2022 Draft Top 5 Non-QB Prospects

From my perspective, the Texans are heading for a top 5 pick in next year's draft. The Lions, Jags, Jets, and Giants seem to be the other teams jockeying for a top 5 pick. I really can't see a QB from this draft going top 5. Though, some of these teams (including the Texans) might trade down to take a QB. But for this exercise, I want to find the consensus among out draftniks on whom the top 5 position players might be be from this draft. I'll give my initial guess:

1. Evan Neal - LT - Alabama - JR - 6'7" 350 lbs.
2. Kayvon Thibodeaux - Edge - Oregon - JR - 6'5" 258 lbs.
3. Kyle Hamilton - S - Notre Dame - JR - 6'4" 220 lbs.
4. Derek Stingley, Jr. - CB - LSU - JR - 6'1" 195 lbs.
5. DeMarvin Leal - DL - Texas A&M - JR - 6'4" 290 lbs.

Agree? Disagree? Who should be in/out. Who is the best fit for the Texans.

I don't necessarily agree or disagree, only think that someone from the Georgia defense should be on this list.

Agree…..this group easily represents the top 5 picks. Of course, the media loves building a QB up so if one somehow materializes this CFB season, they could be hyped into the top 5 picks. If the Eagles nor Giants feel confident with their QB’s and don’t feel comfortable in trying to work out a trade with the Texans for Watson, they might be the two teams with the available assets to move up.

I like Aidan Hutchinson as my DE #1. Thibadeaux is a great player but is hurt far to often for me to invest a top 5 pick in. My theory is if you get hurt in college you will get hurt in the pro's.

I also like Anderson the DE from Georgia.

I'm the only person who thinks this but I'm picking in the top 3 I'm picking Stingley and if I get another 1st in the Derrick trade then even though he's former Clemson trash, I'm taking Deion Kendrick and my CB issues should be solved for the next 5-10 yrs. I really like Sanders from Cincy at the top of the 2nd.

Also if I'm picking in the 5-10 range, I'm bringing Kenyon Green home. He would go along way to fixing the run game issues.

Forgetting about the Derrick trade stuff.

Or say you have a top 2-3 pick you could trade down with the Eagles who want a QB and still get guys like Hutchinson/Leal/Green/Kendrick and come back with the extra picks you've gained and get a Kendrick or Gardener.

If the Texans say have picks #7 and # 20 Give me Hutchinson or Green at #7 and Gardner at 20. Don't want Booth.

Just Typical that when the Texans have a high chance of a top pick, there's not a bonafide QB to choose from.....zzzz

Any good MLB prospects? I've always wanted one of those

I’m curious on the thought process of picking Stingley with your belief about injury history. He has been plagued with injuries this year. So does his talent override the risk of injuries in the pros?

I like Hamilton or Hutchinson. I like Stingley, but his injury history makes me hesitant. I really like Elam as a possibility at CB too.

Just depends, I'm not a doctor (Maybe CnD can tell us) but when a CB has a foot problem, say a Lisfranc) then I would probably look elsewhere for a top 5 pick. But if he got a cracked metatarsal in his foot I would probably keep him in my top 5. Feet are kinda important at the CB position.

That makes sense. It’ll be interesting to hear the medical reports come out of the combine.
