Wildcard Round - Bills at Texans

I think this game more than any shines a light on the real problem with the team. Idk what more proof we need?

Still a win is a win. And Deshaun got his first playoff win. So I'm happy.
It should and I hope you are right but I don't think McNairs know what is going on or they are happy winning the AFC South.

It certainly didn't come from their coaching staff.

Hell no it didn't

I had an issue with a neighbor. Chickens were waking her up too early so the city came & took em all.

Luckily I got a couple of live chickens there in the third qtr. The 2nd one was blind in one eye & had a club foot... that's why things got wonky at the end of the fourth & OT.

I am not a Negative Nancy...I do think Bill could do a better job. Maybe bring in an offensive coordinator. This team can win for several more years. The line will be better next year and the corners look good going forward

@EVOLVIST

You were right. I was wrong. I gave up on this game at the end of the 3rd quarter.

That said, any criticism I made of the coaches was completely warranted. The bills lost this every bit as much as we won it. We didn't win because of any coaching. We won in spite of it.

The thing is, yes, BoB is a shitheel for not letting Watson play his game until it's almost too late. And no, I don't like BoB worth a damn. He's myopic and stubborn and I want him gone. But it's not a matter of if I am right or you are wrong. I care nothing about being right. That means nothing to me.

The whole point is that we are adults, who I assume has been watching football for a while, yet we hear the same thing from some of the same parties, @texan279 @corytx8 and others, who have a defeatist mentality. Now, I have nothing against any forum member. One can be a defeatist is they want to, but in the middle of a game, while it's going on, and there is plenty of time...I just wanted to make the point, do we go about our lives outside of sports thinking like this? If so, that's horrible.

I still don't think this Texans team executes very well - and perhaps I shouldn't let what others write affect me - but damn, haven't we seen so many NFL games where the unexpected happens, or even the expected doesn't?

The thing is, with this team, and as long as BoB is around, I go into every game prepared to both lose and win. So, I sure as hell ain't going to call a game over until the clocks hits 0:00. Then, and only then, will I piss and moan or celebrate a victory. A football game is a cumulative outcome. No more, no less.

This Bill's team with a better QB, probably not.

A better QB with worse defense, I like our chances.
Allen crapped the bed. So much. I cant remember the last time I saw a qb nut up that bad. I mean he literally blew it like I closer giving up back to back to back Homer's. Yet he still had a chance in the end

I like Allen

Today he was Schaub lol

I can't imagine this defense holding Baltimore, KC, or even New England to 16 points through three qtrs.

We lose this game against a competent offense. We made Buffalo look like the greatest show on turf.
I don’t agree with you but our defensive backs are young. This is playoff experience for them which is great. Hey, maybe we lose next round to Baltimore but the positives out of it will be one of our guys progress to star level. I believe we can beat kc and Baltimore. I’ve been called delusional on the site but I said it right when we drafted Watson. He’s a culture changer so it wouldn’t surprise me if we went to the Super Bowl and in fact I said it late 2017. Were going to go to a Super Bowl in his 3rd year. As much as Mvp candidates mahomes and Lamar have been great so far, Imo I think Watson is mentally tougher than both qbs and can get it done whenever. Ive seen it from Lamar & Patrick but Watson has done it consistently with a poor head coach.

Great win. I'll take it. It's truly mystifying that BOB hasn't figured out how to get Watson going yet. He's been correctly compared to Steve Young because of their skill sets so it was telling to me what Steve Young had to say about Watson and the play calling at half time:

"get him physically involved. He sits in the pocket and get sacked, and it affects your emotions as well, it's really hurtful to the team not getting Deshaun physically involved"

We didn't call a qb run play until a little more than 1:30 left in the 3rd quarter. That is when the game turned around. Deshaun finally got his mojo going and the Bills weren't able to keep teeing off on him after that. The defense then feeds off of the momentum when the offense has something going on. I can't understand why BOB doesn't get this for the life of me.

