Welcome to Houston Jack Easterby

Thanks man. Glad you're not still mad about that time you clicked on my signature and got Rick Rolled. :texans:
I could not understand why you would do something like that.
I was not pleased at all but God used it to work on me. Why did you change your name?

My username hasn't changed, just my avatar. I actually got that from one of Lance Zierlein's articles that he posted on April Fools' Day like in 2010. I felt pretty bad after it got you and changed it.

Sorry about that. God's done a little work on me too since then.

Easterby was promoted to EVP of Football Operations at the same time OB was promoted to GM...Typically that's a higher position on the food chain vs a GM. But who knows how the circus is ran on Kirby.

Oh Cal will either give him a higher job or something he makes up. Because Cal loves him. A GM is going to need to be promised that Easterby IS NOT having anything to do with the personal or anything connected to it. Even then, it's not going to be easy to get a good GM to want to risk it.

Wow! :handshake::clap:

I think Cal cleared that up quickly and most "news' was over reaction from fans as on here. We are burned so bad if someone flicks a Bic to light charcoal we :firehair:
Because people are guessing and have no idea what’s happening. We can all hope and root for something but ultimately have no control. I think Cal is going to make the right choices. Time will tell

Reading between the lines in bold, it's increasingly clear that key #Texans players want Easterby removed from NRG yesterday. Tension dating back to 2019 offseason clearly has not gone away. Yet again: What's McNair going to do and who is he going to listen to?

This is the kind of smoke that many would call a fire, but there are some here that just think it's granny burning the muffins again. lol

I'd better disclaimer the following as speculation lest the Easterby-boys jump me in his defense. :spy:

Time will tell about Easterby. I personally believe that he thinks that he's on the inside, but Caserio comes from an organization that will cut your ass for crossing lanes. Ol' Jack had better watch his back. Friends or not, a $5 million/year GM is not going to let him step on his toes.

Players ultimately matter more than some over-hyped & unqualified camp counselor. Question is, can Caserio actually fire Cal's new BFF? I personally think so. Caserio is Cal's shiny new toy now.

Also, right or wrong. Being the leader of the team, I think Watson wanted to bring the players' concern and perspective to Cal. It now appears that Easterby > franchise QB or team leader.

Easterby-deniers. He's not real, he's just a figment of our imagination.

“In addition, just the public Easterby to date has not been good. The role of a team chaplain and character coach is fundamentally a conflict from the role of a GM. “Please let me know how I can be here for you” conflicts with “I can trade you away if you have things in your life I don’t want for this team.”

So here's a snippet from Steph Stradlys, local attorney and part time journalist, take about the new GMs initial presser.
I dunno but reading this I keep thinking why couldn't the Texans owner be some kind of open-to-new-ideas, crazy, rebellious, out-of-the box type character like the late Al Davis instead of an extremely narrow-minded hard-core Jesus-freak family from the deep South ?
So you might want to check out Stradleys thoughts on that first press conference.

So why do we care what a lawyer and “part time journalist”, not even sure how that works, says? Not being a jerk to you but seems to me Chronicle could have gotten almost anyone on this forum and they could have gotten the same thing.

The problem with all this Easterby crap is that the people who matter most....& will matter once the HC is hired, is that none of them think he’s the threat that these media types are being led/fed info to believe he is.

& The parties who have arguably been effected by him the most....Brian Gaine, Bill O’Brien have all gone on with their lives.

What’s more is that Easterby has been as a quiet as a mouse.

These elements alone in the saga give you insight into what’s really going on.....& it has nothing to do with football so much as it’s office politics. Palcic’s underlings creating a media firestorm so as to say “see, if you had a really good VP of communications leader, they could help control this narrative..but alas, you fired her at the whim of Easterby for nothing.”

And whomever is the leak, they gotta understand that they’re doing more damage to the franchise than they are helping......that is, if their motivations are that they’re unhappy with the direction of the franchise and they see Easterby as the culprit for that direction.

if they truly care about this franchise and it’s direction they need to just stop or leave the organization. You took your shot, it has seemingly failed, now move on.

That fact that she is a lawyer and journalist means she is highly intelligent and communicates much better than most here. The fact that she is an avid Oiler/Texans fan and has written and documented the Texans from the beginning she is also a better informed Texans fan. When it comes to her Texans information I'm one of her biggest fans, when she is The Good Wife I'm not.

Her article reinforces my opinion of the Kirby Gulag. Caserio says this is not Patriots South. The only thing Caserio has known is the Patriots. My opinion of the Patriots Way is HEAD COACH Bill Belichick's DO YOUR JOB! The McNairs are not racists, they're THE ARISTOCRATS! The Houston Texans do not have an Easterby problem, they've a Cal McNair problem.

Because she used to be a regular here and was really well-liked and even had her own emoji?

Yep. She has been a great ambassador for the Texans, as well, often bridging the gap between fans and players. Players recognize her, she's very friendly and intelligent, so she can often obtain some insight that reporters and fans simply cannot.

She's still a mod on this forum but she rarely makes an appearance these days. Too much bickering for her to deal with.

I didn't know Bill but I know he's well thought of in here. RIP Bill

Man, I still don't know how I was on the HTs official board for like 18 years and never knew about this board. This is a better board and better members IMO.

Crazy part is this board's early history is actually from the official board. Many of the long-time mods (myself included) were picked when this was the official board, before it was merged with Texans Talk. Fortunately, Hookem appreciated our efforts and invited us over here.

You can have our Smilies when you pry them out of our cold, dead hands.

That was a crazy time.

I will stand my ground. The Texans organization is known for wasting players careers. Since Jack Easterby has walk into the building nothing good has happened in/for the organization and for some reason someone can’t seem to see what’s going on. Pathetic!!!

We traded oz for a 2. Clowney for a 3. Hopkins for used toilet paper.

Those might all be in the top 5 worst nfl trades ever.

Surely we have at least 1 guy in management with some sense? Dude needs to speak up.

Dang, well those words certainly carry some weight considering the source.

What is so freakin' special about Jack Easterby that Cal McNair is willing to sacrifice the goodwill his daddy built in this city?

Seriously, there is nothing special about Jack, but the ownership seems incapable of seeing the optics of it all.

If Jack really is or is not the things he's accused of is irrelevant at this point. He's dead weight to this franchise and is not worth the effort of protecting him.
