No Freaking Way

Look at it this way. Do you think for even an instant that Butt-Chin would have the first clue who to hire to replace Crennel? Just imagine the idiot sock puppet he'd bring in to do that job.

It would make Kubiak's search for a DC look like the rebuilding of the Steel Curtain.

I wonder if Cal or any of the other Texans higher ups read this place …. or have any idea how the fanbase feels or do they just think we're stupid and we'll keep giving them piles of money.

In their defense there are a lot of stupid fans in this world and they do keep having to push wheel-barrels full of money into their offices to keep the doors clear of all those piles. An NFL franchise is a license to print money even in the worst of times and you have to be Art Modell level stupid to screw that up. Even he entered the afterlife with a Super Bowl ring and a new lease on life for the franchise he ran into the ground in Cleveland.

To me the worst thing you can possibly have as an owner is someone who is just content to let the team coast and cash checks. The McNair family falls into that category of owner. They want everyone to enjoy their game day experience but deep down it's running in the black and that's what matters. They don't know anything about the football business but that's fine. You don't have to in order to be an NFL owner.

It could be that. I also think this may be a situation where the owner becomes too close to the coach. It makes it easier for the owner to accept the excuses, and accept the potential remedies the coach may offer.

Still, Cal has shown to be more accepting of change than his father. I still think there's a possibility of a shake up. Not firing the coach, but maybe bringing in a GM, replacing a coordinater, etc. Maybe.

Don't worry it's all over all forms of social media and that has to bleed over into mainstream media where it has to be noticed.

If you bring in a savvy GM, he will fire OB and that lets Cal off the hook.

The sad truth about this post is that BOB has no clue about defense. He leaves it entirely to RAC - who also has no clue about defense.

RAC knows a ton about defense. He's no different from Wade Phillips and Dick LeBeau in that respect. He's just really old (much like Wade Phillips and Dick LeBeau. Everyone has their time no matter how good they are/were. The game leaves them all behind eventually. Sometimes they're still good coaches but the players no longer respond to them because of the age gap.

I have no idea which one it is but I think it comes down to one of two things. Either RAC doesn't have the personnel he needs to get it done or he is simply becoming ineffective due to age and time. If it is the first one he's screwed because he's not going to get the players he needs with this GM. If it's the second one then it's time to move on like they tried to do when they promoted Vrabel to DC in 2017 (kind of tips us off that the Texans also thought RAC was maybe a little long in the tooth).

Instead of going out and finding someone else who could do this job who was also younger they just moved RAC back down. Didn't want to get out of Butt-Chin's comfort zone I guess.

I want Rac to leave, but OB didn't do him any favors by leaving him with a bunch of starters that probably would be 2nd stringers with other teams. I was bothered by hearing Suggs' name yesterday when he made plays. At least OB the GM could have tried to get RAC more help on that side of the ball.

If you ask me , its not having the players.

RAC schemed up everything he could to stop Kelce …. and they just couldn't. He beat double teams all day long and that compromised everything else. Thing is , Kelce is going to beat most defenders …. but he beat the Texans defenders like a drum. Throw in a fantastic QB like Mahomes …. and its a gonna be a long day.

Guys like Kelce and Gronk …. they are scheme wreckers , no matter how well devised the scheme is.

I think in the very short sample we have of Cal it suggest he is not afraid to make a move. I think the numerous postof him being gutless because he hasn't fire BOB are unwarranted. Just because he doesn't make the decisions that you want, it doesnt indicate he is gutless or doesn't want to win. It does indicate that he has a much different opinion about the situation than you do. Again, we have much too small a sample to really know much about what kind of an owner Cal is or will become.

This MB is not the fanbase. It is just a small group of disgruntled fans.

Exactly this - most of the 'fanbase' are people who watch the game on Sunday, discuss it for about an hour on Monday and then not think about the Texans again until the next Sunday. Thanos could snap his fingers and get rid of every fan who posts on NFL team forums and the NFL wouldn't even see a rating dip.

Every game I went to this year is literally exercise as all I do is stand up to let people out of the row (my seats are on the aisle) nobody is watching the damn game, their drinking and eating crappy overpriced food, getting ice cream. Outside of the Bills game my section never stands, only watches a few plays a game while they entertain themselves with everything else, and leaves early 3rd quarter to 'beat the traffic'.

Cal or any owner could care less what we say or what's on social media - the TV contract, the game day experience, fantasy football that is today's NFL and it turns rich old dudes into insanely rich old dudes.

We are dinosaurs who follow the team closely, but we are a minority of NFL fans.

Oh , I know that …. this place is quite different from the average fan.

What is the average fan? Is the average fan pissed about Bennie Joppru never being a meaningful player? Does the average fan know we wasted a 2nd round pick on Tony Hollings in a supplemental draft? Does the average fan know we spent more on Mercy and nick Martin then we should have? Does the average fan understand a zone dog blitz concept?

I think being a fan for most people is purely a social event. They dont know what they should root for other then wins.

Just, yeesh.

The problem isn’t the owner. It isn’t the DC RAC. It isn’t even an incompetent power hungry coach. It’s the fans. Yeah that’s right this fan base Just gets mad for a few days and then things go back to normal. Where’s the outrage? Why aren’t we all calling into radio stations and complaining? Why aren’t we refusing to buy texans merchandise? This organization is a joke.

I’m done watching this team until a change at HC is made. I’m calling in to every radio show and complaining and I will not buy anything texans related until we make that change. I can’t believe we are going to waste another year of Watt and Hopkins and Watson’s career on this moron. I refuse to watch it happen. Next year it will be the same result and RAC be the will scape goat and you all will have to endure anther year of “it’s not my job” BOB. Hope all the fans who didn’t complain enough enjoy this **** show.

hell im even rooting for the titans. Maybe the tits advancing will some how effect that pea sized brain in that beach ball sized head of mcnairs to do something.

They may have "scouts" that check in on message boards like these to take the temperature.
They may even use them as a sort of poll like politicians - 1 letter may be representative of 100 people sort of thing.

The media is also to blame...more than fans. They’re afraid of losing access to the team if they cross O’Brien. Houston media has always been a group of cowards. Don’t want to step on any toes, hurt anyone’s feelings on any of the local sports teams. It’s pathetic.

I agree that 2 the average fan games are basically a social event. They lock into one or two players like Cushing, JJ, AJ, Hopkins or currently Watson. I think the average fan is easily persuaded by those surrounding them at a particular moment And go with the flow. They take the adopt a player a little bit too far.
