Geron Christian claimed by the Texans

NC throwing mud balls at the wall and hoping some of them stick. At some point I would think NC will have brought in enough castoffs to compete for spots on the team.
 
I liked Geron Christian as a prospect coming out. He went a few picks before the Texans took Martinas Rankin in the 2018 draft. He struggled with injuries while in Washington, got injured 6 games into the 2020 season where he was the starting LT.

Started every game he played at Louisville, often playing both LT/RT throughout the same game. He has starter quality feet for an OT but his strength is lacking. Not sure how much more he’ll improve his strength after 3 years in NFL but imo it’s much harder/more valuable to find an OT that can move fluidly enough to mirror speed rushers. Will be interesting to see who they carry in camp for swing tackle between Heck, Johnson and now Christian. This is the deepest OT unit in franchise history with Tunsil/Howard as starters and Roderick Johnson as a solid swing OT and Heck/now Christian competing for that swing OT role.

There's something you need to understand friend: we are gonna need to throw gobs and gobs of mud on the wall on the way to shaping, molding, and realizing the reality of the Caserio/Culley juggernaut.

Mud in the terminology of bricklayers is the slang term for mortar, which is if you don't know Speedy the sticky materials that holds bricks and concrete blocks together. So you see Speedy Cal was kinda in the right ball park.

......he got those fluid feet from his time on the court. His foot speed was a solid attribute. He’s got his NFL strength and weight (6-5 @ 315 lbs) now. The Redskins thought enough of Geron to draft him in RD3 as a developmental tackle since arrived weighing around 298 lbs. As the RealJoker mentioned, injuries slowed his progress so......the Texans have a tackle that plays both sides but probably needs to be coached up. Hopefully the Texans coaching staff can help him see his potential.

Pitt made some great comments with Drew Dougherty recently. He is excited and pumped up. Said he likes this OL, bunch of mean nasty guys that want to run the football. Said he’s going to play with aggression. Maybe it’s me but I’ve never read these types of comments in the past. Sounds like everyone is fully embracing this competitive environment. Edit. This OL is going to be freaking huge.

For the first time in recent memory Texan fans can hope for better results from our OL coaching.

That in itself is huge. Guess we will find out now if our criticism of the previous Oline coach was warranted.idonno:

Teaching Tunsil how to count would be a good starting point. :D Five yard penalties have been hard to overcome lately.

I'm starting to get anxious. Guess all the changes have rekindled my enthusiasm.

I think these OL signings are ensuring that Taylor will only need to manage this offense, avoid turnovers, use his legs when needed, hit the open targets, and let this OL open holes for a running game that’s expected to hit early and often to keep defenses honest.

I believe the Texans will have some quality depth on the OL for the first time in their history. I hope I get to say.......I never thought I’d see the day the Texans had quality OL depth.

OL play is generally a lot better when they are running the football down their opponent’s throat. Much easier to attack driving off the line than defend pass blocking against huge hyper athletic DL.

I posted a video of Britt's presser a few days ago. He said he wants to run the ball. So someone asked him is that what the new offensive lines coach talk about. It’s a very strong possibility they will be a powerhouse running team. They beefed up that line and brought in two running back who runs between the tackles with aggression.

I looked at Texans management and the coaching staff and failed to find anyone named Britts. Who are you referring to?
 
Interesting signing. Since he was good enough to start the season for Washington, is he an upgrade over Heck, Johnson, or even Howard?

He was a superior prospect to Johnson and Heck coming out of college. We’ll see in camp if he’s the best among them now.

Howard is better than him and I expect him to make a huge jump with a new OL coach and Marcus Cannon upgrading RG.

I'm hoping they move Howard inside to LG. Howard's feet are slow. (Maybe due to injury) Cannon has proven to be a starter level RT on a SB winning team.

Yeah, his size I wouldn’t want him as my main RB.

I love his vision, his stop & go, his burst... & he seems to know how to make space with the angles he runs.
 
If there’s one thing that was consistent back in NE, it was always having a good offensive line. Caserio knows the importance of having an offensive line that can actually protect the QB. I’m good with Nick building the offensive line before going all in on a QB.
