Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

derekjeter_giftbasket.jpg

Hmm, lying on a resume gets you slapped with VP of Football Operations, what are the consequences for the others?

Well played.

Unprotected sex will give you a parasite you have to pay for on a monthly for the next 18 years. If you’re lucky it won’t any years after that.

Edit - replaced your with you’re. I am not an animal.

tou do know most rakes and assaults go unreported. I was 19 when it happen to me and I didn't go to the police and neither did any of the girls I know either because it was a popular football player or shame or fear or because it was assault but not vaginal rape. Women don't report. Someone you know and love has been assaulted and not reported I promise you but it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I agree.....but they possessed the will to seek a financial payout to keep quiet about the events. If there is truly a fear of the perp, I have a hard time thinking the victim suddenly has the fire to hit their perp up for a financial payoff but doesn't have the fire to go to the police. No one wants to wonder about this?

I have a daughter who I love dearly and would be devastated if something like this happened to her. Thank goodness my daughter fully understands that she can come to me in regards to anything and knows I would support her. I would not support her trying to get a financial settlement out of the guy. If the guy pays and she doesn't say anything....is she just as guilty for the next woman victim? If this guy is that bad....the police have to be involved to prevent this perv from expanding the victim list.

if your ever unlucky enough to

Because if those names were out against a sports celebrity they would be attacked and threatened-see Kobe when his attorney 'accidentally' leaked the names.
Also, Watsons defense is his Marketing Managers testimony. Yeah I'm going to need more than the word of someone your paying a bought a car for.
Based on the sentiment of this board "Texans" talk, I don't think DW would get preferential treatment. How would you defend yourself, if you didn't even know who was accusing you? "I didn't do it, but I don't know what I didn't do because I don't know who is accusing me." I think justice is better served when everything is out in the open and one side can't hide while attacking.

I think it's semantics. Surely you don't have a problem with her lawyer approaching Watson with the facts a a request for reparations?

It's basically the same thing. First she tried to do it herself, didn't work. She hired a pro.

Right. He'll find out everything he needs to know in due time.

But... he doesn't need to know who accused him to know what he's being accused of. It's spelled out in each filed complaint.

All he has to do is go back to his instagram DMs & find out who he went to for a massage, if he had a massage that day at all. Chances are that's who is filing the complaint.

But he does know what he is being accused of, there are complete details of what he is being accused of. In fact in a round about way you are saying that he needs to know who is accusing him because there could be so many potential ones he might not can keep them straight.

As was pointed out in an earlier article Watson’s team has dates of when the events were suppose to have happened and they should be able to use that to figure out the identities. If they truly can’t then it does mean Watson can’t keep them all straight and his team is worried they will misidentify one.

Also keep in mind we are talking civil suit here, if it goes criminal then he can face his accuser but as it is it’s still just money on the line.

I do not know how instagram works. If users are required to use their real name etc... then it should be fairly simple for DWs team to figure out who they are. If however you can use a "handle" like on this board it could be next to impossible at least on many of them. One of the things I would be looking for is if an accuser had sued a dozen other people in last couple years. Civil litigation has become a very lucrative industry in our country. I readily conceed that the results of many of these cases lead to great and needed changes in our society. But I would also think somone would be foolish to believe the system was never taken advantage of. I also think it would be naive to think as many cases have been filed that these are the only instances that DW had massages etc... We've already seen one lady come forward and state she had seen Watson on multiple times with no issues. The point being, as often as it may have occured, how in the world could Watson even remember all the details and which occasion they applied to?

I've been keeping up with this story since the beginning. I've been keeping up with this thread daily and listening to more sports radio than normal. The only thing (well, one of the only things) I think I know for certain about all this is that Watson likes to have sex with a lot of different women.

The other thing I know about this is that if the sexual assault accusations about Watson are found to be true, even one of them, my fandom for the Texans (and by default the NFL as a whole) is over. It's been chugging along on life-support anyway for several years, this will be enough to kill it for good.

I kind of sort of feel the opposite. I've made no secret of my feelings about this franchise and its cancers over the last 7 years and the league as a whole.

But if this is true about Watson and all those other puzzle pieces with Hopkins fit and O'Brien is no longer around and wielding unbelievable levels of unearned power, I sort of feel like this is just an era of the team and it's going to be banished to the ash heap of history and we'll be able to move on.

But I'm not sure. My love for the sport and league is definitely not what it was. So we'll see.

*looks at the details in the case* If none of that was particularly memorable for Watson then.....yeah .

I'm curious how many professional athletes have their massage therapists sign NDAs before giving massages.

It seems shady AF, but maybe it's a standard practice that regular folks like us don't know about.
It is not terribly unusual. BUT it is usually to protect any casual personal information discussed during the session............not to protect sexual activities between the 2 parties.

