XFL Revival?

Cut the cord years ago. 99% of anything I care to watch is available on either Netflix or Amazon. My HBO subscription is through Amazon. And I'm about ready to cut Netflix, they've run out of stuff I want to watch. I may drop Netflix and add Youtube or something. Any subscription service I get for the XFL games is only for as long as the XFL is in season anyway.
Same here YouTube Roku Fire apps and internet goes here and for years. 3 roof antennas 3 directions one is just for 2 channels 70 mile range for Frederickburg. I would say for just XFL slingtv has the best low price option. 2 months would do the trick.

I assume you are a cord cutter like me. I'm thinking about SlingTv. i had it a long time ago. right now til feb 12 its $5 first month its a slingtv anniversary. It has ESPN and FS1. I think its the blue package.
I had a bad experience with sling TV a few years ago. Couldn't get it to work and a customer service Lady did not know what she was doing. She kept putting me on hold for several minutes to ask her supervisor what to do. She would not let me speak to the supervisor. After an hour and approximately 45 minutes, I told her just to cancel everything. She said please hold on and I hung up. I could not. Give away the Roku device.

That was quick.............The Wildcats already announced that they have fired defensive coordinator Pepper Johnson...........no replacement yet.

I saw a huge fat man on the field for more than one play. Perhaps it was another fat man.

I forget which game it was, and it might have been in two games, but I saw a few very overweight linemen that would never make an NFL team. If they're effective in the XFL, I guess that's OK. I think I remember one really huge guy taking down our QB and landing on him. That had to have hurt. LOL

Only Number 62 on Wildcats roster Is a black offensive guard? Dwayne Wallace. The guy I thought I saw was a white defensive lineman; wierd.

I have had nothing but a great experience with our 3 Rokus and 2 Firesticks for several years. As far as Slingtv I subscribed once few years ago for 3 months had no problems.

Really wish I was in Houston to support the XFL and the Houston Roughnecks. I'll have to wait before I can check them out. I only hope McMahon's business model allows for slow but steady growth so the league could remain in tact for a couple seasons before expanding.....by maybe 4 new teams. I'd really like to see a 5 year plan where they'd like to have 16 teams split into 2 conferences and 2 divisions. The sky's the limit if they can stay solvent for 5 years. McMahon is a solid businessman......hope he can build this league like he has his wrestling and movie ventures.

We’re already talking a 4th preseason NFL game talent pool with what they’ve got. Too many teams more than that is really going to thin it out.

If they leave it small and eventually work with the NFL as a developmental league, I think it lasts for a while. It’s only been 1 week but the interest seems to be there. Dilute the talent pool any more than it is, that might kill it.

After the dismissal of their DC..........

It looks like the XFL teams understand the importance of presenting and maintaining a quality product.

Find that interesting considering Moss is suppose to be a defense Guru and his main draft picks were defense guys. In fact their QB had only been on the team what like two weeks when the game started? Meh, its not the Roughnecks so its not our problem.

McMahon has said that he has set aside enough money to keep the league going for 3 years just on his investment alone. In addition they should be able to keep the TV deal with Fox, ESPN and ABC because those are all owned by Disney and he has major ties to those stations through the WWE. In fact they just signed a 1 billion dollar deal with Fox to broadcast WWE programming. He seems to have done a lot of maturing in the last 20 years, when the first XFL was introduced WWE was still in its "attitude era" and it was sex and violence that was selling so he thought that would sell football to.

I think he's playing it smart this time by letting guys like Oliver Luck be the face of the league and him staying a mostly silent partner. Luck has the respect and credentials so that its not just dismissed as a gimmick right off the bat. Another smart thing they are doing is most of the player contracts are for only 1 year so that afterwards they can sign with another team or league if they want. This will give players that believe if they could just get some reps to show off then they could get on an NFL team. Hell even the Houston QB said that he is here to get reps because he never did in the NFL and so he never got considered for a starter job. It maybe a pipe dream but its one that gives them a way to make money playing and gives us a better on field product.

Success of the league should hopefully bring more qualified applicants to the XFL. Viewership will allow advertisers to put more money into it also.

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere, but much better than "It's football time in Houston".

How Andrew Luck helped P.J. Walker land in Houston for XFL

John McClain , Houston Chronicle Feb. 14, 2020 Updated: Feb. 14, 2020 12:13 p.m.

When XFL commissioner Oliver Luck was assigning quarterbacks for the league’s inaugural season, he told his attorney, “Get that Indianapolis quarterback for Houston.” Rather than Andrew Luck, the Roughnecks got P.J. Walker.

Luck laughs when telling the story. He knows there was no way his son, Andrew, would come out of retirement to play for his hometown team. Pop couldn’t afford him, anyway.

