BADBOY'S 2021 college players to watch

badboy

Hall of Fame

Transferred from Notre Dame to Boston College.

What round is he being projected in? Could be a nice late round pick. Is he entering the draft or staying for a second season at BC?

It’s the hype board…let’s see where everyone is at come mid-season and where they finish when the regular season concludes. There’s going to be a lot of juggling in player rankings by then.

Oops..here is one from Oklahoma that I was going to add to the list but he has been ruled ineligible for 2021. Marcus Major.
Sooner Maven: Report: Oklahoma RB Ruled Ineligible.

Tonight 7 p central Minnesota vs Ohio St (championship loser 2020) Fox local
2020 season: The season was played amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Big Ten Conference initially cancelled the fall sports season, on August 11, 2020,[2] but reversed course on September 16, announcing an eight game conference-only schedule.[3][4] Ohio State's nonconference games against Bowling Green, Oregon, and Buffalo were cancelled. 8 games 7-1 over all and in conference 5-0

Players to watch projected in top 50 at Draftnetwork.com

#11 Wr Chris Olave 6'1" 188 21 YOA featured WR inside or out depending on opponent. High school long jump 26'6 " 100 meter 10.8 seconds. At Ohio St in 21 career games 19 TDs. A route technician with high IQ; not physical and often loses contested balls. He needs ball to be on him & was preferred target of now NFL Justin Fields. Handles press coverage well & is a 3 level threat. Should translate to NFL well.

#19 WR Garrett Wilson 6" 192 21 YOA slot twitchy often used by Fields as check down & ran multi routes. Easy to wall off & despite build not physical player. *often leaves feet to catch ball in chest rather than remaining on ground using hands.

#32 Cb Sevyn Banks 6'1" 200 21 YOA senior perimeter CB whose older brother Marcell Harris is NFL safety for SF. Banks in second year as starter & needs to step up. Best advantage last season was playing opposite Shaun Wade. 2020 played slot and outside. Physical player who can eat up WR in press; however allows WR with deep speed and quick get off to run by him. I was hopeful for him early but that faded watching him play. I projected him to safety until he wisely returned to school.

#49 Left OT Senior Thayer Munford 6'6" 320 21 YOA 34 career starts at OT should be LT this season. Made improvement last season but needs to double that in a full season. I was not impressed.

An RB I was interested in Master Teague needs have a great season to come back into contention. 5'11" 225 junior 8 TDs in seven games 104/514 with 5/46 receiving.

Corner Banks warmed up but not playing so far.

Ohio State was already without starting cornerback Cameron Brown so if Banks is not going to play or if he’s just not starting, it’s a loss for the Buckeyes against four-year starting quarterback Tanner Morgan.
There’s always the chance that Banks is serving an undisclosed suspension for some unknown reason and won’t start the game but could make an appearance later on.
Bill Landis reports Banks was on the field for pre-game warmups but didn’t participate in any 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 work. Banks is in uniform so that suggests he’s not injured.
uh oh

Watching number 10 North Carolina's quarterback Sam Howell vs Virginia Tech. First quarter ending with Tech ahead 7 to nothing and running all over North Carolina's defense. Pregame, Howell was the only one I am interested in. Tech CB Jermaine Waller missed most of 2020 with an undisclosed arm issue but I want to at least eyeball him.

NC defense creates a turn over on their own 35.

I turned on this game to get a good evaluation of Howell expecting a stomping of Virginia Tech. It has turned in to be just the opposite. Tech is handing North Carolina their a $ $.

It's only one game but my evaluation of Sam Howell has dropped immensely. I will be paying a lot of attention to Rattler Saturday morning at 11.

Howell is a Cousins type QB.

You should check out Strong and give me your thoughts.

No bullying, I would like to know your thoughts.

Gabriel made a couple of bad mistakes last night, but he impressed me.

Penn State versus Wisconsin at 11 a.m. on local Fox channel. Also 11 a.m. on local ABC will be Oklahoma vs Tulane.

