Seems to me that literally everyone is discounting the "pending" criminal charges .... If you watch ESPN its like they don't exist at all. No one mentions it .... That's the elephant in the room that's holding up any potential trade ... but its almost a taboo subject.

From what information I've heard , those criminal charges are significant .... and they aren't going away.

I guess it's just typical poor journalism that we've I've come to expect from todays media.

I think they know that but they don’t want to touch it at all. I wonder how soon they could be brought

You're right to a certain extent, but what also must be considered is this has been Wat$son's M.O. for over half a year now.

He's been unwilling to fight his own battles like a man so he uses his proxies to get his message and agenda out (as well as post cryptic tweets with other people's words).

Where I come from this type of behavior was called being a chicken**** (my asterisks), but I've been told this is how both modern entertainers and so-called "generation Z" conducts themselves.
AND..... may I add, not only is it chickenshit where I come from as well but that type of behavior will also get your ass whipped. But I grew up in a different era.

I noticed this too, weeks ago and nothing has changed as more info comes out that paints Watson in a bad light.

I think it all comes down to the national sports media hates Houston thing. Which by my perspective is a very real thing (just ask Kornheiser how he feels about the entire city of people he has never met). Every show I watch they usually go out of their way to take a shot at the Texans any time they can. My guess is they are CHOOSING to ignore it. I mean why report on something that might make the Franchise look good and DW to be the bad guy. The ran with other stories over the years but they aren't even touching this one. And this is the me too era to boot! I certainly have my suspicions why that is, but I'll keep that to myself.

They're still trying to look out for this dude. But the media will still take a crap on the McNairs and the Texans.
As of yesterday, the 49ers, Eagles, Packers, and Texans have canceled their mandatory mini camps. I think Seth Payne mentioned the union was pushing for players to skip the mini camps. So, a compromise between some teams and their players appears to be attend the voluntary camps and if the attendance is great, cancel the mandatory camp and avoid fines.

If DW4 ponies up a bunch of cash those criminal charges could disappear rather quickly. That is what I can't wrap my mind around. DW4 is a very wealthy man and it is not like paying these women a fairly substantial amount of money is going to cause him to go broke. He could have ended this a long time ago with little to no repercussions. As things stand now he is risking spending time in jail.

What other lives are being ruined other than those he imposed himself on for selfish or other reasons? Things were going good with him and the Fans until he pretty much ***** slapped everyone then didn’t have the guts to come out from behind his social media sources To explain his trade demands other than to say he wants to take his toys and go home. And if you are concerned about those other lives then why not rejoice in the fact that he is being prevented from further harming them.
If he had consensual sex with some of these women as he admits to, it most likely means he paid those women for that service. I doubt all his accusers are vicitms. It is well known that some women use the massage therapy service as a cover for prostitution. Yes DW4 is a perv and it is also likely that his rabid sexual addiction caused him to lose control to the point where he made unwanted advances with some legitimate masseuses. I am not defending him because he does not need to pay for sex but from what has been said, his desires go beyond sex. He needs to pay prostitutes for the kinky stuff he desires. He has an addiction and unless he pays off these women and privately seeks therapy, he faces possible time in jail.

To be clear

What DW4 did ain't normal.
What he has done is the actions of a person with a sexual addiction. I feel sorry for him that he has lost control and is as obsessed with kinky sexual behavior as he is. I don't expect him to admit to the public at large that he has a problem, but if he ends his current predicament he should privately seek therapy for his addiction.

Most definitely.

Ole James Harden just paid some random chick on social media $ one hundred thousand to go out on a date with him.

That's actually what has happened. But it is certainly fortuitous that an early confrontation has been avoided by both parties.

Why would former teammates want to associate with an accused sexual predator?
Steelers don't seem to have problems finding guys to play with Roethlisberger, multiple rapes. Titans were able to fill their 53 when Mettenberger, who had a taste for very underaged girls, was their QB. Chiefs didn't seem to have any issues getting guys to play with Tyreek Hill, he tried to abort his baby by beating it out of the belly of his pregnant girlfriend. Unfortunately, to date, the NFL does not care.

Does Rehab for Sex Addiction Really Work?
Experts weigh in on sex addiction amid Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey scandals

By Kara Warner
November 22, 2017 03:14 PM

The wave of Hollywood sexual misconduct scandals has put sex addiction in the spotlight —along with the treatment programs that address it.