Is Booger calling the game next week
I myself like Booger. He has a good personality and he does not tend to come across as rooting for one team over the other. Sure he may have said some things that don't make sense but all anouncers have done that. My problem a lot of time with color commentators is that they seem to favor one team over another.

You with the chickens, me with the wine. I started drinking after the 1st possession of the 3rd quarter. Decided if the Texans were gonna lose, I'd drink enough not to remember it.

Surprisingly they came back, I slowed down on the alcohol and the Texans got the W. Thank me, not Deshaun. You're welcome.

:dance2:

Texans dont win today vs a better qb
How much better? And what kind of better?

Allen was really good for the Texans defense. As a young Quarterback he does a lot of things well. And the Bills coaching staff had him prepared today. Whether they face the Chiefs or Ravens, the Texans defense saw some things today that they’ll see much more of next weekend only better.

So this was nuts.

I’m a Clemson fan thats only been a Texans fan for a few years as I’ve never had a nfl team and y’all kept drafting so many Clemson folk it made sense especially guys like Hopkins and Watson.

between past two weekends I definitely lost a few years off my life. Who wants to live to their 90s anyways.

If you ever meet Watson you’ll know why his teammates love him. I have anxiety problems and all the people I was supposed to go to with a signing and photo session thing flakes so I was basically having a panic attack by the time I got to get my picture with him.(not sure why but standing in line bugs me, put me in a stadium and I’m fine but somebody right behind me in a line ufgfffjhh)

long story short he talked me out of panic attack and Igot a really good photo with him.

I got a slightly longer interaction than most fans due to them changing out memory card and he’s a legit amazing dude as he seems to be

I’m a Clemson fan so first so kept thanking him for bringing us a championship like 20 times lol.

why some posters on board dislike him or would prefer he left over O’Brien is beyond me.

I have met him for like 6 minutes of my life and I’d run through a wall for him

Dude give me a break. It's not all roses and unicorns and rainbows with this team 24-7. I've been a fan since the team was announced. Have spent thousands on gear and merchandise. We all have a right to voice our opinion. I give credit when and where it is due to this team, it's not my fault that those times are rare. Our coach sucks. We win in spite of him, not because of him. We all have a right to say what we want about this team when we want. The only time I see you post around here is when good things are happening and then you want to call everyone else out because we don't sing the praise of this team and holler and scream that everything is rainbows and sprinkles. We are all grown ups, as well as the men out there making millions on the field. We all have a right to express how we feel about this team, good, bad, positive, negative, or otherwise. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't make it wrong.

Hello friends, another Bills fan here.

First, I have to say this: I read the message boards of our opponents' fan bases every single week, and this is, bar none, the most level-headed and highest quality football talk I've seen this season. An excellent forum.

This is only my second time ever watching Bills playoff football, as I began watching in 2004. It's the first time that I have thought we were good enough to have a chance at winning the game. I see our teams as fairly even, with opposite strengths and weaknesses. Obviously, your offense blows ours out of the water, and our defense has the edge over yours. I'm hoping our defense travels this weekend, because Watson, Fuller, and Hopkins terrify me, and every time I caught a Texans game this year the TE(s) seemed important. That is a lot of bodies to be able to cover, and we're thin at DB with Wallace limping around this week.

I'm curious about the special teams matchup - ours has lost us games vs NE and @ CLE, and has scraped by despite terrible performances another game or two. The remaining games, it feels like they are barely competent, and shaky while doing it. Our punter broke a franchise record for punts inside the 20, and yet it feels like he didn't get one inside the 15 all year, no matter the starting point of the punt. And he regularly shanks them at the absolute worst possible time. Hauschka hasn't been the same kicker since he got injured by a cheap shot vs. the Jets last season, I don't want him kicking anything further away than 47 yards. If you guys have good special teams, I could see that being the difference in the game, if your defense bends as much as your offense lights it up. I could also see your defense holding against our mediocre offense, with our defense having a good day. In either case, special teams would become important.

