Of course it's going to be the HC decision. & the HC is going to be the GM's decision.

But, since draft day 1 & 2 speculation doesn't capture our interest as it had in seasons past, I thought maybe coaching staff speculation might generate some interest.

So here is a list of lower coaches who will be looking for a job in a few hours, see anything you like?

Right or wrong, I’ve always felt that Sean Ryan was a significant contributor to Watson's rookie performance. After every series, he was on the bench communicating with Watson. After he left, there were too many occasions where Watson comes off the field and the QB coach is nowhere to be found. We didn't hear talk about Watson regressing until he left the staff.

One other point, he left because he knew O'Brien would never give him the opportunity to be OC.

No & No. Tell me their success stories? Two prime examples of the GOB system.
I don't want them as HC. I want experienced coaches on this staff. Especially if Cal hires a first time HC. Koetter has coached good offenses during his career. That's more success than we have seen from this current bunch.

"In 2019, Koetter returned to the Atlanta Falcons as the offensive coordinator after spending the previous four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His offense finished in the top five in total yards (5th), passing yards (3rd) and fourth-down conversion percentage (4th). QB Matt Ryan finished the season with 4,466 yards, including 11 300-yard games, a new franchise record, and tied for the third-most 300-yard games in a single season in NFL history.

During Koetter's first year with the Bucs in 2015, he oversaw the NFL's fifth-best offense and rushing attack, while also coaching the league's second-leading rusher in Doug Martin, who rushed for 1,402 yards and six touchdowns. Koetter also had a chance to begin molding then-rookie quarterback Jameis Winston in 2015. During his rookie season, Winston accounted for 28 total touchdowns (22 passing, six rushing) and threw for 4,042 yards, which were the second-most in a single season in team history and the third-most by a rookie in NFL history.
In 2016, Koetter became the 11th head coach for the Buccaneers and in his first season, he led Tampa Bay to a 9-7 record, the team's most wins since 2010 and the second-most wins by any coach in their first season with the Buccaneers. Over three seasons as head coach, Koetter still guided the offense, leading them to the NFL's best passing attack – 294.4 yards per game – and the sixth-best total offense – 375.1 – over that period.

Huh? His d-lines have been atrocious. I'm wondering how he got a NFL job in the 1st place.
I think you're confusing the DL with DB. Falcons D was 7th against the rush, top 10 in sacks but last in passing yds. And they had a makeshift band aid defense. One look at the defense depth chart and you see why Dimitroff was fired.

The next 30 or so days are gonna be the longest. I suppose they ain’t signing the new GM and HC until after the playoffs and quite possibly after the Super Bowl.

Tom Herrman is not busy at the moment
Herman needs to suck it up, get in his finest groveling clothes, and beg the Cougars to take him back....or go next door and knock on Rice's door. If he could take the Owls up the ladder, his phone would be blowing up again.

So who is your GM, HC, OC, DC?
I can't get the Ozzie Newsome dream out of my head. I think Deshaun articulated what I'm thinking.

"We've all got to be on the same page," Watson said. "There's too many different minds, too many different ideas and too many people thinking they have this power, and it's not like that. We need someone that stands tall, and this is who we follow and this is the way it goes."

Another brilliant idea.

"Watson said Monday that he talked to Texans CEO Cal McNair on Sunday to discuss the open roles, expressing interest in offensive coordinator Tim Kelly potentially returning next season after the quarterback's career-best season."

Texans might have the most underwhelming coaching staff in the league .... Only one earning his money is Tracy Smith.

He says they need discipline.
Agreed

But wasn't BOB brought in to be a disciplinarian, because Kubiak supposedly was to soft.

I'm oK with DW4 having thoughts but he should have no say in who gets hired as GM/HC. We both know Cal listens to DW4 and is going to hire who DW4 wants. Whatever could go wrong.

Herman burned the bridges so bad the way he left UH that they would go 0 for the next 50yrs before they would take him back. It wouldn't stun me for him to end up at Rice, but I think he takes a P5 OC job and tries to rehab his rep into getting another head coaching job.

We have no idea what cal thinks. Hearing his QB is perfectly acceptable. You don’t need to listen to his every word but you need to have conversations about what they need. It’s what a leader does.
