Final three games

I am a Dolphin fan. Sorry about your season, but as a fin I have been there. Don’t think you guys were ever 1-15 like we a few years ago.
Anyway I am interested in your thoughts on your last three games and yours(now ours) first round pic position.
I also looked at some of your threads. Do I understand Watt is worth only a 3rd or even 4th? I would give much more than that.

Lol.
Hopefully, sorry, you will lose to the colts and Titans. Can’t see you losing to the Bengals. That is 5-11. At least it improves your later round pics.
I used the ESPN Playoff Machine to estimate the final records of all teams. The top 8 in draft order was:

1. Jets 0-16
2. Jags 1-15
3. Bengals 2-10-1
4. Falcons 4-12
5. Chargers 5-11
6. Panthers 5-11
7. Dolphins (from Texans 5-11)
8. 49ers 5-11

The Texans would be in a 4 way tie and have the 2nd highest SOS. But since the draft order rotates, the Texans would be the 1st of the 5-11 teams to draft in the 3rd round, selecting 69th. The Texans got a starter at #68 in the 2018 draft, so there is hope.

As a reminder, the Texans will have 8 draft picks in 2021.

(1) 3rd
(2) 4ths (Texans, Cardinals)
(1) 5th
(2) 6ths (Texans, Saints)
(2) 7ths (Texans, Cowboys)

Four of those eight are 6th and 7th round picks, which aren't much better than UDFAs. It's a crap draft, but I do agree there might be a little hope IF we get a decent GM and HC.

Welcome to the board and if you have any input with your general manager let him know that we would reluctantly trade JJ Watt for the second round pick 08.

Bill Belichick might not agree with you this season. :fingergun:
If you got mostly crap for players, no amount of coaching is going to change that. It might help some, but in certain cases it won't make a bit of difference. Does anyone really think that with the Texans core players, limited help from the draft and free agency, that simply changing coaches will make that much of a difference in 2021? I can see, with the right administration, the Texans making a very nice rebound into the playoffs and being serious again in 2022, but not in 2021.

I agree. I don't expect to be competing for the playoffs in 2021. I do hope to see a competitive team, though, and one that is following some kind of path toward success.

Not gonna' lie, though, with #4 anything might be possible with the right front office and coaching staff. I just won't expect it so soon.

I hope. Honestly, though I hate Bill O’Brien I think 2020s offense is the most talented bunch of guys we’ve had in a long long time. Granted, he paid too much.

But things being as they are I see no way we can keep the band together.

Still, I think the NFL is weak right now. Not just the AFC South, the AFC/NFC East, but the NFL in general. 7 playoff teams & two of them are going to be bad teams. Three, if you have a weak division like the NFC East.

So while I don’t expect magic or miracles, decent coaching can make us competitive in 2021. Not Super Bowl contenders, but competitive.

As a hope with some attached realism, I'll go with competitive. In that with the right coaching staff our offense could really do a lot, but our defense just can't get fixed in one offseason. There are to many holes in the defense that need patched to do it this coming offseason, whereas the offense with some good scheming could lay down a lot of points on your average defense. Our trillion dollar QB needs a defense as much as he needs an offensive line.

The B and C teams are starters. They're getting plenty of tape.

Lots interest in Watson's new cheese steak restaurant opening with 7 or 8 Texans players showing up. Dashaun Insisted that they observed NFL instructions on gatherings however photos show several without masks and More Than The Limited number the NFL allows at public events. A similar occurrence with Raiders led to $15,000 each fines for players.
This was not smart.

Another Hot Topic on radio is sitting number 4 for the remainder of season to protect him. I don't see that happening.

They've gotta get 2021 right (Cleaning House) to help set themselves up for 2022 or probably 2023. Even at that with the Jags/Colts and maybe even the Tacks are going to be getting much better.

If I was a GM I would rather take the Jets job with Lawrence and a boatload of picks (Even though I'm not totally sold on Lawrence (Clemson offense) but give me the Jets boat load of picks over the Texans GM job if I'm a prospective GM. Jags Job, same thing, ATL, which job would you rather have? (2 HOF'ers in the division retiring soon and you have a pretty good team in place and high draft picks)

Detroit is the only job I would put below the Texans job.

Where's his new restaurant located?

I hope I can read the menu faster than he can read defenses.

Yeah Houston QUITTERS on unis will look good and we can get rid of that silly Bull on the helmet and perhaps replace it with a pair of testicles with a line drawn through them!
We should be used to being nationally ridiculed.