Those CB rankings (Tre White at 15 or whatever) show how silly PFF can be. The man leads the league in interceptions at the position and hasn't allowed a touchdown all season, and has the second lowest QBR against since 2017. And PFF doesn't seem to notice that we play coverage zone defense, and that a lot of his yards given up are while doing this in garbage time to kill clock. He's a stud. But like the other Bills fan said, he won't necessarily line up on any one receiver because we usually play zone, give up the short stuff, and bet on our opponents making a mistake at some point along the drive. Our last game in Texas, on Thanksgiving, was the perfect example of this strategy working. The NE game two weeks ago was the perfect example of its limitations. I think Watson is a very smart QB, and am worried that he will happily take the dink and dunk stuff down the field on long, crippling drives.

This is also the best opposition fan analysis of Josh Allen that I've seen. The narrative on him changes by the month, as he's really grown fast. Turnovers were the main story on him until week 5. Analysts on TV still pretend it's the main story. But he's only thrown 3 picks in his last 12 games, and lost 2 fumbles. This gives him a 23/5 Total TD/Total Turnover split in that span (and one of those games he only played 2 series, last week). They also talk about his accuracy issues, but that's a dated view of his problems and doesn't really describe him, well, accurately. When his feet are set, or he's rolling right, he's absurdly accurate. When he gets panicky and pumped up, his footwork is bad and his throws sail because of that. Right now, the things he needs to work on most are settling down, especially early, and reading the field better both pre-and-post snap. Cover 0 looks still confuse him, though he consistently beat it for the first time in his career 2 weeks ago. The stretch of football he played in November was tantalizing, against Miami, Denver, and Dallas. After that, a superficial look at the stats shows regression, but in reality he had pretty solid games against Baltimore, NE, and @Pittsburgh, which are obviously tough defenses. I'm hopeful that against yours he can look like he did in the previous three games. I wouldn't worry too much about deep shots. The early string of INTs has essentially made it impossible for him to not overthrow guys deep, as he's too scared of turnovers. Like his near-miraculous improvement in mid range (10-20 yards) throws over last offseason (he was horrendous there last year, and through a large chunk of this season had the best passer rating in the league on these throws, and is still top ~5 last I checked), I expect an improvement in this, but not until he gets a lot of offseason reps. We're excited about him. We hope that someday soon he can look like Watson does for you guys. I have so much respect for Deshaun, and if we lose, it's going to be because of him. I think he could win a super bowl this year, though I'm not sure your defense is quite yet up to the task.

I was happy to draw the Texans, because if we lose, I'll hold no ill will, it'll be easy to move on to next year. I like your team and almost always find myself rooting for them, especiallly since they give NE a hard time lately. If you guys move on, I'll be pulling for you from the AFC. Good luck and I hope it's a fantastic football game.
Y'all definitely held up your end of the deal for making one helluva game out of it. A bit of payback for The Comeback 1993. IMHO, the Texans were more lucky than good and did just enough to win the game. If it's any consolation, I'm now in the very uncomfortable position of having to root for the Titans (My used-to-be Houston Oilers) to beat the Patriots. I want no part of Baltimore until the AFCCG.

A certain someone will refute this. He loves him some Allen

I'd rather OB leave before a really bad rash... so anyone picking him over Watson is insane.

I guess you’re one of those who won’t even enjoy it If they go to the SB just because OB is the head coach.

Its why I would even enjoy it even more. Pathetic souls. :)

If you read any of my posts I firmly believe he should be fired. If he wins a SB, that would change my mind but he wouldn’t get an infinite leash. So how about instead of attacking the poster you attack the reply to your question?

You’re going to get Steel going on his usual rant. Lol

yeah there are people that preferred tom savage start over Watson and still seem to have that opinion and are salty about it. some also bitched because Watson hadn’t won a playoff game yet

can’t travel back in time for to make tom savage better in his starts which would be hilarious but random fan you got your playoff win
