You're right. Don't know what I was thinking.

Yeah, most of our fans are jaded for whatever reason, & for good reason. But yes, if those two teams don't make the playoffs, their fans would be mad. Our fans at 0-3 would be dreaming about draft picks & btch if they win a game. I'm sure there's some of that on the Colts forum.

I'm going to go check out the Colts forum, see if I can find anyone upset that they won.
The same for those fan bases especially Titans fans. I know a bunch of them and they’re already complaining about their head coach and Tannehill. Jaguars fans that I know are calling for their coaches head. They have been calling their franchise a joke for some time now. So they’re bleeping just like we are on here

I don't think we have seen enough from DM10 in college let alone the pro's. Being that DM10 came out of college too soon it stands to reason he will have more growing pains.

Many think DM10 has a strong arm. Perhaps they are wrong but I don't think they are. He has shown to me that he has a strong arm but he needs time to learn and showcase that strength. We all know that alone will not make him the kind of Qb we want him to be. Still, I think he has a high ceiling. It remains to be seen if he ever reaches it. He wasn't highly recruited out of college for no reason. He just came out of college way too soon. That may be what ruins his career in the NFL. We shall see.

I think his arm is plenty strong. But his mechanics are inconsistent especially when pressured and he doesn’t have the extra horsepower to make up for faulty mechanics. That’s when the ducks start flying.

Cream rises to the top. Haskins came out too soon as did Trubisky. The difference is they have special traits. Did you not see the underthrown pass to Miller on the int? Being highly recruited out of high school means nothing at this level. Being avg your last year starting tells more

I dont know what qb you watching. He's an inaccurate soft tosser
Mills' accuracy could be better, but his completion percentage is about 60%. Against the Bills it was a bit more than 50%. I have noticed at times he tries to finese or put touch to a pass and it seems "soft". But he's capable of drilling a pass. The deep ball to Miller was underthrown. But this is a matter of getting timing down and becoming more familiar with his receivers. That ball traveled about 45 yds in the air. He needed 55.

Mills threw the ball 21 times against the Bills. He had maybe 2 that looked really bad and a couple more that could have been better placed but wasn't really bad.

There were more than a few plays where rushers were unblocked and more where his pocket was questionable. He was under pressure from a top defensive team all game long.

Mills definitely has some maturing to do at the position, but the Bills game showed he could handle the pressure. He has the mental makeup not to be "Carr'ed" and only needs seasoning under fire.

To me, Mills is a walking contradiction. He underthrows his deep targets and kills his short ones. If he has time, (which is rare), he looks robotic .... opposite of the KC short stop .... who is so natural, he sometimes looks as if he's partly rubber. What we need is a modern day Fran Tarkington .... doesn't Miami have one of those .... small part of a future trade ? I think Sunday was the worst .... most lopsided game I've ever seen - 60+ years ! Question .... if your runners can't run and your receivers can't receive, what is your problem ? I know ! I know !

So where do you see Pickett going in the draft? 2nd round? 3rd? In the 2nd round, maybe. In the 3rd, sure. In the 1st, hard pass.
At this time….RD2. If he continues his upper echelon play through the meat of the Panthers schedule, he’ll go to RD1. The media will make it happen. Again, Pickett has 41 CFB starts under his belt as of this past weekend with the potential of 9 more. He could enter the draft with 50 CFB starts. He’s only missed 2 starts due to injury over that span.

Zach Wilson ascended to RD1 during his final season at BYU then by the end of the season…..was seen as the possible 1-1 pick of the draft. Wilson had 28 starts for BYU.

Completion percentage doesn't equal accuracy. You can throw a ball to a wr that makes him stop or fail to keep running with the ball. It goes down as a completion, but the lack of accuracy prevents it from being a big play. Jimmy G does this often.

You crack me up. For you, all roads always leads back to Derrick Deshaun Watson. @leebigeztx's post was about Jimmy G and you turn it into a comment about.........The 3rd string QB. Too funny.
I thought his post was about Mills not hitting guys in stride, so I pointed out that he's not the only QB currently on the Texans roster that struggles with this issue.

Sorry I got your panties in a wad.

Nothing about Davis Mills relieves me of that drubbing. However, knowing our talent deficiencies on defense I am impressed with what they’ve been able to do consistently through three qtrs. Lovie is putting in some work.

if only we could run a 4 minute offense, or any offense for that matter.

Watching the Bills offense and the way they push the ball downfield to their WRs. Considering Daboll and O'Brien are Belichick disciples, is the Bills offense what BOB/TK was trying to achieve?

If so, it's interesting how the Bills built their offense. Built the OL, signed Cole Beasley as their slot WR. Traded for Diggs as WR1. Similar to BOB/TK, they don't target the TEs much. Under Daboll, their offense have ranked 30th, 23rd, 2nd and currently 2nd in points scored.

Don't know if it will somehow show 40-0 in a good light but here are Mills stats.

Browns | 8/18 44.4% | 102 yards | Average: 5.7 yards | TD: 1 | INT: 1 | Sacks: 1-7 | QBR: 17.4 | Passer Rating: 58.1

Bills | 11/21 52.4% | 87 yards | Average: 4.1 yards | TD: 0 | INT: 4 | Sacks: 3-26 | QBR: 0.8 | Passer Rating: 23

To be fair. Assumptions are being made about Mills based on going against these highly ranked defenses. Similarly, assumptions were made about Taylor based on his six quarters of work against the 18th and 27th ranked defenses.

