Game 10...Win The Trenches...Baltimore Ravens!

I look at this game as one that they need to win so they can go 2-1 during this 3 game stretch.

Honestly Pats don't scare me like the Ravens do. That win/lose record just doesn't show the whole picture of what their team looks like this season. Don't get me wrong anytime you put Brady and BB on the field its going to be a hard fight but watching that game against Ravens I'm just getting paper tiger vibes from them. I heard a theory yesterday that BB was just throwing everything he had against Baltimore because he figures they will have to play them in the playoffs and that was a test game for them.

I can very much see him doing that but if he did it means that as of that game they really didn't have an answer as to how to stop them which is very un-BB like. If we can come in and beat the Ravens then you got to wonder what teams will think the answer to stopping us is other than Watson or BoB having a bad game. I even give RAC credit he's had that defense much stronger than I expected after Watt went down.

For me this is golden days because Texans are my 1st team and Ravens my 2nd so this is all gravy. I'm also loving that Watson and Jackson are FINALLY getting people to shut up about how Mahomes is so much better than every other QB that has ever played.

I say if this team comes out flat not ready to play we just go ahead and fire OB.
If the team comes out flat against the Ravens, it'll be near unrecoverable. I expect the Ravens to "get theirs" on offense and to win we have to be able to trade shots start to finish.

This is one of those I feel we win by 3-4 or lose by 15+.

Everyones focused on the Ravens but is forgetting the best player on the field. We haven’t lost a game by more than 7 points this season.

The Pats played poorly and turnovers killed them. Their OL is hurt, their LT will be back for the playoffs, if the Pats play the Ravens in playoffs I will be picking the Pats to win.

Other than the Pats the Ravens haven't played anybody or a tough defense. (They got blown out by the Browns. Think about that) I think the Texans win this game unless the refs screw the Texans like they did in INDY.

My biggest scare is we really don’t farewell defensively against elusive type quarterbacks. Wilson, Newton, Luck and Rodgers. Like most have stated already, discipline will be the key. We turn our back for a split second and this dude is gone. We will have to go back to our high school days, to know who’s responsible for the quarterback and running back on that read option.

There are two other teams they were talking about this past weekend that could say the same thing.

I forgot who they were... Colts maybe one

The Browns front 7 is very stout. They got after Jackson and that offense from the jump. Jackson didn't get going until the 4th quarter.

Exactly and punish Jackson whether he keeps the ball or pitches it.

This game is going to come down to their OL vs the Texans DL and vice versa. Of course the QB play will be the main factor too. Cant turn the ball over and the Texans will win. IMHO

Keep the TE's in check!! Cunningham and Cole are going to need to be on notice.

13. BALTIMORE’S TIGHT END UNIT THRIVED OFF LAMAR JACKSON’S STELLAR DAY
Nick Boyle earned his first career 90.0 grade, and Mark Andrews did so for the second time this season. Each was the beneficiary of perfectly placed throws from Jackson, who targeted tight ends on 14 of his 17 attempts. As a result, Andrews had the first multi-touchdown game of his career while Boyle racked up a career-high 78 yards.

I feel weird saying this, but without Watt and Clowney, we do seem to play more disciplined football up front. Last game was a perfect example. The bigger fat guys stay in their lanes and get push, but not as violent, so maybe that is a good thing against mobile guys. Also keeps the run defense stout.

It's difficult to have a great D when TWO of your front 7 are doing their own thing, leaving the rest hoping they can figure out how they are supposed to "fill in" the holes. That's one of the reasons, TEs routinely ate our lunch.

No matter how this game turns out, the Texans win and the Ravens lose.

Fans and players.

If the Texans win... awesome.

If the Ravens "win" the Texans players get to leave Baltimore... while Ravens fans and players have to stick around.

Houston isnt perfect.... but.. at least it's not Baltimore...

As long as those two make the plays it works. If you have a Clowney who's always half a second late or Jj who's not who he was, it gets more difficult.

:user: The truest thing I have heard all day Epstein didn't kill himself , well the 2nd but still.

Thank you for stating the obvious..... :shades:

Well with the way some around here act as if just having Watson on the field alone will be enough to win or that he never makes a mistake or *gasp* costs his team a win sometimes the obvious isn't so obvious. I do think it is far, far more likely that if we lose it will be because of play calling, defense or just flat out Ravens being a better team than it would be because of Watson, but doesn't change the fact that if he has a bad game then even if all the other things are near perfect we will still lose.

What we saw the last time Lamar Jackson faced Deshaun Watson

Quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson headline Sunday's clash between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans (1 p.m. ET, CBS), which will significantly impact the AFC playoff picture and the NFL Most Valuable Player race.

Get the best of ESPN sent to your inboxThe ESPN Daily delivers the biggest sports news and moments every weekday.

While making plays like his now-famous spin move on that 47-yard touchdown run, Jackson has led the Ravens (7-2) atop the AFC North with five straight victories. While making plays like his remarkable touchdown pass after getting kicked in the eye, Watson has helped the Texans (6-3) to first place in the AFC South, winning four of their past five games.

This, of course, isn't the first time we've been thrilled by a marquee duel between these two elite dual-threat quarterbacks.