The picture they're painting, this could have been rather routine... for him. Especially if many of the ladies he saw included these types of activities on their menu and others didn't complain until the lawsuits started. I have not read any of the complaints just heard bits and pieces. If all the accusers stormed out at the time, of course my statement would be irrelevant.

Yeah you need to go read the complaints.

The lawsuit that could be most problematic for Deshaun Watson

Sixteen women have filed civil lawsuits accusing Deshaun Watson of varying degrees of sexual assault, putting the Houston Texans quarterback’s future in doubt. Watson has denied any wrongdoing in a general statement last week.

Amidst the pile of lawsuits though, one that was filed late Tuesday afternoon in Harris County, Texas, could prove to be the most problematic for Watson.

It includes a potential criminal act, possible physical evidence and multiple counts of contemporaneous reporting that experts say is critical in these kinds of situations. It also not only mirrors many of the other allegations, but potentially bolsters them due to the date of the act and the real-time reporting by the woman.

“This is clearly the one with the most credibility to it and clearly the one that could present criminal problems for Watson,” said Craig Mordock, a New Orleans-based attorney who frequently handles sexual assault defense and has also represented victims of sexual assault in both civil and criminal matters.

Much of Jane Doe 15’s allegations are similar to those by other women, each of whom Watson hired to provide massages. In May of 2020, she said Watson contacted her via Instagram seeking a massage that would focus on his “‘groin area’, his ‘glutes’ and his ‘lower abdominals.’ ”

Doe 15 was surprised that a famous NFL quarterback sought her out. She alleged that she informed him that she was a licensed personal trainer, not a massage therapist. She could help with post-workout muscle therapy, but “massages were not her specialty.”

I'm not trying to beat a dead horse, really just trying to understand how this works.
"Both individuals could be called to testify in either a criminal or civil claim."
This statement is from the expert attorney. So when they are called to testify at the civil trial, are they referred to as Jane Doe's mom and Jane Doe's friend? When they are sworn in, does it go, "Do you Jane Doe's mom solemly swear..."?

Regardless. He met the person. If he had a massage on the date included in the complaint, then that person he met for the “massage” is the person filing the complaint.

It wasn’t a virtual massage.

Matching up dates and names may be difficult if Watson engaged in more than 1 session per day..........which would not be unusual in the case of a sex addict.
Still, Hardin’s argument that not knowing his accusers is bull. Even if he had 98 massages, it narrows it down. & if there were so many that he can’t possibly narrow it down, that’s a problem for Watson.

We are exactly on the same page with this.

DW4's looking to change the NFL power structure is what lead to the NFL looking into DW4. He was a known philanderer. Who would've thought he was a sexual predator? (Allegedly)

Can we sacrifice ownership instead?

Philanderer? Sexual predator?

How do you know this isn’t just about a bunch of gold diggers wanting to cash in some single rich dude who likes to f’ck?

I dont know

I do know 26 is a pretty large number with probably plenty more to come.

If you're backing DW4, you're like the owner of a race horse that's leading coming down the stretch of the Kentucky Deby and falls and breaks his leg and has to be put down.

Seems like the over/under on that is around 4.5. When it got to double digits, it's hard for me to believe they are all lying. I thought it was kind of sorry how Hardin tried to smear all the others because of the one gal who they say tried to blackmail him.

16+ women alleging this dude did something untowards.....Might be able to pick off a few of them as birds looking for a pay day...but I think Hardin's gonna be hard pressed to fit all of them under that umbrella. I think once this gets to a grand jury & Hardin can't do that, the settlement talks won't be far behind.

Haven’t read the cases since early on, but among the first 9 or so the cases were 90% boilerplate and 10% small changes. One lawyer is preparing all the complaints and there is precious little difference from one to next. Does this make them more persuasive?

I‘m not “backing“ him. I’ve said from the get go that timing of this is suspicious, that’s all. And if you’re the least bit objective about it, it should be a little suspicious to you, too.

And for a more general question, why would any of you want to see anyone playing for your team if that person doesn’t want to play here? You’re talking about spite, certainly not loyalty.

Do they have grand juries for civil cases? Just askin.

I thought I made it clear I didn't want him here long before these allegations broke.

This has been going on for yrs. Does the timing really matter?

well OJ had other women he dated but didn't murder and Cosby had lots of other women he worked with and didn't rape and so did Weinstein and Nassar...

?????? in spite of spite he just voluntarily signed a 156 mil extension. In your universe does loyalty also apply to DW Or is this poor, downtrodden young man a victim of the worst evils. An uh uh uh don’t even mention social justice without describing the social justice he put into these women.

yes because it shows he has a pattern and each story corroborated the others. Most guys have a pattern for how they approach sex even if they think they don't. One guy I dated would always start with my ears, another would lay behind me on the coach, another would come up behind me and grab my boobs. The fact that each girl is recounting a similar story passes mustard as guys have sex patterns that they use over and over again.
