Hey, if you want to keep defending it, that's your call. Just don't keep trying to sell what "you saw" as a factual basis for the non-call.
I didn't say anything about factual.
I started by saying that it was a very questionable call.
It was just not totally blatant enough to take the judgment away from the refs as the rule book stated it.
Slow motion replay doesn't help in this case for various reasons because the defender's arms and hands are below Hopkins'.
Any contact between the two players are not enhanced by slow motion; in fact, it was made less obvious.
It's unfortunate, but the replay doesn't help the case for an overturn.
That's just the way it is.

You cannot say that is JUST THE WAY IT IS and think we all agree. I think you are in the minority in how you saw it. Even Dan Fouts, (he hates Houston), showed three PI's on the one play. PI is judgement, but rules that are applied in that judgement. I saw blatant PI. How much this impacted the game we don't know, I feel we got whooped in the trenches so Texans were going to lose anyway, but these plays and momentum/confidence matter. Games are rigged, THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT IS. I bet people don't agree so I guess I should not have that as my /end thread

To me, I saw the NFL as being rigged a long time ago.
It's just entertainment.

there is definitely gray area when it comes to a DB "looking back and making a play on the ball" I can understand the refs position. What I dont understand is that prior to the PI, the DB is tugging on the jersey of HOP, you can see the jersey being pulled, and an advantage gained in terms of at least defensive holding. I can get no calling PI, but there was enough there to call SOMETHING.

More aggravating was that the very same call WAS OVERTURNED in the ARI/SF game when the rookie Klingsbury WON a call and had a PI called when it hadnt been.

I dont understand how the replay official in NY can deem one was definitely NOT PI, but yet the other definitely WAS. There is no standard being set and nobody who can make the officials accountable.

Just do away with the challenge ability if its going to be a coin flip every time, coaches are losing timeouts over a political stunt by the NFL Officials.

I was watching the Cowboys game yesterday too. One of LB for the Lions was guarding the tight end on a fly route. The LB was able to get his head around and darn near came up with the INT. The reciever tried to jump through the defender. The freaking refs threw the flag and call a PI.

The point I'm trying to make is bump that judgment called crap. These refs are paid to make right call. It seems to me that they are told to call it lopsided like that. Because they aren't being fined or getting punished for those bad calls.

Yeah, in the 49er game, their FB jumped through the defender who had good position, pulled the defender down and got a defensive PI, completely bogus. They need to fix this, or maybe just do college 15 yarders. These 30-40 yard bogus PI calls that we rarely get are not good for the game, unless it happens against the Colts/Patriots....

Grey area is exactly what the NFL needs and wants to maintain some sort of control .

And what exactly makes you think the coach has lost the locker room?
The way the team quit yesterday. As other posters mentioned, the game seemed over either after the first turnover or after the referees did not call PI

Or blaming Watson for the offenses piss poor performance.
Why is it always one or the other, they are both completely able to suck at the same time, in the same game and even on the same play. Watson can’t help if BoB calls a bad play and BoB can’t help if Watson can’t hit his target.

When a game comes down to one play then you can point to someone and say “he screwed the pooch” but this game, like the Colts game last year, where it was 4 quarters of suck yeah that’s on the ENTIRE team.

Oh please you’ve been saying the team has quite the coach since the day the coach walked into the locker room. If the entire Texans team had thrown BoB a parade you’d spin it to fit your narrative.

Except they clearly aren't throwing a parade, they're giving up on obrien in the first quarter

It's both. That's my point. Go back and read all my posts and you would see I blamed the entire team.

Its easy to spin something to fit an agenda, for example watch this.

Its clear that after Watson fumbled on that first drive that it took all the wind out of their sails and they are tired of Watson trying to always be a hero. He's not doing anything to help his Oline and they have to be frustrated that its making them look bad but they can't protect someone who first option is to try and run it himself and to run around the back field like a hyper 5 year old. Everyone is talking about how Watson is holding the ball to long and taking hits he has no business taking but the line is getting the blame.

The PI call was just icing on the cake because since Watson got there Hop has averaged 13.3 (2017) and 14.4 (2018) yards with 11 and 13 TDs, this year he is at 9.9 and only 4 TDs. He's one of the top 5 WRs in the NFL and he can't get his QB to throw him the ball. I'd say at this point Nuk has given up on Watson getting him the football and he's just out there for the check because he knows DW4 is going to try and win the game by himself.

See how easy it is to twist things around till they look however you want.

Except on field relationships and cohesion doesn’t suggest this. Where as it’s clear that OB cannot coach his team to victory when we face better competition. You have a 6 year sample size.

Just as much evidence to suggest it as there is that OB has "lost the locker room". Also you could say that its clear Watson can't win in the big game under pressure at an NFL level, you have a 3 year sample size. The entire point is that to most people here reality and facts actually matter very little because they have already made their minds up and chosen their hill to die on. No matter the week or topic its the same talking points over and over.

I can say the sky purple but It doesn’t make it true. SteelB take note.

I agree with some of your post though. Watson has failed to deliver in the brightest moments. I think he’s being held back. Others think he is the reason. I think 6 years of the same coach and outlook is overwhelming enough evidence that it’s not one players fault.

Oh let me be clear I don't think Watson is the majority of the problem. I still think he is overall a better QB than Jackson or even Mahomes not because of his legs or arm but because of his mind. No I don't think the locker room has given up on Watson nor do I think they have given up on OB. I think the whole team for whatever reason was weak that game and they let either the issue with the refs or the hype of the game get to them.

Again the point is that you can twist anything around when you have an agenda and want to push a certain narrative. Some people on here want to blame BoB for everything and so they twist anything done or said to fit that. Others want to blame Watson or at least the team so they twist that around to fit. Fact is that even the best QB can't overcome when a bad game is called and even the best coach can't overcome when the ball is fumbled or the QB throws it away. The two things are NOT mutually exclusive and are completely able to happen in the same game.

Because the NFL doesn’t care about overturning PI calls. There have been none overturned this year.
Actually, that is not true. If I'm not mistaken there have been a total of 3 this year. But I do get your point, that was about as obvious as they come

Why do you say he's failed in the brightest moments? He's only played in one playoff game thus far, and yes, he stunk it up in that game. But he's played in some "big" regular season games and was outstanding. Patriots and Seahawks games his rookie season. Eagles game last season. Chargers & Chiefs this season. These are just off the top of my head.

Those weren’t really big moments. The Eagles game was big. The Colts games have been big. The playoff game was big. The Ravens game for the second seed was big. Have to admit, he’s played poor in those instances. I blame our coaches. SteelB blames Watson.

In his eight total primetime games from 2017-19 thus far Watson is 138-of-203 for 1,776 yards with 18 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Watson’s rating in those games is 118.6, plus he’s rushed for 272 yards on 35 carries with three rushing touchdowns.

I’ve got news for you, Charlie. The rebuild started in 2014 when O’Brien took over. So, it’s actually year 6 of the 3 year rebuild.
RS 2nd chance at a rebuild.