He let somebody talk him into the wrong kind of restaurant. That will fail where a conventional steak house would succeed.

I am very torn for this game.

I NEVER want to root against my team, but a loss this week has a higher potential of hurting the Titans with a loss than hurting the Dolphins with a win.

It would ultimately be a meaningless win.... but I still have a hard time rooting for the L.

Here is to hoping we kill the Colts driving them to go undefeated the rest of the way and the Titans drop 2.... one of them being to us.

I want the Texans to win.....I also want the Texans to lose. Like the better draft position starting in RD3 than a meaningless win.

I want Watson to play great.....I don't want Watson on the field at all. Watson is a big time competitor and in no way would agree to sit. Colts defense could be swarming after a short separation between games. Texans OL didn't get better and Devlin didn't get craftier.....this OL sucks arse and it would be horrific if Watson suffered an injury that forced him to miss next season. Talk about taking a pith on hiring a GM/HC worth a shite.

I'd love to see the defense and OL play great.........duck, that's like wishing in one hand and shiteing in the other.....dammit, dammit, dammit, I know which one's going to fill up first!!!!!!

Texans.....be smart, play it safe, and do the absolute best to set the table for 2021 and 2022. If the game gets out of control early, sit the assets, Watson, Watt, and Cooks. The team will get one opportunity to get their next step right.

Im gonna hold off and see who the next GM HC is before I believe the sky is falling.

As far as Miami goes...... I have a Bud Adams level of class and sophistication in order to respond to them.... not forever.... just until they spend our first round pick...... *walking off mumbling in frustration .."taking advantage of our mentally challenged ex GM/HC.... I hope its a bust... grumble grumble"......*

The hiring process is key. We have the talent on offense to be competitive enough to compete for a playoff spot. We won’t be super bowl favorites next season but competitive. Our defense needs help on the back end bad. I think an infusion of new energy and coaching will propel this team. Will It be sustainable?

I cannot imagine Watson wanting to sit. BTW, nice boat.

Does not need to look fierce, just go back to the old logo and everything will be just fine.

The new logo looks like it belongs on a shampoo bottle, not on a football helmet. I'm sure Larry Csonka does not approve of the new look.

Out of all of the different Dolphins logos used.. I like the one they had from 1997-2012 the best.

The one they're using now is polling dead last.

As a kid I was a dolphins fan because I liked their colors and logo best. Had a thick coat with the 89-96 logo that I loved so much I cried when I out grew it so for me that one has fond memories.
I had one of those Love ya Blue columbia blue jacket with the the oil derrick logo on the chest. I loved that thing, until the sleeves started cracking & everyone knew it was fake leather.

I've lost all my Oiler memorabilia. But I still have some Gambler stuff.
Jim Kelly was on NFL Radio this morning (for me) with Brett Favre. I was at a Gamblers game when Kelly torched the Memphis Showboats for 500 yards (or close enough) in the first half. I was hoping they'd let him play the 2nd half so he could obliterate the professional football record for most yards passing in a single game. I think he could've gone for 900+ yards had they left the foot on the pedal. If memory serves me....Reggie White was a MS DE who played that night.

Did Kelly give update on his throat cancer? The last I heard Midsummer this year it had returned and he was in pretty fragile shape

He seemed to be in great spirits. He was telling some good stories and just laughing at other stories. His voice was really rough and it seemed to be tough for Favre since he considered Kelly his hero. Kelly offered a lot of insight on the current Bills team.

That's loser thinking. Loser mentality. If you're not doing everything it takes to win when it "doesn't matter" chances are you have no idea what to do when it does.
No I have played the game and sure if you don't try it is thinking like a loser. But, if the game means little. Let some of the younger guys get reps. Let them see how it is. They should be trying to win. However, some might be good or better than what we have seen. Some might have only one shot to show they can play before a new HC and GM rip the team apart to rebuild it. And if any of those players are let go and are good...well we have seen other teams sign our own cast off players. Only to beat us with them the next season. Let's see what they have

I want to see Kahale Warring & Isaiah Coulter with Watson throwing them the ball. Lined up with Cooks & Akins on the field & our 5 best OL blocking.

no one needs film of AJ McCarron

That would be nice to see. That's what I was saying. Not to rest everyone who is labeled as starter. But to let some of the other younger guys show what they have. AJ can play, but only if we are checking O lineup stuff. I don't think you can really see what some can do vs your D. I mean Foster was a no name...but boy was it good he got some play time. Or we could have lost him.