I heard someone on 610 saying Taylor was leading the league in QBR. They never considered the terrible Jags defense. I guess it's all about perspective.

Browns allowed:

33 to the Chiefs
21 to Houston
6 to Chicago
7 to Minnesota

Patriots allowed

17 to Miami
6 to the Jets
28 to the Saints
19 to Tampa

Bills allowed:

23 to the Steelers
0 to Miami
21 to Washington
0 to Houston

Panthers allowed:

14 to the Jets
7 to the Saints
9 to Houston
36 to Dallas

So like you said it’s all about perspectives. No team is stopping the Chiefs offense.
The Cowboys made the Panthers defense look like crap.
The Patriots defense looked bad against the Saints.

Neither of them has exactly set the world on fire. What traits you may think that they have that DM10 does not have has not really stood out imo.

In fairness, Trubisky was wasted by a poor O-line and poor coaching.

I don't think there has been enough time to determine any good traits DM1O has. Peyton Manning struggled his first season and I am sure his positive traits were not so obvious at the time. I think it is way too early to give up on DM10. I could also be wrong. Whether he measures up this season or not I am for keeeping him and letting him compete for the starting role next season.

I seriously doubt Taylor is leading in QBR because he lacks the snaps to qualify in the ranking.

I’ll say this at least, Culley owns up to it when they suck. He said Joe Montana couldn’t have won with that offense. It’s not an excuse for sucking but at least we don’t have to wonder if the HC even realizes that they suck. More than could be said for the last 6 years.

This ridiculous analogy will never end. :hankpalm:

Peyton Manning Rookie QB Facts:

Lead NFL in INTs with 28. Brett Favre was 2nd with 23.

Was 5th in TD passes with 26. Set rookie record he would hold for 20 seasons.

3rd in passing yards with 3739. Set rookie record he would hold for 13 seasons.

2nd in pass completions with 326. Set rookie record he would hold for 12 seasons.

I'm begging everyone. If you feel the urge to use Peyton Manning as an example of a rookie QB struggling...just stop yourself.

I agree entirely that comparing Mills to Manning is ridiculous. By that same token comparing Mills to ANY 1st round QB draft pick is ridiculous. No Mills will NEVER be Manning but by the same token he wasn’t selected at 1:1 either.

Mills is like exactly what everyone should have thought he would be. A 3rd round draft pick that could be a solid backup or maybe a game manager starter. Neither of those are a bad thing as long as expectations are managed. Seems to me the people complaining were expecting him to be able to be a sure fire starter his first season.

He wasn’t expected to be and he wasn’t drafted like he would be and if TT hasn’t gone down and Watson was persona non grata on a football field then Mills wouldn’t have gotten closer to the field than the sidelines this season.

I didn't. But I was comparing how O'Brien and Daboll left the Patriots and their implementation of that offense with the Bills and Texans.

As far as Gronk and Hernandez, with his fascination with drafting TEs. I always thought BOB was trying to emulate that combo.
…..wouldn’t that be like asking a blind OB to identify blue and green on a color chart?

Ok yes both are QBs but by that line of thinking you can compare a Lamborghini to a Honda civic because both are cars.
I’m not worked up at all I just think people are forgetting that just because he was our first pick of the draft doesn’t mean he was a round 1 level talent.

Actually I find the whole thing to be amusing because if we have had a round one pick or even round two pick, assuming neither of those was Mills, then they would be under the microscope and Milks would be a “also selected in the draft”. Makes me wonder if we have had no picks till the 7th round then would we have analyzed them like this? My money is on yes because for a lot of people the draft is more fun than the season particularly right now.

We don’t know why they drafted Mills, but some of us were under the impression they saw 1st round talent, with 3rd round experience.
Under the impression maybe but that's an assumption again based on him being the first draft pick. Its also possible they just saw a solid backup for whichever QB they draft in the future or a project QB. Even if you are right you said it yourself, 3rd round experience so even if he was the second coming of whoever you want to compare him to he still wouldn't get there 4 games in and certainly not against the 3 defenses he just played against. I'm not defending Mills per say, could be he does suck that bad, but the knee jerk reactions around here boggle the mind.

Fair enough. However, I will not be too harsh on DM1O at this time. He did have an all time bad game for a quarterback drafted anywhere in the draft but I found one Qb who struggled almost as much as DM1O and he was drafted first in an NFL draft.

Alex Smith
Drafted: No. 1 overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 2005.

First start: Loss (28-3) to the Colts in Week 5 of 2005; 9 of 23 (39.1 percent) for 74 yards, zero touchdowns, four interceptions, five sacks and a passer rating of 8.5.

No the 49ers didn't get blown away near as badly as our Texans did but none the less Alex Smith really stunk up the joint that first game and for the most part, the rest of that season. It is safe to say that Alex Smith ended up being a pretty good quarterback. Not an all time great but a more than serviceable starter.

Troy Aikman, Peyton Manning among QBs with bad first starts (nfl.com)

DM10 was far from the first player picked in the NFL draft so his struggles are even more to be expected. He may never amount to much but I am not outright going to write him off after one really bad showing. One poor start on a bad football team against a really good football team with one of the highest rated defenses does not equate to the automatic end of a football career as a starting quarterback in the NFL. At least is shouldn't.

Wow. That terrible first start might be the reason Smith became a really good game manager who always took the "safe" pass without challenging defenses. He did become a good QB, but his inability to consistently make plays to challenge defenses or be a play maker when it was needed, always led to him being replaced.