I will be watching linebacker Brandon Smith he's ranked 29th 6ft 3 241 lb just turned 20 years old a few months ago. In high school he ran a 4.38 40-yard dash. He has been compared to Isaiah Simmons with freakish athletic gifts. Needs to watch his discipline as he was flagged twice in 2020 late hits.

Also want to get my first look this year of Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler. I hope he does not disappoint me as Sam Howell did last night.

I like Gabriel and as you stated he did make some mistakes but that hopefully will be corrected this season. I am also focusing on Nevada quarterback Strong. My concern with him is also as with the USC quarterback as this season he could go either way and both have everything that's needed to be a franchise quarterback. Will that come together for either or both?

Carson Strong is 6 ft 4 215 pounds as a redshirt Junior this season in 2020 he had 27 touchdowns with only four interceptions and averaged 8.1 yards per attempt with 70.1% completion ratio. Has a cannon arm with a quick release, the ball comes out with flames attached. Easily tosses for 60 plus yards. In the bowl game last season versus Tulane he had five touchdown passes with only six in completed passes. PFF has him ranked number 3 last year for deep passes only behind Zach Wilson and Mac Jones now NFL quarterbacks.

Now for the concern with Strong he is terrible Under Pressure 48 % complete which he will definitely be in the NFL.

If he learns to sit in the pocket and Trust his blocking he should improve this year however his coach will not change up the offense to protect Strong.

Oklahoma/Tulane - Spencer Rattler as advertised. Watch the first 10 minutes of the game .... it's the Michael Pratt show - kid is a phenom !

Gabriel is very accurate and has an above avg arm. He's also mobile.

48% isn't as bad as it looks when you take into consideration that he was under pressure quite a bit last yr. I love Strong's accuracy in addition to his arm strength. He also has good mobility for a big guy although he's not a run 1st QB. My comp for Strong is Justin Herbert. He's got some of the same questions Herbert had coming out. Another thing is Strong only had one D-1 offer coming out of high school because he tore an ACL his Sr. yr.

Rattler phenom ally threw INT first series...but I get what you mean. Only one season behind him so he can really take a huge step forward.. and if he does.. oh man!

They are good to great college QBs, but not somebody I really want as a starter in the NFL (ie., Drafted in the first round; even though one or two might be.)

I'm hoping one of them change my opinion.

Ok here is a beef I have, Rattler gets blitzed and tosses ball to a safe area to avoid sack; gets an intentional grounding but didn't eat the ball or get tackled avoiding poss injury. Announcers " he threw it where no receivers were! He's gotta learn to get out of tackle box! You called it right partner! Intentional grounding (said twice).

The kid had no blocking and no time to locate WR whom all seemed covered so he throws it away. Sure he could have gone down but that loss appeared to be close to what intentional grounding cost but I thought it was smart play. Unfortunately he then throws an INT. I am just fed up with media types, TMZ etc trying to be the news/event rather than just report it.

I though he (Rattler) was done for the day, but they put him back in the game so I missed the second INT.

Rattler just had another INT but a bad ref call gave him first down on bad throw. Dude just great, great, good, great, then horrible decision. Stats will show two INT but three happened.

There goes the third INT (should have been).
Luckily the ref called PI on the CB (not sure it was the right call though).
On the other hand, had the WR run the route correctly and turn around for the ball, maybe it would just be an incompletion?
Hard to say.
Need to study the replay.

Oklahoma is fortunate to win his game and even more to play Western Carolina Wildcats next. Tulane called final series crazy IMO and QB on 4th down came up yard short of a first to extend their chances..

Riley needs to use this film for training.

Here we go with # 14 Miami versus #1 Alabama who scored on first possession. As usual 'Bama has so many NFL possible players it takes concentration to type and watch...:elvis:

Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley received a big raise and contract extension on Tuesday when the OU Board of Regents approved the terms of his new contract.
He’ll make $6.15 million in 2020, officially a $150,000 increase. And the six-year, $45.21 million deal gives him an annual salary of $7.535 million through 2025.
Lincoln Riley’s annual salary
  • 2017: $3.1 million
  • 2018: $4.8 million
  • 2019: $6 million
  • 2020: $6.15 million
  • 2021: $8.05 million*
  • 2022: 7.565 million
  • 2023: $8.275 million*
  • 2024: $7.585 million
  • 2025: $7.585 million
  • CURRENT DEAL: Six years, $45.21 million

I am prob only to think this but I want Texans to become an NFL ALabama in that several players leave each year but wise selection keeps depth solid with next man up actually being a thing. RB Brian Robinson an example of wait, wait get your time to start and explode. Another is WR Metchie whom scored first TD today.