But Andrew Luck did play a significant role in Walker joining the Roughnecks and coach June Jones and becoming the XFL’s first Star of the Week after throwing four touchdown passes in their 37-17 victory over Los Angeles at TDECU Stadium.

Walker, 24, played at Temple University for coach Matt Rhule. He signed with Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent in 2017. Walker spent two seasons on the Colts’ practice squad and got to know Luck.

“Andrew had been pushing him to me,” Oliver said. “He said, ‘Dad, I’m telling you, this guy can play. He’s a good kid and a hard worker, and he’s hungry to play.’

“June had the list of quarterbacks. He and (personnel director) Randy (Mueller) had scouted him. I was delighted they wanted P.J. Ultimately, that’s the kind of guy that’s perfect for our league and perfect for June because he fits June’s system so well and has a chance to play and prove himself.”

When pursuing quarterbacks — as well as other positions — Luck offered XFL prospects an opportunity to play. He was the president of NFL Europe when the league had success luring quarterbacks with ambitions to earning starting jobs in the NFL.

“We gave that same opportunity back then to quarterbacks like Kurt Warner, Jake Delhomme, Jon Kitna and Brad Johnson,” Luck said. “We offered them playing time, and they took advantage of it.”

Jones knew all about Walker. When he was the head coach at SMU in 2013, the Mustangs hosted Temple, a conference rival. Rhule was in his first season of rebuilding the program, and Walker was a freshman starter.

“He played against us, and I was so impressed,” Jones said.

In SMU’s 59-49 victory, Walker threw for 293 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.

“He was off the charts,” Jones said. “After the game, I went over and introduced myself to him and told him I thought that was as good as I’d seen an 18-year-old play. I told Matt I thought this kid was going to be a great one.”

When Walker was eligible to be drafted, no team called him. At 5-11 and 214 pounds, he had practice squad offers, and signed with the Colts.

“He was my No. 1 choice and Randy’s No. 1 choice when the league was assigning quarterbacks from a pool of players,” Jones said. “Spending all that time on the practice squad has helped him learn to play the game.”

Besides Jones, Walker is tutored by offensive coordinator Chris Miller, who played quarterback for 10 years in the NFL and was a quarterback coach. Dan Morrison is a longtime college quarterbacks coach who’s on his third team with Jones.

“He’s had two months of learning here, and he’s getting better every day,” Jones said. “P.J. applies himself because he wants to be good.”

Against Los Angeles, Walker completed 23 of 39 for 272 yards to go with his four touchdowns. He was intercepted once.

“I’d liked everything I’d seen of him, but you can't really tell until you get in a game,” Jones said. “He’s a good leader. His teammates respond to him and rally around him. If he gets whacked in the mouth, everybody feels bad.

“I like his demeanor. Nothing bothers him. He’s a real competitive player, and to do what we want him to do, you can’t have a conscience. And he’s got about as good an arm as anybody I’ve coached. The ball comes out fast with velocity, and he’s learning to be more of a touch passer.”

THE REST OF THE STORY

This league, if it really wants to build it's brand needs to have instant flew scheduling where they can showcase their best teams on network television..

Tampa Bay and Seattle are dumpster fires. Dumbass team names too lol

If the University of Miami and Auburn got together and crapped out a football jersey, it would be Seattle's.. and what's up with that logo? It looks like a bad tattoo you'd get at 3:00 in the morning. Lol

Even though Seattle is a division rival, it still put a smile on my face to see Jim Zorn's Dragons win their home opener. I guess I should have been rooting for them to lose, but I just couldn't. LOL

Bad quarterbacks a big problem for the XFL
The XFL’s first weekend was a success, with solid TV ratings and generally favorable fan reactions to the upstart league’s innovative rules. Week 2 of the XFL is a different story.

Two more XFL games were played on Saturday, neither of them was compelling, and both of them suffered from bad quarterback play. The quarterbacks playing in the XFL right now just don’t look capable of delivering the kind of football that modern fans have grown accustomed to watching.

Obviously, no quarterback who’s good enough to start in the NFL is going to play in the XFL. But for its games to be entertaining, the the XFL at least needs quarterbacks who are able to play well against XFL defenses. And currently, the XFL doesn’t have enough of those quarterbacks.

Through six XFL games, there still hasn’t been a quarterback with a 300-yard passing performance. And XFL quarterbacks have collectively thrown as many interceptions as touchdown passes. In the NFL last season there were almost twice as many touchdown passes as interceptions. Football fans enjoy the quarterback-driven game that the NFL has become, and the XFL isn’t able to provide that.

Zero surprise here at all, but ya..