Following accusations of sexual assault and harassment, Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey have both acknowledged they are in treatment. Though neither man has specified what he’s being treated for, they’ve both been linked to a facility offering treatment for a wide range of addictions and disorders that has a special program for sex addicts. (Weinstein, who’s getting treatment while staying at an Arizona hotel, has apologized for behavior with colleagues “that has caused a lot of pain,” but denied any nonconsensual sex. A Spacey rep has said the actor is “taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment.”)

But what is sex addiction, and is the term even relevant to these men’s alleged predatory behavior? We asked experts to weigh in on the controversial topic.

Is sex addiction taken seriously in the medical field?

The short answer: it depends on who you talk to.

Sex addiction is not an “official” disorder recognized in the American Psychiatric Association’s reference guide, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).

David Glass, an L.A.-based family law attorney who also holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, says sex addiction isn’t considered in the same category as alcoholism, drug addiction or gambling addiction (all DSM-5-listed addictions) by medical professionals because “the science just isn’t there yet.”

Still, plenty of doctors and facilities use the term as they treat people struggling with sexual compulsions they feel are out of control and causing negative consequences. Gary Fisher, executive director of Cirque Lodge treatment facility in Utah, says clients often seek help for both chemical dependencies and sexual addiction at the same time.

“Certainly people who continue to pursue [sexual behavior] or drugs in the face of obvious consequences would qualify as addicts in our book,” he says.

Glass also notes that there are important differences between people who claim to be sex addicts and people who are sexual predators.

“Sexual predators don’t have a lot to do with sex. There are sex acts and forced sex acts, but it’s not the same sort of motivation,” Glass says. “The sexual predator is all about control, controlling someone in a humiliating way and getting them to do something they would ordinarily never do. The same way you differentiate between rape and consensual sex.”

How is sex addiction treated?

Sex addiction is treated very similarly to drug and alcohol addiction, according to experts. Success depends on a patient’s personal motivation and commitment to getting better.

As Glass explains it, the first step in treatment is figuring out how motivated a person is to be in treatment and if he or she wants to make a change. The second is “getting them to identify the triggers, the environmental stimuli that get them thinking about whatever their addictive behavior is. Is it feeling unimportant? Is it feeling insignificant?”

The third step, says Glass, “is getting the person to recognize when those triggers come along” so he can stop the behavior.

Sex addiction and predatory behavioral issues often involve substance abuse, as well as other factors, says marriage and family therapist Ari Labowitz, founder and director of Peace by Piece Treatment Center.

“It goes back to that root of discovering if it’s a learned behavior or it’s genetic,” he explains. “What are the reasons it’s occurring? Oftentimes with adults preying upon younger people, underage people, generally they themselves have been a victim of that type of predatory behavior, so it becomes a learned behavior.”

How successful are treatments for sex addiction?

Results all depend on “the person’s willingness to put in the time and effort to figure out and recognize what they’re doing is wrong and hurts other people,” says Glass.

“It’s the old joke about ‘How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? One, but the light bulb really has to want to change.’ That’s what it all comes down to with anyone going into treatment, but especially with behavioral treatment for an addictive behavior.”

Glass adds that wealthy individuals or those in positions of power can struggle with acknowledging their bad behavior.

“People who have a lot of money and houses and boats and cars, they still have a bunch of people running around servicing them, handling their appointments and everything else, it’s hard for them to ever feel like they’ve hit rock bottom,” says Glass. “‘I’ll lay low for 60-90 days and I’ll be back running my company again.'”

Because his agent is a moron and so are the people he hangs out with. He knew about the allegations coming out and still went to instagram. No, cash won’t fix the problem now. It’s beyond that. If the state believes there is evidence they can still proceed with the case even if the accuser wanted to drop the charge. Even though that’s not likely with 11 open criminal complaints

So your thought is that no matter how egregious Watsons behavior may have been, never the less he will still have the option to buy his way out of this mess ?
If the ladies withdraw and won't testify, I am not sure there is a case. It does not seem even as stupid as he has been that he left recordings and such, so the evidence is testimony. If he can get the civil and criminal ladies to take money for an NDA and cease any involvement, this dries up IMHO. What an ass hat getting here and doing this to the women who were just doing their jobs (I feel some were instagram prostitutes and now grabbing money, but not all)

I'm going to point this out again:

Of the 11 women who have gone the criminal route , only two of those have filed civil suits.

