Minkah Fitzpatrick to Steelers (not Texans)

It has been reported that Miami Dolphins are not denying they are allowing cornerback safety Fitzpatrick's agent to seek trade. While not actively seeking a trade the team has been moving players As We Know from our recent trade for Tunsil. He played multi-positions Alabama but was considered one of the better cornerbacks. I'm not sure if we have trade bait Miami would be interested in but I would like to have this young player. Thoughts?

2018 rookie season, 80 tackles two interceptions-1 TD mostly playing strong safety. He is 22 years old and in the second year of a 4 year deal. $4 m cap hit with 5th year option as 1.11 in draft. Perhaps O'Brien could make a better trade offer this time.

Would save our dwindling draft capital for a more legit slot or outside CB and kick Roby inside. 4.46 is more safety speed. Good player but not quite our need in my book. He is versatile so we would like him I suspect. Reminds me of Kareem, good, not great, in between size and speed

Yes this could (should) be moved to the NFL section
So Minkah's not on the Texans and there's no actual talk of him coming to Houston?
Why move it? We had pages and pages of trade talks with Miami and Washington concerning tunsil and Clowney in this Texans section. There is a need for a cornerback on Houston's roster as there was for a left tackle. Example thread by wolf trading for WR.

Because we were discussing a Texans player being traded to either of those two organizations, along with the players that could be gained in the trades, as was most of the national media.

I'm cool with moving the thread but did we not talk about trading for Washington Trent Williams with draft picks before we made the trade for tunsil? Also trading for Minkah could and probably would involve current Texans. Trade Lonnie Johnson and two 3rds for Minkah.

Like today couldn't get any worse. We will waste another pick on a 5th WR and still have needs at CB, LT, RB and now edge rusher..
Disclaimer: Totally unconfirmed rumor. Take it how you will.

Just listened to Texas Sports Nation podcast with John McClain, Brian T. Smith, and Aaron Wilson. They said they are hearing rumblings that the Texans may be looking into trading for Taco Charlton.

Fair point. Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't find any threads started just to talk about Trent Williams, and the Tunsil threads were created after the trade.

Wasn't counterpointing though, just providing some insight. We got mods now to keep us in our lanes. :kitten:

Not the first time I've heard Minkah's name mentioned with the Texans, though I cant remember where. I'm not sure it's in our best interest to use our dwindling (and missing) resources on someone who isn't an ideal fit at need position. Starting Corner or Right Tackle, sure, but hybrid safety is someone I feel we can pass on.

I think he was mentioned as a possibility in a clowney trade with Miami.

Everything I've read about him is great. Can play slot very well but can also move all over.

Won't be cheap. Doesn't become a free agent until 2023.

Is he just a hybrid safety? Serious question. Haven’t kept up with him since draft.

I read that Miami wanted him to learn 6 positions this off-season, including 2 LB spots. He is very upset by that. Wasn't sure if he should bulk up or lose weight. It hampered his ability to grow as a player this off-season.

and what waste space the Trent Williams thread was at the end of the day? A ton of people hoping that Williams was to be traded when Washington still hasn't shown one bit of interest in trading Trent at all.

If we are reestablishing the board's standards, trade speculation went in the NFL section exactly for the Trent Williams thread.

My post was a guiding one for both mod and non-mod.

Just my evaluation but he is real deal as a corner & why he wants out of Miami. He would be better than any we could draft in second round.

But posters around here have such a hard on for draft picks.

Minkah is very talented and if it cost a 2020 2nd which would mean that there wouldn't be a 1st/2nd rd pick for the next 2 yrs I can only imagine the stupidity some posters would show in this thread.

Weren’t you the build through the draft preacher?

I do agree that if prime young talent is available you look into it but long term success isn’t built through FA and trading away picks willynilly.

You think you're getting a guy just one year removed from being essentially a top ten pick for a second rounder?

Before I coughed up another draft pick......I'd offer WR, Fuller in a straight up deal for CB/S, Fitzpatrick. Might have to include a late round 2020 pick but with Stills and Coutee, the Texans have the WR's to get the job done. Maybe a change of scenery helps both players in the long run.

I know this isn't going to happen, but I would offer the 2nd to them.

The point is if the Dolphins were to trade him to the Texans for a 2020 2nd rder there would be a large portion of this MB bitching about BOB trading away the future.

We wouldn't have had the draft pick assets to make this trade.

We simply can't do anything like this for 4 or 5 years now.

They're a dumpster fire. But it may be an under control dumpster fire.
Other than not having a franchise QB (Since Marino), I like the position they're in with all of those picks. IF you're going to rebuild it this is exactly what you want to have in the chamber to start the process.

Play their cards right....tank another season and by 2021, they'll have their trenches taken care of and Trevor Lawrence clearly in their grasp.

But somewhere amid this “Trust the Process”-esque campaign lies a whole lot of unknown. Draft picks can be fool’s gold. And that’s assuming the would-be gold even wants to be a part of the Dolphins’ solution. … how are we so sure that a prospective 2020 first-rounder wants to be there seven months from now? This is a warning to Dolphins fans that the hope of a quick reset next season might not be as clean as it’s being sold.