LT Evan Neal; LB Christian Harris; S Jordan Battle; Josh Jobe who looked bad in playoffs and was smart to return to Bama.

and just for fun freshman
Freshman defensive back Ga'Quincy McKinstry, who goes by the nickname "Kool-Aid" and is listed as such on Alabama's official roster, said on Twitter that he's entered into a partnership with the popular drink company Kool-Aid.

I am on football overload as I watched much less college last year. Several games today so far with Alabama and Texas games winding down and Clemson + LSU +Houston vs Texas Tech (QB Tyler Shough pronounced Shuck )

Then Carson Strong at 930 pm...oohh my eyes! My hand tendonitis is going crazy between keyboard of laptop and cell plus remote control.

Back from a ribs and mac n cheese supper:

Former Ohio State [9/154 and 2 TDs] transfer to ALabama Jr WR Jameson Williams 6'2" 188 and a speed demon as exhibited on his 34 yard TD vs Miami. 4/126. He was evaluated in HS by 247 comparable to Will Fuller but "excellent hands". 3 time state champion 300 meter hurdles with a Missouri state record in track beating Ezekiel Elliott's record. High school 100 meter 10.54. Should open Metchie up for more yardage although he might end up as last year not being the feature guy.

Texas Tech Jr WR Erik Ezukanma 6'3" 220 (dayum) tonight versus U of Houston 7 for 179 yards @ 25.6.

2020 46/748 @16.3 7 TDs

Erik Ezukanma has a great blend of skills for a wide receiver of his size and has a chance to increase his production with Tech’s new QB situation. For a guy who’s 6’3, Ezukanma flashes nuanced releases to beat press coverage, using his feet as a serious weapon. His go-to is a stutter release and he does great to gain ground and close space on the CB, rather than just staying sedentary and not creating an advantage. For a changeup, Ezukanma uses a glide step and will vary the pace+cadence of his footwork to keep cornerbacks guessing. He’s got deceptive deep speed due to rolling-build-up acceleration which accompanied with calculated hand fighting throughout the phase leads to Ezukanma being an adept deep threat. He will leverage the respect defenses give his deep prowess to open up the underneath game - selling outside-releasing go routes to open up space for hitches and use a subtle push-off at the break to separate. When the ball is in the air, Ezukanma’s body control is fascinating to watch as he can contort his long frame to snag errant throws above, in front and behind him. Furthermore, sticky hands are his expertise, he knows how to attack and high point the ball - especially on post routes - and displays astute concentration during contested scenarios. This is especially apparent in the red zone, where he can win jump balls with ease - even when cornerbacks are in good position - due to boxing out and good vertical. Once the ball is in his hands, Ezukanma is a physical runner who, if schemed into space, earns YAC via his competitive toughness and will to fight for every extra yard.

Spencer Rattler and Sam Howell were the only two QB's, outside of Carson Strong possibility, that I thought had a chance to be worthy of super low - 1st round consideration, but, I'm pleasantly surprised the number of QB talents I saw in parts of many games today .... I flipped around so much, I've still got Clicker's Hand .... and we've already arrived at Next Week !

I'm on board with Strong in the 1st, but not 1-1.

I am not seeing any games that I am interested in watching tomorrow. Most teams are playing softy opponents.

Yeah aware of that matchup and may end up watching some of it however I don't expect Thibodaux to do much and more concerned with him making the ankle worse. In my opinion he's coming back way too soon. Olave is an interesting wide receiver but I don't see Oregon offering much competition.

Update: Thibodaux not playing and I think that's smart on the coaches. Seven Banks needs to impress! Oregon CB Mykael Wright had a stupid penalty on a hit out of bounds in the first quarter.
