JJ weighs in on the Hopkins trade.

Catches your eye like a train wreck. O’Brien will lose this team if he keeps this up. If he has not already.

You negotiated with the wrong person......should've got OB on the phone. Deal probably gets knocked out in 15 minutes with OB throwing in a -0- interest loan as well.
Well-- if it happens I am telling all of you on this MB I ain't putting up with any complaining about my decisions. And BTW? Ticket prices going up along with concessions. And nobody makes ridicule of my trade proposals or I'll just make them without telling any of you. Now don't get upset, I am firing OBrien and Devlin & trading all remaining draft picks for next three seasons to get Hop back. I am going to be Owner/Gm but hiring Dabo Sweeney.

Worth a shot. Can’t be any worse than it is now.

2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
Me.....I'd go about it with a completely different plan of attack. So, I've suddenly bought the Texans b/c the lottery went well above multiple billions of dolllars and I'm suddenly swimming in cash. Moves:

1. Hiring Bill Polian as my mentor since I really know nothing from an inside situation. Got to be humble. I'd tell Mr Polian the following, "when you're talking, I'm listening, when I'm listening I'm learning......and when I'm learning I'll keep my mouth shut". By the way, I never fear learning, I learn fast but under no circumstances would I let Polian leave my side for a maximum of 3 seasons.

2. I'd hire a young GM to mold the future Texans. Enter Eliot Wolf and his Assistant GM Alonzo Highsmith. Both of these men are excellent talent evaluators and would be needed to re-shape the Texans. I would get them both on board with the following move.

3. Hire Dabo Sweeney as HC and let him build a top rated staff that's capable of coaching up players and instuting a true team atmosphere that works from the top down.

4. Here comes the tough pill. I'm trading every possible asset....including Watson. I'd really like to out position the Jags who just might be doing the same thing to secure the number one pick and QB, Trevor Lawrence- Clemson. I'd make 2021 and 2022 drafts the years to build this organization.

5. Essentially, I'm executing a Crane plan of attack and hopefully in 2023....these bold moves will hopefully bear fruit along with the addition of some solid but affordable FA's.

6. 2024 would be the year to add top tier FA talent to fill need areas in total pursuit of a Lombardi Trophy for the City of Houston.

7. Last bold move.....introduce a new look by 2023. Teams always seem to jump the season new uniforms are rolled out. Hence the crazy coincidence of TB rolling out new uniforms and the Brady / Gronk arrival. The uniform change couldn't be a half-arse effort either.....it's a big bold move or nothing.

Loving it.

Someone should make a new thread "What I would do if I suddenly became owner of the Houston Texans".

If you asked Dabo I'd bet he tells you in private he'd rather coach Watson over Lawrence.

Nah, too logical and makes too much sense. What you trying to do put fans into shock? Can you imagine trades I can come with? Any players you keep? I am not locked into any of them.

Man that's hard to say......b/c both have given Dabo a CFB Championship. TL did it as a true freshman and may have another chance to add one more. I really like TL's attributes which I see as a combination of both Mahomes and Watson. Is it just me or does TL look a lot like Jim Kelly? Maybe he's a combination of all 3.

Dabo takes good and makes them not only great college stars but players that translate into NFL.

Lawrence has chance to be better than Watson, Mahomes or Joe Burrows. Watson and Lawrence two different types and Sweeney coached up both of them to Championships before their senior year.

He's a great talent. I think its important to remember that as a true freshman there wasnt much tape on him. Its not that big of a surprise when I saw him struggle a bit more this year. He has all the tools, but I wonder how he will perform with a bad OLine? I'd tag him with the same 'read and recognition' issues Deshaun was tagged with coming out until he can show me that he CAN read and deliver the ball vs any defense. When I watch his tape I see him key in on a single receiver most of the time, not working through the progression, but that could just be a byproduct of the offensive system there at Clemson and what the QBs are taught to do. Where Deshaun pulls away for me is in the intangible category. Delivering balls with his eyeball poked, spinning out of multiple tackles to make the game winning play. The stuff you just cant coach.

Lawrence should do well at the NFL level - and if Watson were not here - he would be a QB that I could definitely rally behind.

I dont think he's going to be better than Burrow, Burrow is extremely accurate and played in a pro style offense. Of course Burrow has to play for Cincy so there is that.

Certainly not a ban worthy post.

That youngster finally had one good year and now he’s the most accurate quarterback to ever played in college. The man hasn’t even played one freaking down in the NFL. Dude get off the gas already