On Oct. 1, 2016, Watson and the No. 5 Clemson Tigers rallied to beat Jackson and the No. 3 Louisville Cardinals, 42-36, in a game in which they combined for eight touchdowns and 854 yards of offense. In a season in which Clemson won the College Football Playoff National Championship and Jackson won the Heisman Trophy, the only meeting between Watson and Jackson not only showcased two of the top playmaking quarterbacks in college football but provided a glimpse of the NFL's future at that position.

THE REST OF THE STORY

Long story short this might be the game of the season. Both teams have top tier QBs, both are mostly healthy with their most dangerous weapons on the field and both have competing strengths and weaknesses. Ravens are better on defense and I'd say we're a bit better on offense just looking at the two teams on paper.

I think this one will come down to which QB can lead his team and which coach can game plan better. Harbaugh is I'd say a more proven coach but when BoB is not trying to get fancy and be his own worst enemy he actually can be hard to beat. On top of that Texans are coming in off the Bye and they actually have a good track record of looking like a better team after the Bye, until, that little thing called the playoffs start but we'll worry about that later.

Indeed this could turn out to be one helluva game.

What’s the difference between a physical and very comprehensive physical? I mean...sounds pretty Intense.

Physical they have a doctor examine you to make sure you can play. Very comprehensive physical they have Watt lead the biggest guys on the team in an “examine” to make sure you WILL play.:kitten:

It’s why Hargreaves is the only new talent they’ve signed that needed it.

A "very comprehensive physical" is the type of physical that is performed at the Combine.

Rather than present it to you in summary fashion, I believe this article in my archives gives everyone an inside look as to what a player like Hargreaves would have quite similarly gone through today. This exam will not only serve to see that he is OK to play this season, but also as a baseline for any decisions to be made re. 2020 which as it stands now is guaranteed for injury.

An Inside Look into the NFL Medical Exam Process at the Combine

We are likely to see some new faces Sunday. The Ravens have already placed 10 players on IR................all defensive players. This past week, The Ravens made many compensatory roster moves. In addition to activating rookie CB Iman Marshall from IR, they have signed 2 DTs........Justin Ellis and Domata Peko........in response to placing rookie DT Daylon Mack for an unspecified knee injury on IR, and DT Pierce unlikely to play because of a nagging ankle injury. The Ravens have been very thin on the defensive line, initially entering the season with just five defensive linemen on the 53-man roster, a departure from the usually stacked units Baltimore have carried in previous years.

I am so hyped up about his game. We are going to amazing plays. However, I don’t think this game is going to be decided by the players.

This game is going to come down to coaching and who better prepares their team and puts their team in a position to win.

Everyone knows DW is a winner. Top tier QB. Still young and makes a mistake here and there, but he is top tier nonetheless.

OB the GM so far has proven not a mess up, but an asset to get get Tunsil, a Will Fuller fill in, a RB tandem that can run up the middle for more than 1 yard, and a corner that grow to contribute in this defense. He might have picked up another too.

OB the coach - well it’s time to prove it. He has this game and NE to prove he has it. Improve play calling. Improve clock management.

As excited I am to see this game, I am making myself be cautiously optimistic about OB.

I think he can prove he isn’t as much of an idiot as I think he is and can coach the team to an AFC Championship game.

Don’t make an ass out of me OB.

I started this season telling myself NOT to get too worked up for the games. I get way too emotionally vested. The past few games though have me getting amped up a little too early for this game. I'm excited to watch this team play. If it plays like they should play this should be a win. Like you I just hope OB doesn't try to be the smartest guy in the room. Get Duke involved in the passing game and let Hyde run. The defense is the question mark, but I think they are good for one or two stops to give the ball back to the offense.

I hope this game lives up to its billing because I'm ready. The Texans better be!

I'm rooting for the best and concious of the worst. We have the talent to win. Will the Texans we love show up or will they "ed it" and bomb?

Ravens - colts - pats.

Watson wants an MVP? Sweep that.

Insane to think the Texans should travel to Baltimore & beat the Ravens. You're just not paying attention.

We could win. We might win & I hope we do. But the Ravens have put together a solid team. A solid team that wins.

If this is a should win, it's not the type of win we're waiting for this team to have.

24 hours away from all out war on the grid iron.
This game is going to be a physical exhibition by 2 though teams.
The end will be determined by sheer will. The team with the greater will and having the ball last will most likely win this one.
I hope that these 2 teams play a great game with no injuries.
1 day until game time.
Go Texans!

I think it was 2014 when Obrien beat Harbaughs Ravens when we signed Yates or Keenum and only had like 4 or 5 days to get them ready, I can't remember the specifics but I do remember it was Obriens finest hour as Texans coach he called a perfect game.

Hopefully we can contain Lamar Jackson ,but you just know he's going to have at least 1 or 2 great plays. I feel like he's going to posterize at least 1 defender on our team ,and we're gonna have to watch that highlight all year long.

So who's it gonna be?

I'm going with Mercilus on the edge.

We should (pretend that is bolded) win because I believe us to be the better team and should (pretend that is bolded) be in the AFC championship game.

We are evenly matched player wise everywhere except QB. Advantage us.

Afterthought:

Also, we need to start having the mindset and expectation of winning these games. Contenders to play in the AFC championship game. Well coached teams. Perineal playoff teams.

We need to start beating these teams to have hope in the playoffs. Instead of getting our division banner and losing in the first round.

Things need to change. It did start changing with beating KC.

We need to finish it.
