Anybody know why crowning Obrien as king is a good idea?

It never ceases to amaze me how the same thing can be said over and over............in so many ways..........in so many threads.
The Texans officially naming a GM is big news around here. It would have been nice and clean had there been just one thread devoted to the subject but what are you gonna do? Besides that, O’Brien is probably the most polarizing sports figure in Houston right now. We’re going to talk about him.

How do you hold a man accountable who cannot field a productive offense?

How do you hold a man accountable who cannot advance past the second round in the playoffs?

How do you hold a man accountable who cannot adjust a game plan that blows a 24 point lead and gets blown out by 30?

How do you hold a man accountable who cannot execute basis time management in the 4th quarter?

How do you hold a man accountable who makes asinine decisions in the playoffs like trying a fake punt from his own 30 yard line?

How do you hold a man accountable who lines up JJ watt at running back in a playoff game?

You give him even more responsibility and power with an additional title.

as much as I despise BoB as HC, my contempt for Cal McNairs lack of leadership is greater. I love our players but This organization is a joke and it starts with ownership and trickles down to the fat Travolta HC/GM/Ahole

True, how long after the SB do they wait to send out the season ticketholder reup letters?
I already called and told my ticket rep I wanted my money back for that 2nd playoff game. All I got was, "ok, is your credit card info still the same?" Heck, even the ticket reps don't care why you're not reupping. Thousands of folks waiting in line for season tickets.

Yep,

Must be a great job to have.

Or Kubiak's kids

Or any HC in the NFL.
Not sure what Kubiak has to do with anything. . . :um: Let it go, man

You need to watch more NFL news than just the Texans.

There are many other head coaches willing to say a lot more than the mundane mumbles that emanate from O'Brien's mouth every week.

I absorb NFL news from a variety of source daily, and I can straight up tell you that there are coaches like Andy Reid and Sean Payton that will give a lot more insight than the belligerent BS that O'Brien puts out there. O'Brien is surly and arrogant at his press conferences. John McClain said he's one of the worst HCs he's had to cover in many decades of being an NFL reporter. And he's not the only member of the press to notice it.

Honestly, I'm a little surprised that the Houston Texans, Inc. marketing empire allows it, but clearly "Texans worthy" died with Bob. It is what it is.

O'Brien has never had much insight to add. You'd think it's because he doesn't want to reveal anything but it's probably because he doesn't know anything. Other coaches and GMs regularly give insightful answers

That and I think he believes he's Darth Belichick, but without any of the related success, of course. Cal seems to believe it, too, so that's all that matters.

The guy can't even build a top 16 offense in 6 years and gets promoted every year
Makes me want to put in my resume to the Texans organization.

Screw hard work and dedication for years and years to climb up the ranks.

Show up for the position of water boy, drool in your own lap during the interview and you will be promoted on the spot and before you know it a year later, CEO.

Where do I apply?

I wonder if my experience in healthcare will qualify me as a doctor on staff? Can't do much worse.

The point is most HC's say the reason they lost was on them. They just say it in different ways. Some fans just dont like BOB's northeast coach speak vs Kubiak's coach speak. Which is perfectly understandable. But they're really delivering the same message.

I like the way BOB treats the press ask a stupid lazy question and you get what you get. What do you expect from BOB? He learned from the master, Belichick.

Hopefully the phrase Not Rexans Worthy died with Bob McNair and the Texans can start playing on a level playing field. Look at the Chiefs at one time they had Hunt/Hill/Kelce and many more players they drafted with character issues and they're playing Sunday.

To bad he didn’t learn clock management or game planning. Who cares if the only thing he got from the master is how to be a dick.

I don't get it. Obrien was officially made the general manager, coach, offensive coordinator, play caller, contract specialist, draft appraiser, etc., etc., etc. and given more power than any coach on any NFL club in existence. It appears completely contrary to the supposed goal of an NFL team that is attempting to win a Super Bowl. We are a laughingstock to the rest of the country. Does anybody have a valid reason why this a good idea?
Of course it was a terrible idea but he didn't crown himself. I stopped trying to figure out what the owners see in this slug Obrien. I don't think this team will win a superbowl anytime soon with this outdated incompetent coach.

I'm not that ambitious. I don't want to be CEO. Instead I want to head the data analytics department. Besides the pay, my only other requirement is to get a buzzer like Altuve's but with a bigger electrical shock. That way, I can give O'Brien a buzz/jolt when he keeps running behind his weak blocking center against stout run stopping defenses.

One buzz to stop running dive plays. Two zaps to tell him stop calling shotgun plays. If he calls that idiotic WR screen, it's a long press while Tim Kelly pours a bucket of Gatorade on his head. Why did I pick Tim Kelly? Because he doesn't have anything to do on game day.
