NFL Random Thought of the Day

Eagles' Coach's Home a 'Drug Emporium'
Philadelphia coach Andy Reid's two sons have been sentenced to jail.

Nov. 2, 2007 — -- A judge who sentenced Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid's sons to jail on Thursday likened the coach's home to "a drug emporium" and questioned whether his adult sons should live there.

"There isn't any structure there that this court can depend upon," Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neill said before sentencing 22-year-old Britt Reid to up to 23 months in jail plus probation.

"I'm saying this is a family in crisis," O'Neill said.

Earlier Thursday, O'Neill sentenced 24-year-old Garrett Reid, a drug addict and dealer who said he got a thrill out of selling drugs in "the 'hood," to up to 23 months in jail for smashing into another motorist's car while high on heroin.

O'Neill noted that searches of the Reid home found illegal and prescription drugs throughout the house. He said both boys had been overmedicated throughout much of their lives and that Britt got hooked on painkillers when he suffered a football injury in high school.

"It sounds more or less like a drug emporium there, with the drugs all over the house, and you're an addict," O'Neill told Britt Reid.

Andy Reid and his wife, Tammy, were in court but declined to comment. The judge said the parents clearly loved and supported their children and had tried many times over the years to get them help.

"Andy and Tammy are supportive of their son. That has been their position since this all began. He will not comment on it," Garrett Reid's defense attorney, Ross Weiss, said before the judge's comments.

Both Weiss and Britt Reid's attorney, William Winning, declined to comment after the hearing. Andy and Tammy Reid were quickly escorted by sheriff's deputies and their personal bodyguard through the courthouse basement.

Eagles players went about their practice routine Thursday without Reid, but he was on plenty of minds. The Philadelphia Inquirer said it was Reid's first missed practice in his nine seasons with the franchise.

"That whole fatherhood thing is something foreign to me right now, but my mom used to always tell me, 'You never know love until you have kids,' " tight end L.J. Smith told the Inquirer. "I know he loves his kids, and I know it hurts him a lot to see them go through what they're going through. He probably feels like right now is the best time to show them that he still loves them and he wants to be there for them."

Both sons lived at their parents' home in the suburb of Villanova at the time of their arrests.

Andy Reid took a five-week leave from the Eagles in the offseason to deal with his family's troubles. He has routinely declined to discuss his sons' legal problems but said he would not resign from the team because of them.

On Thursday, Britt Reid said he did everything without his parents' knowledge, but O'Neill questioned that.
THE REST OF THE STORY

******************************

Those who have grown up in Philly or KC know that Andy Reid and his wife have known all along about their family's universal drug problems............essentially condoning and promoting their home being used as a "drug den" and seller's market. This is why Reid has never had a problem with surrounding himself and covering up for real "bad boy" like Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill players and coaches like his son and Bieniemi...........just like he has always found important people that like money in order to cover up his own past and ongoing indiscretions.

Watching the Super Bowl, no matter how complex or creative the offensive scheme. Games are still won in the trenches. If you can rush the passer and apply pressure with 4, you can disrupt any offense. Great game plan and execution by the Bucs defense.
Don't disagree. But, as I stated right after Mahomes initially suffered his turf toe, it was a complete tarsal plate rupture.............he should have had surgery right after that. He wore a metal sole insert, but that would not compensate his problem. His preinjury mobility was noticeably compromised, to say the least. His ability to push off to the right and his ability to plant his lead foot was also virtually taken away. His few impressive passes were strictly because of his unusual Aaron Rodgers-like arm strength, as he could not use his lower body as throwing leverage.

Interesting, but I don't know how relevant. No QBs drafted in first round from 2009-16 are set to be on their original team in 2021.

2009: Stafford, Lions; Mark Sanchez, Jets; Josh Freeman, Buccaneers.

2010: Sam Bradford, Rams; Tim Tebow, Broncos.

2011: Cam Newton, Panthers; Jake Locker, Titans; Blaine Gabbert, Jaguars; Christian Ponder, Vikings.

2012: Andrew Luck, Colts; Robert Griffin III, Washington; Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins; Brandon Weeden, Browns.

2013: EJ Manuel, Bills.

2014: Blake Bortles, Jaguars; Johnny Manziel, Browns; Teddy Bridgewater, Vikings.

2015: Jameis Winston, Buccaneers; Marcus Mariota, Titans.

2016: Goff, Rams; Wentz, Eagles; Paxton Lynch, Broncos.

Pretty sure Dak Prescott was in the 2016 draft, and his status is TBD, but I bet he signs with the Cowboys.

There were 42 torn NFL ACL’s this year.............with essentially no OTA’s & no preseason games.........and with many players missing significant time for practices and games for COVID-19.

Total & (Regular Season):

2020 - 42 (33)
2019 - 34 (21)
2018 - 53 (24)
2017 - 52 (21)
2016 - 49 (27)
2015 - 50 (24)
2014 - 45 (23)
2013 - 63 (32)

The NFL is asking for a 100% increase in TV rights payments, but Disney is pushing back

The National Football League wants to charge its current network partners double what they’ve been paying to broadcast games — but Disney is pushing back, citing the high price tag for Monday Night Football.

-----------------------------

NBC, CBS and Fox are likely to accept increases closer to 100% than Disney, which is currently paying much more than the three broadcast networks for its Monday Night Football package, said the people, who asked not to be named because the negotiations are private.

What is that, 4 or 5 out of 22 that were average or better?

Yeah, we'll just trade Watson and get a replacement for him. Easy peasy.

Damn, how far have we fallen that we start to miss Rick Smith. lol :(
I never had a problem with Rick Smith. That’s not the same as saying I wish he was still here, or that I want him back.

His picks from round 4 to 7 may lack any productive products, but I expect the coaches to do more with developmental players. Players that need to be developed.

Former Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix, 29, found dead
By Douglas FarmerFeb 27, 2021, 8:53 PM EST

After being reported missing on Wednesday, former Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix III was found dead on Saturday. Nix was 29.

Nix had been missing in the Jacksonville area since Wednesday, last seen Tuesday. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office pulled a car from a pond near Nix’s apartment that matched his vehicle’s description on Saturday night.

Nix was shot in December during an attempted armed robbery at a gas station in Jacksonville, his hometown, as he put air into his car tire. The bullet to his chest left Nix in the hospital for nearly two weeks, and some of its fragments remained in his sternum and his left lung.

“I know it sounds cliché, but more than anything, I’m happy to be alive,” Nix said in mid-December to Eric Hansen of the South Bend Tribune.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not indicated the shooting is in any way related to Nix’s death.

RIP, Big Lou.

What? It was more than just "notoriety". Wilson has been unprofessional and immature. He might go done as the worst first round pick in Titans' history. When they needed help on the OL, they couldn't rely on him. While suspended, here he is partying. The guy is not mentally ready for the NFL and anyone taking a chance on him will be disappointed.

Has Any First-Round Pick Flamed Out as Quickly as Isaiah Wilson?

I guess there are no players in NFL history who turned their career around after getting a second chance?

The kid is obviously talented or he wouldn't have been a RD1 selection. I'd take an option on giving him a second chance b/c the worse that could happen....he doesn't mature and finishes derailing his career and the team cuts him or he decides to put his god-given talent on display to salvage his career and earns a profitable extension. It's not like the Texans are flush on OL talent.

Wow...Titans really wanted him gone
Wow that is a tremendous amount to give for an NFL player who many here have guaranteed us will never stand a chance.

Who is the head coach for the Titans again man he must be stupid!