You can't just pay someone off who isn't after money.

What Watson means by consensual is that they finally broke down and did what he demanded after his coercing , threatening and in at least 3 cases used physical force to get the desired result. If you want to call that consensual ....

These women aren't prostitutes acting like massage therapists , they are all legit in their fields. Many of them were referred by other therapists. Those that aren't massage therapists told him that up front , that they specialized in other aspects of therapy and he scheduled appointments regardless. It's Watson who was the fraud , he didn't want massage therapists , he wanted victims.

After the things I've read and been told about these individual cases , I cannot fathom anyone defending this asshat.

I’m pretty much burned out on Watson, but unfortunately this is playing out like I expected it would. It’s dragging out with no end in sight.

I wish there was an out (of the contract) for the Texans but it doesn’t look like there is. They’re stuck with him and as far I’m concerned they kind of had it coming. They allowed an imbecile (or two) to “negotiate” some disadvantageous (for the organization) contracts. Call it “Watson Karma”.

Watson's contract is a standard NFL deal , nothing abnormal about it. The only thing disadvantageous is the value and of course the NTC which only of his stature are given and you had no intention of trading away your QB anyway.

Blaming the franchise for any of this is misguided , the fault lies with one man and that's Watson himself.

As for an out , there is one - the NBA code of conduct which allows the franchise to void the guaranteed money on the new deal and escape the cap hit.
They could enforce that at any point but have refrained from doing so in hopes of getting some compensation should he avoid prosecution. If they void the contract and his current one expire before the conclusion of the legalities , he's an unrestricted free agent and they get nothing. Multiple #1's is something they are willing to wait for and for good reason.

The hate this front office gets is over the top misguided and unnecessary.

There is a clear problem in the massage therapy industry. Legitimate therpist are often getting mixed up with the false ones. I make no excuses for DW4 but to me it seems obvious he mistakenly thought all the therapist he contacted would have sex with and/or perform sexual acts on him. DW4 is hardly the first client to sexually assault legitimate therapist. It is a rather big problem in the industry. That does not mean DW4 should be let off the hook but it also does not mean all the therapist he made contact with are innocent. Plenty of clients expect happy endings.

Also, Asa criminal investigator. From my expertise, Watson deleting his Instagram messages, means he would be stupid enough to have had harassing communications through text message. I imagine Buzbee and HPD have those as well.

Why do you think plenty of his accusers were prostitutes?
Why does most of the people on here think none of them were? As many massage therapist as DW4 had, it is highly unlikely all of them were on the up and up. DW4 acknowledged he had so called consensual sexual relations with some of his accusers. Though the sex was consensual that does not mean he did not pay for that service or break the law. It is known that plenty of so called massage therapist use that job as a cover for bringing clients so called happy endings. Instagram is a great way to cover up the act of prostitution. I am sure many of these women know one another and share clients. It is a convenient and great way to do business. If law enforcement had discovered clear cut evidence of what he is being accused of, DW4 would already be convicted and a sentence would be all but secured.

Patriots owner Bob Kraft may have been acquited on his charge of solicitinig sex with a massage therapist but that does not make him innocent. It is just as likely he got away with it. It points to the problem of prostitutes using a legal job description to get away with their illegal activities. Plenty of massage parlors have been shut down due to the acts of prostitution.

I left links on one of my recent post in regards to the problem. I get that we all have a reason to hate DW4 but that does not mean that he sexually assaulted all his accusers. He obviously has a problem he can't control or he would not have tried to force himself on women who he did not know if they were prostititutes or not. I hate what he has done in regards to trying to force a trade but I also realize he is a sick man who needs help. Not simply because he solicited sex but due to the nature of his actions and the number of women involved.

On one of those messages from Watson he apologized for making the young lady feel uncomfortable.
He broke the law in regards to hiring women for sex and sexual acts so why would he not delete his messages? He faces legal recriminations no matter what. I am sure he wants to avoid any and all punishements assoctiated with him breaking the law, and also he wishes to protect his image, if at this point that is even possible.
