8 year olds running lemonade stands have better business sense than the McNairs. Is that what you're implying? If so, I agree with you.
Haha.... no.

but we aren’t aware of the things EVP of football operations normally do. It’s all behind the scenes.

Nick Caserio is our GM. What we see from the time he was hired has been Caserio.

Does anyone actually believe they won’t trade Watson, despite what Caserio says?
Everyone knows he'll be traded, there's a few left who want the Texans to take some kind of "make him sit" revenge, but that's just an emotional thing. He's 100% going to be traded.

When Watson's really had enough, he simply needs to turn up wearing a thobe and throw out a few Allahu Akbars. He'll be out the door faster than you can say "not a cultural fit".

For the good of the team, I hope the Texans are already planning on what to do with the haul of picks they'll get for him... assuming they don't McNair it up and wait until after the draft before realizing they can't keep him.

How could be anything but a distraction if they keep him. I don’t see that they have any other choice.
I think its possible they do keep him.

At this point it feels more a nonbudge out of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Id like them to smooth it out and Watson return happy, but I accepted awhile ago that Watsons mind seems made up and since trade seems to be the only beneficial option..... I just want to see the Texans get a lot for him.

That said, I think the Texans hold on to him as to not give the impression that "The inmates are running the prison." by forcing a trade.

Besides, no fan is expecting anything good for next season anyway so why not let a commodity sit on the bench for a year while you explore other players while you prove a point.... potentially in their eyes at least.

This offseason purports to be an offseason of unprecedented movement for a number of reasons & we've already seen a little of it with the Stafford/Goff trade. Wentz and Carr rumored to be on the block, Rodgers up in GB bitching & guys like Garappolo have been quietly on the trade block for a minute now. Some people in Miami are already ready to jettison Tua off for the chance to get a guy like Fields who is the more protoypical sized qb. I know the popular sentiment here is that Garapolo being a former patriot is most likely to be brought here if DW4 is traded, but truthfully at least a handful of other teams would probably love to have dude considering what they have is trash.......& Garappolo has at least been to a SB. Carr has shown flashes of being a very good qb but hasn't taken that next step that Raiders fans thought he would under Gruden. Wentz has looked awful and has lost alot of confidence in philly since coming back from injury, but a change of scenery might see him rebound to respectability to at least be a top end game manager ala Tanny. All of these guys are cheaper options than going after DW4. & while their ceilings aren't as high as his, they're still high enough that if put in the right situation, they could steer alot of qb needy teams to some pretty good success. I believe more than a few franchises that feel they are a qb away will have this thought process when looking at their options vs giving up their 1st borns to get DW4. They just may not want to gut their compete-ready teams & their future to acquire him.

So DW4 might very well want to be traded and is willing to sit out a whole year for it, but he just may be **** out of luck. His play has taken his price tag to astronomical levels & if noone wants to pony up anything close to what it will take.......oh well.

Also, The NFL isn't the NBA. NFL players are a different breed & more than a few understand that there's only 16 games in a season & you can't screw around. So If he came back and pulled "a Harden", alot of his NFL teammates would excoriate him in the media for quitting & selling the team out. It would just be better for him to sit the whole season out if he wasn't into playing for the Texans and they didn't trade him.

It's the most pragmatic choice at this point. His trade value is as high as it will ever be, and there are teams in position to make the deal very lucrative for the Texans.

I'd guarantee as soon as we approach Watson with a trade from the Jets or Dolphins he's going to invoke the NTC.

Until he comes to the table, until he waves the NTC, I wouldn't get too excited about a Watson trade. & if I were Caserio I'd continue to say we're not trading him because right now, you have nothing.

Daydreaming about all you could get is playing right into Watson's hands.

Failure is not an option
Yes. Unfortunately i do believe he will get traded. It‘s obvious Watson will soon be labeled a “non-cultural fit”, and they will try and get Zach Wilson, a true cultural fit, or least better than Watson.

You're right about the NTC. Until that part is waived - and who outside of Kirby actually knows the status of anything - the Texans have to stand their ground, as well.

Both sides could be perceived as having nothing (i.e. no leverage) in this stand-off until one side blinks.

My pragmatic comment assumes that both sides are reasonable.

I can’t figure out what the issue is enough to say whether they will trade him or not. Everything he has said to have an issue with was already there when he signed the contract so why have an issue with it now? Ok maybe he was unhappy about the Caserio hire, don’t know why but whatever, but almost every hire they have made since should have made him interested at least.

Assuming he wasn’t blowing smoke up everyone backside how do you go from thanking a team and saying they’ve made your dream come true to not even taking their calls in less than 6 months when most of that time you were on the field or in Cabo?

Watson can hold all the cards he wants....the draft will probably be defensive driven and therefore he can spend another season getting his arse slammed into the turf. I don't think Watson nor the organization have to announce Watson has waived his NTC.

The best chance the Jets having going for them is the #2 pick b/c I doubt they agree to include Williams in the deal. Next, they'll be giving up enough picks to allow Watson to change the color of his jersey and nothing else. So I don't really see Watson waiving his NTC to become a Jet b/c once he's aware of the cost for obtaining his services....he'll say no.

The team with the best chance and the assets to truly make a move that won't disrupt their current environment is the Dolphins. If they had Watson....2021 could've been a pretty special season for the Dolphins. Even if they make a play for Watson with a solid package of picks....they'll have enough left over to still add solid pieces in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 drafts.

The Texans would have the #3 pick this year. It ain't the #2 pick but it isn't chopped liver either. They could trade down and stock up on some more of those much needed draft picks.

If Watson is truly avoiding the Texans and feels more comfortable letting his feelings be known via Twitter...then come to the conclusion that it's time to move on and get a package of picks that allows the Texans to rebuild this organization now.
