram. But... they got their averages up. so something is improving.

While I enjoyed those type of runs and understand the need for them in the overall offense, neither of those players are in pressing me this season. I stand by my preseason decision to cut both both of these running backs. With merciless departing and leaving us with a dead money hit of 8 million dollars we are seeing what this season is all about.

Well Marcus Cannon went out on October 9th with back injury and then had surgery. It's not like the Texans chose heck over Cannon for RT. I like Heck at right tackle but believe Nick Caserio would push for Canon if he were healthy.
Thought we were talking about Howard.

I'm glad Ingram is here.

I tried to tell you from the beginning what this season is all about.

Finding out if Mills is the guy and draft position. This should make you happy. But I guess the cap is a bigger deal for you than adding talent and preparing for the 2024 season.
